Bears pull out a good win in the cold in round 1. I know very little about Forestview just to be honest. Bears a little banged up after Friday, hopefully can get healthy during the week, Thoughts on the upcoming game, can the Bears sneak into round 3, i know Crest likely awaits but another week of practice and every game these younger guys can get is just more experience.

This could be one of the best 2nd round games in 3A.. I may just ride up and see this one.. I'll go with Pisgah at home by 3

The game is at Forestview. Two words Moe Neal, no way Pisgah stops him.

Pisgah needs to control the ball, have long drives, eat up the clock, and limit the number of times FV gets the ball. They need to be on the + side of the turnovers.

They don't match up well with FV. If they stack the box to stop Neal, FV can go 5 wide with a qb that can run. I also think FV's defense matches up well against Pisgah's offense.

Again, the key for Pisgah is to have long drives and shorten the game.

Looking forward to going to Gastonia. As for how great Forestview is and how the Bears don't have a chance.Kings Mountain beat them by a 41-27 score. The same Kings Mountain team that West Henderson beat 35-21.I know that comparing scores don't really mean a lot but you know just saying. So yeah I am sure the Bears are scared to death of them, sure they are..I will agree that we have to play better than we did this week. Can't afford the fumbles and penalties.Win or lose the Bears have come a long ways from where we started. If we keep it close going into the fourth quarter we can win.Bears by six.

I wouldn't say that FV is great, and I certainly don't feel that Pisgah is scared. However, the style of play/matchup seems to favor FV, but that's why they play. I certainly think that if Pisgah plays their style of game, it could go either way, and Pisgah has a good chance. If it becomes a high scoring back and forth game, FV will blow their doors off.

During the Pisgah/Hibriten game, Pisgah scored on a pass play to tie the game at 13. It looked as if the Pisgah QB crossed the line of scrimmage, and then doubled back behind the line before he threw. Just wondering if that is legal, don't know the rule on that one???

No that's not legel at all would have been an illegal forward pass if that were the case. That being said I think u need to find a tape and watch that play again maybe you had a bad angel?

Especially since the ref was standing on the line not three feet from Lucas our Q/B and never called it because he never went past the ref or the line.I did see where the Hibritten coach said we had linemen down field that would have nullified the td.If they didn't call it it don't matter.

O.K., but I wasn't there. I watched it on film. Very clear...... Ball was on the Hibriten 41 yard line. QB rolls to his right, crosses the line all the way across the 40 to the 39. Then the QB backs up to the line at the 41 and throws. No doubt about it.

Just went back again and watched it. Crossed directly in front of the line judge and then backed out. Touchdown, tie game.

Also showed this highlight to someone else for confirmation. Clearly crossed the line of scrimmage for a two yard gain before backing up and throwing for the TD.

I don't care as I don't have any rooting interest in Pisgah or Hibriten, but there's no doubt what happened.

And..... I just watched it one more time and yes, there were offensive linemen downfield. All 5 (five) were across the line when it was thrown.Again, it really doesn't matter to me, just pointing it out.

Just wondering where you watched the film.I checked 13 and they never showed that play.

I have seen Forestview now three times. Their early season loss to Kings Mountain and their back to back wins over East Gaston. They are vastly improved from early in the season and comparing scores from that far back wouldn't be wise. They've really found their niche now with RB Moe Neal. He's a star and only a junior. He's fast, shifty and can change directions and be going a different direction before a defender is quick enough to react. They have a good combination of speed and power and can spread the ball around and spread you out. Of course, I've only seen 37.5% of their offensive formations (3 of 8), so I can only imagine how good they really are. Defensively, they are one of the better defenses we've faced all season. Tough draw for the Black Bears.

If you have Hudl access, you can watch it. Huge play. THE play of the game. One play doesn't make a difference, but in this case, it did. Two missed penalties on one game changing play.

Forestview is scoring around 40 points per game and allowing about 20 ppg

Pisgah is only scoring 20 ppg and only giving up about 12 ppg

Forestview will be a handful...but Pisgah gave Erwin a good game and I think Erwin and Forestview have a lot in common.

I think Forestview runs away with this one... if Pisgah had that 2006 team I saw against Shelby...I'd definitely pick Pisgah.

Everyone in the BSL has a losing record except SP. So how are suppose to tell how good FV is? The teams they played that were good they lost to. Once again with the exception to SP. Looks and sounds like to me FV is in the same boat as Pisgah.

