will my braves rebound ... Big question after the terrible performance lady week against swain. once again we shall see a run heavy offense ... Cherokee threw the ball well but had no running game . Rosman defense seems very tough be interesting if they can stop Mintz and company ... Hope for a better game go Braves !!!!

Braves defense is the big X factor. They have to able to get some stops like they did against SM and Murphy. Seems like they have been reeling since the 2nd half of the Murphy game. Get some stops and force some turnovers,, I think the Brave offense can score in bunches if they get some momentum.

Rosman just lines up and runs it at you. Nothing fancy, just smash mouth football. Their Defensive front are huge. After watching some of Cherokee/ Swain highlights Swain and Rosman play the same run at you all night long offense. Dang what a tough conference. Just hope we have at least one healthy team left come playoff time

Rosman big. Like someone above said, the Braves have fallen apart since halftime of the Murphy game for some reason. The only shot Cherokee has is to air it out early and often on the Rosman defense and hope they can win in a shootout. I don't see them being able to stop the Tiger's rushing attack at all.

Cherokee wont stop rosman but I think Cherokee can pass for 200yds or so on rosman. I see the score being rosman 35 Cherokee 14.

I always look forward to a trip to the Reservation, but it hasn't been too kind to the Tigers thru the years...

This friday will be the 46th meeting all-time between the Braves and the Tigers, and Cherokee holds a 23-22 edge in the series that dates back to 1967 when the Tigers beat Cherokee 26-0 in Rosman...

Ever since Rosman rejoined the SMC back in 1993, Cherokee and Rosman are 11-11 in the 22 SMC games played between the two teams...

During the first part of this new Millienum, Cherokee didn't lose to Rosman between 2004-2009....A span that included 8 games, including 2 playoff meetings....

Coach Freddie Whitman has yet to lose to a Cherokee team since he took over in 2010, meaning the Tigers have now won 5 straight against the Braves...

This rivalry has had some great games thru the years, sprinkled with blowouts by both teams from time-to-time....

It's never easy to go to GWY, and get a win...Just ask the 1997 Tiger team that played for the state title that year?...Rosman beat Cherokee in Cherokee that year 12-6, and the game was very much in doubt for the entire game....Same can be said for that very good Cherokee team in 2006 that beat Rosman 8-6 in Rosman....You just never know what's going to happen when these two teams meet?

This is very much a trap game IMO for the Tigers with Swain County coming to Rosman, the following week....

Cherokee does have a dynamic QB with a very good arm and very capable receivers, so it will be a major challenge for the Tiger secondary that is still missing starters Josh Rice and Blake Tesnow...

The Tigers are going to have to put some pressure on Tye Mintz, and gang tackle the football if they want to prevail this coming friday night on the Reservation?

Hope the weather cooperates this coming friday, and both teams come out of the game with No injuries....The last time we played over at Cherokee, Josh Rice broke his hand making a tackle on defense, so I think both teams know this is going to be a physical battle this coming friday night...

Hope the Tigers are really for the Challenge!

Roar Tigers Roar!

First off, Congratuations to Coach Whitman and the Tigers on their 3rd SMC Shutout(21-0) tonight, which is the first time Rosman has ever shutout 3 SMC opponents in the same season....3's were popular last night for another reason as well as Rosman Senior Gage Orr intercepted 3 passes last night, while also rushing for a TD and catching another hail-mary TD pass with 4 seconds left in the half....Great game by Gage, and the Tiger defense last night....Cherokee took the opening kickoff, and drove to the Tiger 2yd line before being pushed back....It would be the closest the Braves would come to scoring all night as the Tiger defense was stout up front led by big Andres Villagomez who IMO is the best DT in the SMC... Orr and company were stellar in the secondary all night long as Mintz had trouble finding any receivers open... The young sophomore QB Tye Mintz did find some running lanes a couple times, and showed flashes that he is going to be a force for the Braves over the next couple of years, but last night belonged to the Tigers and especially the Tiger defense...

The All-time series between Cherokee and Rosman is now deadlocked at 23 games apiece....

Good luck to the Braves until we meet again!

Next up for the Tigers is a visit from our friends in Maroon and White next friday in the regular season finale in Tigertown!

Roar Tigers Roar!

The last two weeks have been the same.. Move the ball up and down the field .. Penalties and no running game is killing us. I thought cherokee d played much better and stopped the ground game of rosman. Our boys look like they playing with no confidence and our top two recievers being out is making it tough to score

Yes, we really needed those receivers last night. Right about the running game. Of course nobody has much of a running game against Rosman. They are very physical up front! Probably the best line I have seen this year.

Good game though. Good luck to Togers rest of the year!

GO BRAVES!!!!!!

If what i'm hearing is true then swain by two td's. Maybe somebody can help us i heard that green for rosman broke his leg last night in cherokee game? Anybody know if this is true and if so that hurts rosman defense more than two quarterbacks being out. He is a game changer on defense.

Swain-Rosman will be close. I would give Swain the edge at this point, especially with Greene out. Of course, our game with Swain is hard to guage. It was Fair week, new Chief week, death of Police Officer ( 2 sons on the team). Lots of unrest and upheaval during that week! Don't know if we coulda beat anybody that night!!

