Rd 1 Mallard Creek vs Lake Norman

With this game I will take Mallard Creek. One thing to mention about Lake Norman QB. He is a freshman at 6’5 190lbs. I can honestly see this QB being another Josh Ladowski coming up. After next year when Mooresville QB graduates, Lake Norman QB will be the QB of the conference should the conference stay the same.

3rd to Hough
It's perplexing how a team with so much talent can consistently perform well during the regular season but choke in the playoffs/Championship year after year. Sometimes, a team can be dominant throughout the season but face an opponent in the playoffs that has a style of play or strategy that counters their strengths.

i was at the Creek Hough game earlier this year and that was a complete azz wooping from start to finish. The special teams from creek was about the worst ive seen all year any team, maybe the performance that night is just an outliar to their year but this game is by no means a lock for creek. Hard to take an upset here though,
Are you suggesting that their game does not live up to the expectations that have been discussed in this forum throughout the season?

Yes Indeed. I believe they blocked 4 or 5 punts. I'm the NCPREPS Mallard Creek homer. That was one of the ugliest whippings in school History since the doors were opened in 2007. 😢😥 We never got off the Bus.

LKN has a good future with that QB. 6’5 freshman can sling it.

But we sacked him like 12 times. I’d imagine, unless LN can find a way to scheme ways to take pressure off him, he will be running for his life.

But don’t sleep on his mobility, if Creek loses discipline, and he’s able to get around the edge scrambling, the kid has wheels. He’s deceptively quick.

i suggest this is a live game, LN should not be taken lightly, the creek that showed up at
hough plays then creek stays home with a L... LN maybe a live dog here as the saying goes

So you don’t give Watauga a chance in round 2 if they win. It’s a long way out but the weather forecast is calling for AM Snow Showers next Friday in Boone.
I believe there will be some upsets during the playoffs. Looking past teams will get you there. Mallard Creek plays Lake Norman, and they’re the only team in discussion.

For sure. One game and a time. I was just responding to that post. I went watched the game last year. Even though it wasn’t one of MC greatest teams I always wanted to see MC play a game. If it happens again in Boone I want be able to go this time. My son’s team made the D3 playoffs so I will probably be traveling next Friday

Personally I don’t see Ln winning but Ln will be prepared and they will do what they do. Coach O one thing he does best is get the most out of his players

Lake Norman is not a bad team, but I think they are couple years away from being a really good team. Next year they should improve and get better each year after that. But with this game I just don’t see them winning it. We will see.

I was impressed with Wautaga last year. Very well coached and a dynamic QB. That said if they get by LKN I would hope MC learned some valuable lessons from that game. There best player touched the ball twice in the first half and scored on one of them.

Correct. Coach O’s ability to maximize his players' potential is a significant factor; he has a knack for getting the best out of his team in high-pressure situations. I have personally seen Lake Norman rise to the occasion against tougher opponents, showcasing their resilience and strategic gameplay. Their defense, in particular, has proven to be a strong asset, often stifling opposing teams’ offensive strategies.

Mallard Creek has had the same issue during the entire Tinsley era. Good to great defenses but the offense has been far below average for the top tier teams. They haven't scored more than 2 offensive TD's against good competition in the past 3 years. Tons of speed and athletes but its been QB play, Oline and to some degree play calling which has really hurt them. The Coach P teams always had some dominant and physical Olines and that just has not been the case recently. They almost always had one or two Olineman who went on to play Power 5 football each year. Cant recall the last Creek Olineman to play power 5 ball. Guessing it was Parker Moorer and Uriah Greene in 2018-19.

That said, I havent seen LKN play football in at least 4 years but a 6-5 Freshman QB equals a problem againt MC defense. The recipe to beat MC is pound the ball, no mistakes and stay on schedule. All you should need is 21-24 pts. Not sure in LKN can do that.

MC-21 LKN-10
