It's true...next head coach!! Pending board approval...at least that's what robesonian is posting
Can someone give some details on him? I know he went 3-8 as a HC and then 1-10 as an offensive coordinator. That's 4-18 in the last 2 years. This will be his 3rd team in 3 years. Last year's Byrd team only averaged 11 points a game. Swett's JV team last year averaged about 40 points a game and of course those guys will be varsity players this year. I'm a little concerned about the offense. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Jayvee is Jayvee please dont compare our JV's record to what can happen at the varsity level. Not saying that to be harsh. Other schools in our conference just reload. Also, they will put there better JV players on V at the Sophomore level. Mark Heil didnt like doing that. For example, Ethan Clarke. He was the fastest player PS has had since 2006. He played JV until the playoffs in 2007.

Coach Heil was not a offensive minded coach.... everyone knows that. He was defensive minded. His mindset was 3 yds and a puff of smoke. score 20 but keep the other team below 20. you win. He had success the first stint and the beginning of the second stint at PSHS.
now to the question...... if we have struggled in the past scoring why get a Offensive coordinator that cannot score???? Remember Stone was DB coach prior to being fired and prior to Sherman. Fayetteville is a Athletic Gold Mine and always produces a strike. Stone won at DB, the athletes didnt change just reload yearly. What offense did/will he run??? Will he relocate to the area??? Will he be here longer than a1 yr?????
Also, Linda's Resturant is ordering a truck load of chicken and BBQ so she can get prepped for the shaking of babies and kissing of hands. I wonder if people will try to pass out McDonald Cheeseburgars again to the boys on Thursday. The fire is lit again in West Robeson for football.

The football team has not been around for a annoucement to who will replace Mark Heil. unfortunate the173herd was around for the Bill James debacle of 94. itwas and can be cmpared to Hurricane Katrina. so we will call it Principle Bill. in 94 all was well. the football team was coming off of a playoff year. the JV's (then had the best record in school history) was looking promising. Heil went to Principle Bill and ask for equipment. Principle Bill said "NO". Mark Heil dealing with personnal issues decided with tears in his eyes in front of a tearful group of football players that he was leaving. just like New Orleans and Katrina. Principle Bill destroyed PS football in a matter of 24 hrs.
Once the next coach was annouced each player was bamboozled with a all you can eat BBQ and Chicken meal from Lindas. we can call that FEMA. Also in 07 a member of the gridironclub call him Ray Nagin (mayor of NO during Katrina) would come around with cheeseburgers and cameras spreading "for the team" but truthfully it was for himTOself.

Ok. So as an outsider I have tried to follow this line of Posts. When is the new coach supposed to be named, any frontrunners, etc. I love Swett's animations but it's hard to follow what's going on?
My Spanglish isn't that good, but my decifer states a coach is rumored but waiting for the board to approve on Tuesday.
So I interpret that as the Douglas Byrd assistant will be the new coach. My Spanish is kind of rough.

Sherman will be successful if he does 4 thing:
1. Take grasp of what purnell Swett was founded on tough, hard nose, physical football.
2. Get into the middle schools. Ensure they are running his offense at the youngest levels. If the middles schools are worried about winning a county championship then have the county ad ask them to move on.
3. Start a pembroke/prospect and maxton football association and be the prez. Be the father of the program do not let any lawyer, doctor, or telephone man run the program. Get the kids at the 5, 6, and 7 year old from all communities to see him regularly and they will have the mentality of they will want to play for him.
4. Make his players athletes. Highly encourage his players to participate in other sports. Big boys should wrestle and throw things for track. Pretty boys should play bball/wrestle and run track or baseball.
If he does this he will not just be successful at purnell all other sports will be successful.
A great man once told me on a ride to pick up game film for the game against AC Reynolds if you want a successful school year you will need a successful football year.
