BK you were the one a few weeks ago saying things are getting ready to fall way off for you guys for a long time to come. You have a had a two year stretch with a great crew and some luck along the way. A good combo for any championship run. You yourself has said it is gonna be a long long time after this one. Not my words...but yours.
Robbinsville is going to be relevant as long as Walsh is the coach, and they will be competing for state titles most years as weak as little 1A is overall, especially when Murphy goes 1AA. But I think it will be a good while before they win the SMC again after this year, in my honest opinion.
So what you are trying to say mbdfan is that Murphy was irrelevant in the weak little 1a for the past 2 years since you couldnt beat Robbinsville. Man Murphy will get slaughtered in 1aa then right.
um ok... this was supposed to be Swain's year too but injuries and Robbinsville being a lot better than expected unraveled it.
Swain will be good next year but I strongly doubt they will come into Murphy next season and get a win with everything 'Dogs have coming back. Swain returns a good bit but Murphy returns more.

Same as other levels.... Just got to be good enough to be legit or elite in what ever division your enrollment lands you in!
The top 3-4 teams in little 1A are usually quite good, after that it's weaker than piss. And it's gotten even worse in recent years with Albemarle being so down. I would've said the same thing had Murphy won the last two years. If you don't agree with that, that's your prerogative.
Here is something for you guys to think about when talking about the 1a/1aa playoffs. I will also say there is a reason and in my opinion a valid one for having classifications. Records will always reflect strength of schedule, for instance if a little 1a team played 11 games against average 4a schools what do you think there record would be? I personally believe a school like Andrews plays the toughest schedule of anyone. Pretty much everybody they play has 44% or greater the number of athletes that they they do. If you do not believe number of students make a difference well start a team at Nantahala and let me know when you win your first state title. When I think about the playoff system, my thoughts are how competitive are the games. If for instance all of the playoff games were close, then it would be a helluva bracket. If the games were all blowouts, then I would tend to think the bracket is pathetically weak. I am a math guy so here are some numbers for us to digest. 1a - 1st Round Margin of Victory(MOV)=30.25 points; 1aa - 1st Round MOV=29.75 points; 1a - 2nd Round MOV=19.25 points; 1aa 2nd Round MOV= 25.6 points; 1a - 3rd Round MOV=16.5 points; 1aa - 3rd Round MOV= 19 points. Overall MOV 1a = 25.14; 1aa = 27.04. First round 1a games decided by <10 points 1 game. 1aa games by <10 points 2 games. Second round games decided by <10 points 1a - 3 games, 1aa - 1 game. Third round games decided by < 10 points both had 2 games. I will submit to you guys both brackets are weak up until the 3rd round.
I'm not a complete moron, though some would argue that, but the facts are 1A playoffs are horrible. And not trying to hurt anyone's feelings but outside of a few teams the drop off is tremendous. I get the numbers thing. No not those numbers, BK. The small 1A teams have a tougher go but outside of a few exceptions most years, the 1A bracket is pitiful. There is absolutely no way to justify it. The 1A bracket is used by many as the primary argument against the watered down system we have. If you cut the system down to the top 16 and split into 2 regions it would have at least some credibility. Pointless to argue this though as the all mighty dollar rings true and the quality of football is the victim. Now please carry on with how wonderful and loaded the 1A ranks are from top to bottom.
Imagine if NC had no classifications, what would the top teams in our state say about us if the NCHSAA put us in the playoffs? They would say exactly what you are saying? I see no reason to belittle (pun intended) the small school state playoffs. Why are the 1a playoffs horrible? Is it because the first round games are blowouts? I know your answer is the bottom 20 or so teams are terrible and I actually agree to an extent. But using that same logic all of us 1a/1aa teams are terrible if we throw out classifications. The truth is 1a/1aa football is a joke if we want to look at football statewide. I say we do away with classifications and have 1 state champion. If we do this, then and only then, will we be put in our place. I can assure you none of us will be thumping our chests about state titles, except for maybe Milan high school in Indiana. By the way I thought the 3rd round 1a playoffs were wonderful,
The small 1A playoffs would be fine if they cut it from 5 rounds to 4, it would get rid of most of the teams everyone is complaining about being unworthy playoff participants.
Well bk what do you care if they are? You guys have got this beating Murphy thing down pat, right? Murphy shouldn't be a problem for you going forward. Am I right? It shouldn't concern you where Murphy plays in the playoffs.
Well.............If what I heard today is true then RVille should be preseason 1st or 2nd going into next season.
