NOTE TO EDENTON HOLMES FAN AND PLAYERS

When you said you were bringing a fan base you didn't disappoint. Have never seen that many people in visitors bleachers other than a closer rivalry game. Your fans showed class along with the players. We at South Columbus want to say thank you for the way you represented your school with pride and class. We hope you enjoyed the bog if were able to get it before it sold out. Biggest 50/50 pot in South history of $920.00 to the winner. One last thing....you guys better go and win state!! We are pulling for you!!

Wow! Many thanks for this post complimenting our team and fans. Edenton is a great small town and Holmes HS is the only high school in the county, so everyone cheers for the Aces. Lots of pride in our program. Says a lot about how much we love our Aces to travel 500 miles round trip to sit in 28 degrees for 3 hours. Got home this morning at 2:15am. We also thank the many Richmond County Raiders fans who came over to support their former coach, Paul Hoggard and QB Luke Hoggard. I estimate that at least 30 fans on our side were Raiders/Hoggard fans.

Observations about SC from an Aces fan (bear with me on the length of the post):

• SC has awesome facilities especially for 2A
• SC has a great game day experience. At Holmes we have a fireworks show and blue smoke and play AC/DC when the team runs on the field at the start of the game and SC matches that with a canon, pre-recorded Stallion sound effects and play AC/D.C.
• Unique and delicious food choices
• Fans were hospitable on the front end, knowledgeable during the game and complimentary on the back end. Another thing I noticed is that they did not head to the exits even after the game was obviously over which is unlike a lot of fan bases
• SC is huge up front and had good skill players. The two running backs were very athletic and I was most impressed with #40. He is a bull and I love the way he plays. I made a point to congratulate him two times after the game and tell him how much I appreciated the way he played
• I like your coach
• SC has a ton of players returning including #40. They will make noise again next year

Alright, let's get this straight once and for all: It ain't AC/DC at the start of games at Aces Stadium. It's Enter Sandman by Metallica!! Having made that correction, I second everything my fellow Aces fan has stated here about SC, the players, coaches, and fans. Most of all, I want a beard like Coach Dove!!

That is insane. I'd love to be in that drawing!

I just had to say real quick that I agree with Wing 100%. EH fans were great and the players showed lots of class after the game. No gloating, shook hands and went to their end of the field to celebrate. That really was a huge visitors side crowd to come from 4 hours away, but then again I can see why you would make that trip with the team you have. Your qb is a really good player and athlete, easy to see he is a coaches son. Best of luck at Winston Salem!!

It all starts at the top w/ Coach Paul Hoggard who, in my opinion, is one of the best in the business. We are incredibly fortunate to have him back home (grew up in Bertie, one county west of us) and coaching our Aces. In his post game talk to the players and fans, he intentionally instructed our players to be "first-class" and gracious toward the SC team. Our players have really bought into his game plan and way of doing things. After we win this year's state championship (knock on wood), I hope Hoggard will lead us to an ongoing tradition of success and winning some the right way. Thanks again! Good luck next year in 2A. Aces go down to 1A next fall.

Is Wallace Rose Hill staying 1A? If so I'm calling that these two teams meet in the playoffs. WRH was the only other team that beat us like y'all did. Id love to see that game!

Clinton, WRH, JK, ED will be an awesome 4 way battle every year.
