Monroe (don’t think it will be a blowout)-Depends on which Anson team shows up. If Monre goes up by 14 or so early its a wrap. Monroe beat them 53-14 last year. It was a heckuva game at the half and Anson played very very tough, and then the second half Monroe decided enough was enough and put them away. I think the score was 20-14 at the half last year though. I still think Monroe wins. 48-21
Forest Hills (should be a blowout)- I agree, this one should be over early. Piedmont is bad and they cannot keep up with Forest Hills. The field is too big in this one for Piedmont they can't effectively cover all the ways Forest Hills will stretch you out. 42-0
West Stanly vs Parkwood- I'm gonna call this one a toss up, its a home game for West Stanly so that should help a little bit just being comfortable playing at home. But this is two horrible offenses against a below average defense and a horrible defense. By numbers Parkwood scores 12 and gives up 36, WS scores 16 a game and gives up 31. Hey this game has the potential to be entertaining. I will give the slight edge to this game to West, they are scoring a couple more and giving up a few less.
The real travesty here is because of the dumb split conference situation either Piedmont or Parkwood will go to the Playoffs and get absolutely hammered by a 1 seed in 3A in the first round. Right now that is South Point, Crest is 2 and North Lincoln is 3. That's an absolutely blow out loss waiting to happen in about 4 weeks. But hey you can say we made the playoffs. Last year Parkwood drew the honors by virtue of beating Piedmont and then went to play Crest. Then they headed back home having 53 hung on them and never sniffing the end zone.
I don't know yet exactly what realignment will look like, but split conferences are trash. Unfortunately I feel like there will be more split conferences with more A sizes. I think having more A sizes is great, but we gotta look at making these conferences better. Or move to a region play format or something of that nature.

So basically, it comes down to the Parkwood v Piedmont game to who goes to the playoffs between those two?
I'm going to support the Jackets like always this Friday, but I would kind of like to see the Monroe v Anson game.
Don't think Piedmont has a chance against our defense especially with them having a weak to none passing attack. We will stop the run.

Yes, because of the split conference, whichever 3A team finishes the highest technically wins the 3A side of the conference. Last year Parkwood was 1-10, their only win was Piedmont and they went to the 3A playoffs.
Wow, I feel sorry for whoever wins that game.
If Anson beat Piedmont that bad, we should beat them even worse.

It is ridiculous. Piedmont nor Parkwood deserve to be in the 3A playoffs but one will get in with a horrible record of 2-8 probably and get crushed by a top seed in the west in the first round. I think West Stanly will give Parkwood a good game. They're not as big this year nor have much speed but they like to play slow tempo ball. The FH / West game would probably have been worse if West didn't run the the play clock down on most plays especially in the second half. FH was up 28-3 in no time then West decided to play the slow down game. lol
Anson is one of the most inconsistent teams you'll see. They'll play fired up against Monroe or FH then look flat against other conference teams. Hard to figure them out.
If QB Zach Dilworth plays like he did against West Stanly he'll have another 300 plus yard game against Piedmont. Plus our trio of RBs could add to that. Would love to see the JV RB known as "Cannonball" get some time on Varsity Friday. He's a load to bring down.

Brian's Simmons did a realignment 8A-1A conference proposal and he still had split conferences.

This still leads to the same problem the current Rocky River Conference has. 2 possible bad teams making the playoffs in 4A in this case.
I agree, in the case of Anson those are usually markers of a bad team. They play up to competition level and then down when they "think" they can win. Anson has been that way for years, they will look like they belong on the same field as legit competition and still find a way to lose and then they will play a team they should beat by 2 scores minimum and lose.
I agree it is ridiculous that either of those 2 schools will make the 3A playoffs. The playoffs have become too watered down and long. IMO if they are going to leave this many teams in the playoffs then the regular season should shorten to 9 games and then basically let almost everyone in the playoffs to get the 10th game. However I feel like we can do better.
Again this is just my opinion so I know it does not count for a lot. But moving to 7A's gives NC the opportunity to do regional play. Go back to 11 regular season games, play 4 "non-region" or "non-conference" games. That allows to any rivalry games that are not currently region games to be play so schools can continue rivalries and get good gates. Then 7 region games. Those region games will determine playoff seeding. Playoffs would still be divided western and eastern divisions. Cut the playoffs to 4 rounds and let the best of the best in.
CATA should be thrown out on their own, they can't play football and that throws everything off.
Also another thing that people were saying 4 years ago that I think would be great is making football only conferences. Football present a dynamic that no other sports really present. WS competing in the conference you listed above year in and year out would be extremely difficult as it would be for Anson as well. Conversely all of those school are mediocre to bad at the sports that are not based on physicality so they would have a really hard time competing with schools that are good at the country club sports.
