The Seaforth Hawks took two at the Hangar about an hour ago. Seaforth girls had little to no trouble at all while the boys game ended up way closer than expected. Seaforth boys prevailed 51-45. JM put up a really good fight though.

It was my first time seeing sophomore Jarin Stevenson in action. Holy crap is this guy impressive. He is what the kids would call a "cheat code". A 6-10 athletic guy who can do anything on the court. I might have just seen a future NBA player in Siler City. If you are a high school basketball fan and live about 100 miles nearby in any direction, you HAVE to see this kid. HAVE TO.

The Seaforth girls were a pleasant surprise. They are a tall team. Starting center is 6-3 and they looked to have three other girls that were around 6-0.

They also have a college prospect of their own. Freshman Gabrielle White was really impressive. She's a very strong point guard with nice handles and excellent court vision. I would not be surprised to see her on a D-1 roster in a few years.

Seaforth has another freshman named Peyton Collins who can really shoot the basketball. Although this team is composed of freshman and sophomores, they could very well sneak up on an unsuspecting team come playoff time.

Back to the boys....

I'm going to walk back what I said at the beginning of the year about Seaforth being a contender. Although Stevenson will be a nightmare for anyone, the rest of the team is rather average. I'll actually be surprised if they make it past the third round.

They do have another intriguing sophomore by the name of Chris Walker. Walker's a long, tall guard who's listed at 6-5 but I swear looks to be around 6-7.

It'll be real interesting to see what Seaforth looks like a couple of years down the road.

I also have to mention the coaching staff at Seaforth. Stevenson's coaches are none other than.........his mom and dad. I don't think I've ever seen a husband/wife coaching duo anywhere. His dad played at Richmond and his mom played at UNC.