As to lineman being down field.........lineman have a 3 yd free blocking zone, so moving off the line of scrimmage does not constitute a lineman down field. This is the umpires call as he moves to the LOS to watch for any holding during the play. If he missed it, then its his poor judgement. As for the upcoming game.........do not discount the Quality of the PHS coaching staff to examine film, make adjustments, and game plan to give the team the best opportunity to be competitive! I hope we can do something with our defense, they have been poorly prepared and executed poorly all year!!!!

If Forestview has an above average defense, then they will win the game by 14 plus. Pisgah's offense cannot move the ball against a quality defense.

Forestview won in round one 48-14. Forestview also took out Moe Neal and Crawford at half time, no snaps in the second half at all. 41-7 at halftime. If you can't score 40 points your in trouble. I'm looking foward to seeing a team I never seen before. You guys feel free to come by early and stop by the pressbox and chat some ball for awhile. Have a safe trip down.

BlueVols posted in the Pisgah/Hibriten thread that the qb in high school can re-establish back behind the line and still throw. So, if that is the case, no foul for crossing the line and backing up. However, of the 5 lineman that were across the line when the ball was thrown, three (3) were beyond the 38 yard line with the LOS at the 41.

That's interesting about re-establishing. Learn something new everyday.

That's not saying a lot for your Mounties, since we put 37 points on them.

I said a quality defense. Unlike you, I am able to admit the weaknesses of the team I pull for. Our defense was bad and that's why you scored 37. I hope Pisgah wins but I can't see you being able to move the ball against a good defense. When you get past the first round, you better have some playmakers and there are very few of those in Haywood County.

Kings Mountain won 35-21! Forestview played like absolute crap in that game. Plus that was before injuries derailed Kings Mountain's season. Forestview has gotten much better since that game, especially on defense. Don't forget that Forestview gave #1 2A team, East Lincoln, all they could handle the following week. I don't think the Mustangs had a close game after that.

First I don't care whether you pull for us or not.You may be right about that score. But win or lose
on Friday.Any year we beat the Mounties it's a good year no matter what happens in the playoffs.

lets keep it that way porter....that part of the county should be beach front anyway!!! GO FORESTVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it will be a good game, i don't know how we handle the running game i've watched Neal and we will have our hands full with him and the O line looks really good. That being said the Bears will come to hit and will play hard nosed. I agree the O has had a hard time moving the ball all year at times and doesnt have the big play ability that we have had over the past several years. Control the tempo pound out 3rd and shorts and win the turnover battle and we will have a shot. West end supporters head on over to the basketball boards. Oh yeah nothing to look forward to there either!

RealJaguar is Neal getting any college attention? Ive only seen highlights on youtube and obviously they are made to look good but i can tell they kid is really quick and looks like he also splits out and has good hands as a receiver and is deadly in the open field i really like his vision. Or did last year at least. I know hes a little bit light or his listing is but looks like he has a body that can add some bulk? Agian thats just from watching his film, is gaining any attention going into his senior year?

Was offered by Mississippi State his freshman year. I don't know exact numbers but I know Miss State, Tennessee are 2 of them, but dont quote me on that. I believe it's somewhere between 8 and 10 division 1 offers..

Good for him, we will have our hands full but i hope we can go down and compete and make it a fun game to watch. We have really improved either way and im proud of the kids from the first game till now they have came a long way! Field looks good and vistors side looks to have some seating which is always a good thing. Still natural grass Jaguar?

It's no secret that FV will be a tough team. Who knows what will happen its high school football. The Bears will prepare and play with everything they've got in the tank;this you can be sure of. As far as having to score 40, I highly doubt they'll have to.
Bears held Franklin scoreless for 3qtrs and led Erwin 17-0. These two teams can score on anyone.
The key is for Pisgah to play keep away. Long drives, shorting the game. If Pisgah can't get first downs they'll be in trouble. Which is no secret either.
FV's D-line looks good in the video clips on maxpreps. Their "D" swarms to the ball good. Pisgah will have to keep them guessing for sure. Hopefully Pisgah can contain Moe and not let him into the open.

91, that end of the county is closer to being oceanfront than we are, hence your football team. Hey ya reckon some those retirees could bring some of their grandchildren up to help out? You know since Florida is full of 4 and 5 star recruits.

mtnair, we got a play maker, thank you very much.

91ths, curious how you figure you all led "almost" the entire Pisgah-Tuscola game. End of 1st 16-13 Pisgah, halftime 16-13 Pisgah, end of third 23-20 Pisgah, and end of game 37-20 Pisgah.

don't take it personal blackbear. I hadn't messed with you guys much this season so im just trying to get a rise out of yall

I think Forestview is overrated, they got handled by Kings Mountain........Kings Mountain's team this year was average at best and that tells a lot about FV... Just saying..
