Scotland @ Butler

I’m trying to pinpoint is Butler this good or Scotland played that bad. Butler’s offense is difficult to stop with an experienced QB but Scotland’s offense was predictable. Wished they could’ve gotten the running clock going earlier so we could’ve had a chance to see the DF/MC.

Scotland has been predictable for years, especially since Zamir took over. No need for a versatile offense when you had a once-in-a-generation talent, but that’s not gonna work now. That’s been Scotland’s Achilles’ Heel since Zamir’s 10th grade year: when they have to pass, can they? That hasn’t been their game and it’s definitely going to show this season. Zamir was a gift from above, but the talent must not be there this year because there is no way Bailey didn’t have those kids prepared to that extent.

40-6 Butler, the extra point that would start the running clock was blocked.

WOOD - SHED!!!!! Luv D Game was right, our defense was in witness protection!!!! I hope B- Wall is alright.

He's done for the year will reserve the painful details.

Not that it matters but running clock is 42 pt lead at half or thereafter, it never got
1 xtra point from that unless that number has changed.

It was still a miserable day for the Scots on ALL fronts.

McQueen and the QB were the only bright spot's i saw for Scotland. I hope the QB's ok? SC is very small in the trenches, and the front 7 was just to slow trying to put pressure on Butler's QB, who did not get better from last year.

One thing I noticed about the offense was when big number 80 motioned to a side that’s where the ball would be ran. Wasn’t super innovative. I will give Scotland credit for scheduling Butler. Butler had a hard time finding an opponent last year. Butler had a young team last year and got crused by Mallard Creek in their first game.

Butler does play Richmond at home this year. How many teams can say they beat Scotland and Richmond the same year?

Butler is a good program and one of the best in the state when they are on their game. We have given them a few battles, but they have had our number for years. The best time to play Butler would have been last year. Kudos to Scotland for scheduling them, but when they are on it's tough. Both teams will be fine. You have to play with what you have and this is a first game. Both teams will be fine.

Correct, I forgot the rule was 42, and not 35.. my bad on that one. Its just that alot of us wanted to see/hear how that MC/DF match up unfolded. Unfortunately, with the circumstances involving the weather, you just knew that the only way it was really going to happen was if Butler was able to put that rule into effect on Scotland, its not anything personal or anything against Scotland.

Tried to tell you...no Zamir, no offensive line, no defense and bailey getting exposed as a coach. Take those lumps

Some observations:
Butler is really good. They're loaded and ready to try and make another run. We'll see just how good they are on Friday when they take on the Creek.

Scotland is really, really slow. Outside of McQueen I saw no speed at all on their defense. Butler shredded them and did whatever they wanted. They have some work to do for sure if they plan on getting back to the 4A title game.

Also Scotland didn't appear really to have much size, their OL was solid in size, but was not that big, more fat than anything else.

All in all, really impressed with Butler and very unimpressed with Scotland.

Bailey exposed? Come on...returning starters from last year - Smiley, Bruce Wall (receiver now qb), Austin Norton (tight end), Tyshon Thomas (db). 4 returning starters and 3 of them are seniors. Last night, 3 sophomores started on offense and 2 on defense. If Wall is out, a sophomore will start under center the remainder of the year. They lost a junior D1 defensive end to Clinton. A new OC comes in and leaves one week before the season starts. Now, he may have lost his starting qb, who will be a D1 guy. This may the 3rd time in 7 years he’s lost his starting qb before the season or before the completion of the first game.

They will be fine, they will get better every week. Bailey said it from day one, if you’re going to get us, this is the year to do it. But after that, it looks like things return to normal. 2012, bailey took a team with 2 returning starters to the eastern finals. I think he has proving what he can do. These are extraordinary circumstances and this group will have to mature on the varsity level with few seniors to lead the way. Critics better enjoy it. It will be short lived....the upcoming groups look pretty strong.

What is the story with the OC leaving?

I will leave the coach bashing to someone else and I agree that a team like Butler can make you look pretty bad but I am curious about what about the upcoming group looks strong? I didnt see it.

Was a college OC. Coached at D1 and D2 level. I guess HS football was a different world for him. No one really knows the story.

from what i have been told we would be 9th and 10th are loaded - again who knows outside of a few players we do not look anything like the program from 2010 - until now. That is just fact but we will get our l's but i believed it will be short lived. It will get worst before it get betters if wall is down but it might force HBC to throw the ball because because running the qb when u are down to one is a daunting prop. I do not think we lack speed i think we lack understanding thus everyone is in quicksand but after a whopping like that there are a number of issues that can be the root cause. I think the Oline is a bigger problem than anything well maybe our secondary. i would blitz every play our kids cannot hold coverage very long so you might as well gamble and pray. Play like a bunch of wild dogs from the Serengeti Plains. Can't be much worst. 4-2-5 and send them from all angles.

Why you in your feelings? Your team isn't good this year. Nothing wromg with that. This was a beat down. Game never should had happened. Butler and Scotland are not in the same stratosphere

Met a fan from South Pointe (Rock Hill) his words were exactly the same
as you just mention.

Having seen them twice in the past two years outside of Zamir and a handful of kids they look down from the 2011-13 teams. Clearly the numbers are way down. I was shocked when I saw how few they dressed and the number of soph on the roster. Is Bailey not reaching the kids ? 8 seniors seems to reflect some buy in problems.

Haven't beaten Richmond, don't get ahead of yourself.