Was fortunate enough to get to swing thru Cherokee and see the game . a little bit late but from what I saw Tanner was pretty much out of the picture for most of the game . I personally haven't heard an official word on his condition but if he doesn't get to play next week I still don't see Swain by 2 touchdowns.Tanner would certainly be missed and best wishes go out to him. This year however Rosman from what I've seen is blessed to have some depth. They are clickin on all cylinders at this point as well and no doubt will be up for this one. Should be a dandy ,man I hope I'm back in town for this one. GO TIGERS

Be honest wasn't that impressed ... Swain dominated our line . You hit a Hail Mary and a late td to win and our offense moved up and down the field on rosman .. Swain by 21

Rosman played rville tight but didnt look that great vs Andrews or Cherokee. Im starting to think Rosman just played UP alittle vs Rville.

And just a reminder ,you lost . Sorry you weren't impressed.

So far this year, Mitchell had been the most impressive team that I have seen! They will be hard to handle in the playoffs.

Im starting to think all these guys on here have you pegged pretty accurate . Rosman played UP a little for you guys, wow !!!! isn't that how the game is supposed to be played I mean really what a statement . Take away the interception that night and we go to overtime. Your Knights played a team that night that is just a few points shy,11 I think, of being undefeated at this point.. That's pretty legit in anyones eyes that have them open. And did you see them play Andrews or Cherokee . I thought as your name implies you were a knight fan. Rosman just got their 3rd shut out of this season Friday night and by the way 3rd conference shut out. No denying the facts guys ,this team is for real. Taking absolutely nothing away from Swain but I figure these boys are going to be up for this one as well. I really think they might just play UP a little this week too!!! get UP boys and GO TIGERS

You right we lost .... Just not impressed ... We got stopped in the 2 by penalties .. Had three drives stopped inside the 20 and u guys had Hail Mary to score one if your Tds .... Excuse me if I'm not impressed.... I was impressed with swain .. If we have our top two recievers you never stop us ...

Take it from a black knight fan that was at the Rosman/Rville game: That was a slobber-knockin', in the trenches, no-holes barred game. Hopefully what BK means to say, is that your Tigers were more hyped up for Rville than for some other teams. That's cool because we were WAY hyped to play the Tigers. That was a game for the record books.

Since we have a bye this Friday I would love to see the Tiger and Devils. It will be intense. BTW in case I can't make the trip, do you know if it will be on wsql radio?

Thats what I meant. They was up for the Rville game. Rosman guys are up tight. Oh and we would be undefeated if we played Tigers schedule.

I appreciate your candor, and I agree that it was a very physical football game between the Tigers and Black Knights....

As for the game in Cherokee, the Tigers did come out flat as they did against Andrews, but they did keep both teams out of the endzone which is tough to do on any friday night, especially a road conference game and homecoming for the opponent as well too boot....

There's no doubt that Cherokee is improved, especially their line play, and Mintz is a very talented young man who is only going to get better, but the Tiger secondary is pretty good also, and would be even better if both Rice and Tesnow were playing as both were starters on defense as well...Gage Orr had 3 INTs on friday night, and that is something that NO other Rosman player has ever done before, best I can remember..It would have been fun to see how the game with Cherokee would have turned out if both teams were healthy?

As for the loss of Green, it is a big loss for sure for the Tigers in more ways than one because Green was so impactful on defense, and was among the state 1A leaders in Sacks...He's a big loss on offense as he could take it to the house on any play, and he was a big loss on special teams since he was one of the best punters Rosman has had....With all that said, his teammates have had to play without him on several occasions the last couple of years as he's been plagued with injuries for most of his varsity football career, which is indeed a shame for a kid with his talent, and yes he does play both basketball and baseball....I personally think that Tanner was his own worse enemy at times as he would continue to fight for extra yardage even if there were several players that had a hold of him, and that was the case in Cherokee as he was fighting for yards when he went down....The laws of physics worked against him last friday, and his football career at Rosman is now over...Sometimes as a player, you just have to say to yourself that you've got me this time, but you won't get me the next time I run the ball...

I hate it for Tanner because he is such a great competitor, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel on this season, and the 10+ Seniors on this year's team are not quitters either, so I expect them to be extra motivated to show folks that the Tigers are more than one person...They are a team!

Cherokee has improved so much in the past three years. Hats off to the kids and the coaching staff over there. Thought they looked a bit flat at the game Friday, not a lot of energy for a homecoming game. Best of luck to them the rest of the way. I feel like they could be a tough out in the playoffs, especially if they start having success in there last few games.

As usual Rick, excellent post. Lets see how the tigers respond and prove themselves. I'm thinking there may be some surprises in store . GO TIGERS

Sad that a senior doesn't get to finish his year. Feel for the kid ..

Couldn't agree more, and like yourself, it doesn't matter to me which team that senior played on....He's still just a kid, and it's always tough to see a youngster watching instead of playing as a Senior...

Tanner gave Rosman Football Fans a lot of great moments thru the years with one of those coming a couple weeks ago against Robbinsville when he blocked a punt to set up the Tigers first TD....Going to miss that fire and effort from him, and his big play ability on both sides of the ball, but the team needs to turn the page, and kids need to step up to the challenge, and play their best in honor of their injured teammate whose football career at Rosman is now over...The season is NOT lost if you "believe in the journey" as one of our Tiger fans has often stated on here many times....

And as my buddy Cheerduck from hickory states in every post he makes!

"It's not where you start, but where you finish"!

Only 2 regular season games left for the Tigers with the final one at home this friday, fittingly on Senior Night....Time flys, so you better seize the moment when you have the chance....

Roar Tigers Roar!

Wildcat I know there is a lot of football left but what are your thoughts on a possible playoff matchup between Mitchell and Swain?
