NW 3A / 4A In 2025

It seems to me that most have the league pegged pretty well. It is the non-conference schedule that should tell a gigantic story of how the projected top four fair in the State payoffs.
If Mt Airy handles Starmount, Watauga, Jefferson Forest (VA), and conference foe West Stokes with some degree of margin, then Mt Airy could make another appearance in December.
These are the Mt Airy games that could tell a big story for them or against them.

Also, the new additions (assuming the rumors are true and accurate) Mt Airy could be adding significantly to the expectations for this season.

Looks to me that West Stokes biggest non-conference games are Community School of Davidson and Statesville. Of course not sure anyone should overlook North Davidson but in total the non-conference schedule does not seem be much more than kind of stiff.

East Surry has games with Statesville, North Forsyth, Starmount, Walkertown and a trip to Murphy. OMG they will have their hands full in everyone of these games. Either they will be absolutely battle tested, or beat to a pulp before conference (or both).

On the other hand North Surry does not seem to have even a reasonably tough non-conference schedule. They should rack up wins before conference but then reality might just set in.

Yeah, little disappointed in North Surry's non-conference schedule. If they're not 5-0 going into conference, it could be a long conference schedule for them.

Are you referring to the QB or something else as rumor? Kid looks good on Hudl and his X highlights, but time will tell. I will say he definitely seems to be putting the work in and looks to be aiming for things past high school. Good on him. I like the drive.

The non-conference schedule is like the secret sauce to figure out who's gonna be the dawg this season. For Mt. Airy, slaying Starmount, Watauga, and Jefferson Forest is a **must**. If they smack 'em around, they'll strut into playoffs like they own the place! Historically, the teams that kick butt in these brawls catch that sweet, sweet momentum, and roll into the postseason like a bowling ball through a cornfield!

I think Mt Airy is on another level from everyone else. I could honestly see 2-4 all be tied in conference. Otherwise, I could see them all beating each other and losing to Mount Airy. Finishing with a 3-2 conference record. And no, I’m not a My Airy fan.

On a side note, this is one of Central’s better trams. If they would have been placed in Wilkes Counties conference, Central would have had a good season.

First of all, NO ONE actually knows anything except the season is coming quickly.
Having said that, I will say I am hearing that there is a lot of excitement around the Mt Airy Defense.
Apparently everyone has bought into the weight room work, not just this off season but for the past 4 to 5 years.

If this translates into real ability on the field, then other teams are going to have a hard time moving the ball, much less scoring.
Hard to win a game if you can not score.

And of course there is the affect of the non-existent high school portal. In the lower/smaller divisions a transfer or two or 4 can make a lot of difference to an already good team. In another week or so, those questions most likely will start to be confirmed or not.

In another thread about a different conference someone posted the recent history of the teams. According to Carolina Preps, here is the record for the past 9 years of the Northwest Conference teams:
Mt Airy 108 and 14
North Surry 54 and 42
East Surry 95 and 24
Surry Central 38 and 57
West Stokes 65 and 40
Forbush 42 and 51

The Summerville young man I would consider a portal guy as his family moved a long way. And yes to be a rising freshman he certainly looks to be really good, at least given time.
But to answer your question, no, what I am hearing is more of an immediate impact nature.
Of course until it actually happens in fact it is only rumor.

Time will tell but it's difficult to win with freshman QB. He will gain experience during the regular season to hopefully be ready come playoff time.

I really do not see him being the starting QB for Mt Airy, at list at the start of the season.
He would have to displace Hermic (jr) or last years backup (Sr).
Having said that, a very talented freshman took over 4A Lake Norman last year from a good Senior in game 4.
So time will tell.
