Looking at the National Maxpreps rankings as of today. Reidsville, Shelby and South Point all lost ground nationally. Reidsville lost 98 spots but a team out of Baltimore with a 2-4 record moved up 400 plus spots. East Duplin gained 88 spots nationally. It's a good thing the AP and USA Today polls don't work the same. If Alabama or Clemson plays an FCS team or a bottom feeder of their conference, they don't drop nationally.

I guess we have to look at through the glass of 2a NC rankings. I looked at a new site to me last night. Carolina varsity.com last night. Very detailed reports on all classifications in NC. Breaks down everything from games played, future predictions, playoffs, etc. Very well thought out and seems to use very detailed computer analytics. I wish NCHSAA would look at a combination of sites like theirs. It would use people who follow NC Football week in and week out a chance to seed the playoffs.

+1

The Lions would prefer the Bridges BBQ home town poll. President and CEO 72 champion would continue his non biased analysis for the good of the sport.

Sorry FBCap, great points all.

Great site. Probably will be trashed soon by Champ 98/72/etc after he sees their predicted scores in the playoffs. Another silly computer program that just doesn't understand that no team in the universe could possibly beat his mighty Golden Lions.;)

We did loose to the 5th ranked team in the country. So we can be beat. Lol

Let's just go ahead a put the the horse well out in front of the cart. Unless someone in Chapel Hill has a brain fart, 2017 is the year 2A and 2AA return to Kenan Stadium. On a personal note, I hope 2A is on Friday night.

Not surprised that South Point dropped - a victory over the 86th (out of 113) ranked 2A schools doesn't mean much. It will drop more when we play Chase (#102) on 10/21. Shelby just played Chase while Reidsville wiped the field with Carrboro (#108).

Where are the respective championships held this year? Thought 2A/2AA was at Carter Finley....

I know 2A was UNC in 2005 and 2009. I don't remember 2013 but if four year rotation is upheld, 2017 would be UNC again.

If I'm correct, 2A is Wake, State, Duke/Split, UNC

We played at State the last two years. Wake in '14 and UNC in '13. I am assuming since Duke has the upgraded stadium, they will probably send 4A there. I am guessing each facility will have two games on Saturday. They should be announcing it soon.

If you watch this report you'll find its probably one of the most inaccurate sites ever.

State site shows championships Dec 8 & 9. I may have a vested interest in the 4A game. So I'm hoping for a Friday night 2A game.

Called NCHSAA to ask which college has which classification for state championship purposes (times TBD):

-1A/AA = State
-2A/AA = UNC
-3A/AA = Duke
-4A/AA = Wake Forest

Some of you guys probably already knew that, but I wanted to get it straight from the horse. Now, if they only would have shared the ADMs....;)

Dang...I was hoping 2A would be at Duke. I want to see the new facilities. Wake Forest by far has the best field and atmosphere, among the four, for a high school state championship game.

That would never work for the host colleges involved. They have to plan for these events long in advance.

Set the venue for set number of games and times. Then place teams.

This year will be a lot of overlap with four sites. When two teams from same area make the final it us tough to see both play. Wish 1A and 4A would have went to four rounds and finished a week before 2A and 3A.

I don't think schools like Wake Forest, Duke, NC State, or Carolina will wait around to see if they are "selected" to possibly host a game that could go to Elon, UNC-C, etc

You misunderstood. They would have to pick two to four sites. The school would know they are getting the games and the days, Friday and / or Saturday, well in advance which is necessary to line up workers, field maintenance, and sponsors among other items. The sub-class playing there would not be determined until the Saturday after the regional title games.

One issue in the past with FCS schools is they do not want to commit due to their playoffs.

My point is make the switch. No classification ever comes close to filling the stadiums. Just imagine a Reidsville/Shelby game at UNCC. Would be very close to a packed house or Elon. Much more exciting in a packed house.

When there are back to back games with only 1.5 to 2 hours between the field being cleared the entry and exit of the fans becomes an issue. Elon has about 12,000 capacity. That would be tight for a lot of the games but more than enough for some. Even with the smaller crowds they would need to spread the time between games for the people to leave and others to come in. I like Elon's setup with the track and a soccer field beside the stadium. Teams can do walk throughs and some warmups there if they wish.

I consider Greensboro the center of the state east to west for the playoffs. UNC Charlotte is 84 miles from NC A&T while Carter Finley is 71. Charlotte is a great facility and good location with plenty of hotels and things to do that may help draw some additional fans. It has turf which I is beneficial in bad weather with multiple games played over a weekend.

NC A&T is a good setup and centralized location although I hate the track around the field.

App and ECU are too far from the center of the state.

Prefer NC State over UNC for parking and they provide more assistance but no ones compares to the Wake staff and the size of the stadium is perfect with good parking. Hopefully Duke will be much improved as they were not interested at all when they had the games before and the facility, renovated with the track removed (!!!), will definitely be better.

I hate four sites as it kills it for the football fan and if Shelby is at Wake and Crest (or their equivalent) are at one of the other schools the fan must pick only one game which has happened before.

Would love it! I would be good with Wake Forest, also. That game is too big for Elon.

Lol. Those idiots have SP ranked 9th and Shelby 15th. They also predict Reidsville to beat Shelby 35-12. Reidsville may win if they play but I'd bet my front teeth it wouldn't be anywhere near a 23 point margin.

Hey there Sucker, you might want to lay something on the line other than your front teeth. Could be a little expensive having to replace them.:(
