Laurinburg, NC
Memorial Satdium August 18, 5pm, Game 1 of a double header.
Scotland comes into this after a title game loss last year but in no way resembles
last years team. 32 graduating seniors and less that 10 seniors on this years team.
So lots and lots of youth and not much size. Senior running back Syheam Mcqueem
returns in the backfield with new QB Bruce Wall (jr),and "Poppa" Mckoy as the other back.
Bailey describes the teams showing as a C- in a scrimmage with Dillon. So whats in store for the Scots in Charlotte, whats the deal with Butler, thoughts, predictions. Can the Scots compete with the mighty bulldogs this year?

Butler fielded a young team last year and should be much improved. The defensive and offensive lines plus skill positions should be really good. The returning QB Peters will be the key. Last year Butler really didn’t open up the passing offense which makes them special. If Peters improves Butler should have a good shot at the west finals.

From the reports I'm getting from the scrimmage from Aug 9th we got a lot to work on. I think we will hold our own in the Conference but against these Dawgs....we're just too young and I think it will show on the 17th. While we still have some weapons on offense, don't see much out of our defense (like last year)...our defense last year was outscoring the opponent, don't have the arsenal to do that this year.... can we compete...yes...will we win...probably not, but I hope I'm wrong.

The game is on Sat. Aug. 18th & I'm sure you meant offense

Not going to be able to make this one (as bad as really would like to go)... does anyone know if the game will be covered on the radio? if so which station?

According to the wlnc face book page their coverage will start at 4.I'm not able to make the trip either but will follow and hope the boys can pull it out.......Go Scots!!!!

Heading out of Scotland county around noon Saturday.
Got a little taste of some football tonight at Jack Britt
as South View dominated them with mainly one receiver
and NO run attack to speak of.

Scotland looking THIN coming into this game. Very little to no size at all, might get pushed around a lot. Wall looks good from the scrimmage last week, can make the big play. Praying Scots put up a good one today against the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs are big, fast & angry coming off last year with experience at QB and one of the best playcallers in NC. Scots have to bring there lunch pail on this one. Good luck tonight.

Scotland's starting QB KO'd from the game. McQueen is calling the signals now. seems like a running clock is imminent.

Question for you Scotland guys.....Where are the numbers for you guys. Looks like you dressed about 35 kids tonight?

I love it. Scotland doesn't look good out of the gate and Richmond beats the NC school for the blind last night and some of their fans want to bump their gums. Before you guys get overly excited remember we have a ton of young kids that played their first varsity game tonight. Btw we'll be a lot better in November than we are in August.

Lol making excuses already? BTW WILL WE BE BETTER TOO IN NOVEMBER. 7>1

Worst loss by the Scots since 09. That was a 35-7 loss to RSHS
98, we got a serious whuppin tonight and that's a fact. But will you be singing your happy tune after Wake Forest and this same Butler team play the Raiders???

Scotland has been loaded for the last 7 years. It was bound to happen eventually, but I never anticipated it to this degree. I thought all of the talk about Scotland being overwhelmingly small was just that, talk. But man, that reminds me of Richmond under Castellano. Best of luck to the Scots the rest of the way. I hope calm heads prevail this season.

I’m trying to pinpoint is Butler this good or Scotland played that bad. Butler’s offense is difficult to stop with an experienced QB but Scotland’s offense was predictable. Wished they could’ve gotten the running clock going earlier so we could’ve had a chance to see the DF/MC.

DW , I was thinking same thing. I think Butler is pretty damn good. Lesane, Worthy and Holmes are a very good threesome but Scotland looked very slow and very small tonight so its really hard to tell

The same way Scotland has a potential to lose like any other team is the same way they have potential to win. We are in August, we have seen the first game, the good, the bad. Before any fingers start pointing negativity, give Scotland the chance to progress. While they are young, they also have the ability to grow from here to November without crossing their fingers. By the way Butler is not no easy task and certainly not one to point fingers at Scotland for. If Scotland had an easy schedule everyone would trash talk. They played Butler and lost and everyone still trash talking.

QUESTION: So what is expected from a young highly potential Scotland to make North Carolina happy?
