Only a triple over time loss to West Columbus back in early December keeps Fairmont (28-1) from being undefeated. The Golden Tornadoes will bring a 25-game winning streak to Saturday's game.
West Columbus (22-6) is the No. 2 seed in 1-A East and is also in the sweet 16. They will be playing at home vs. Granville Central Saturday. Fairmont blew out West Columbus in the other two meetings this season.
From looking at the Fairmont roster, they will have a height advantage over Reidsville but they are not super big (like Greensboro Smith) ... 6-2 junior Javon Morris is their leading scoring at 14.3 PPG but it's a balanced offense with 5-10 senior Derrick Arnette averaging 13.9, 5-11 senior Corry Addison 11.9, 6-0 senior Sidney McKeithan 8.5 and 6-4 senior Nalijha Pittman 7.5.
The 14-man roster on MaxPreps lists 7 seniors.
In the first two playoff rounds, Fairmont rolled over Graham 72-33 and Hertford County 84-68.
