Five teams have a legitimate chance of winning the Sandhills Athletic Conference football championship. Seventy-First looks to be the favorite, as the Falcons host Richmond and Scotland. Challenging the Falcons for the conference title will be the Raiders of Richmond Senior, and, their battle in Fayetteville on Friday, October 26 could be a battle for the conference title. The talent cupboard at Soctland is not bare, but not as full as compared to past seasons. Also, the Fighting Scots have had a number of changes on their coaching staff which could have an effect on team chemistry. Jack Britt will be improved this season. Pinecrest will have a difficult season with seven road games, and will be tested. Hoke County, Lumberton, and Purnell Swett will be fighting to stay out of the conference cellar. Hoke County has lost 13 straight games. Former NFL player and Hoke County alumnus George Small takes over as new head coach at Hoke County. Former West Brunswick head coach Kelly Williamson takes over the head coaching spot at Lumberton.
