North Davidson vs. Lexington

ND will be up 49-0 at halftime and completely let off the gas aka get out of the car actually and end up winning by 55ish points. same story different week.

I cannot in good conscience vote for it as game of the week. In no way do I expect a game that will be 40-0 by halftime to be the “game of the week”

It isn't about it being the best game of the week, it is about getting two programs exposure, along with band and cheerleaders, and school's as a whole. Thanks for the commentary.

Well, well. Here we are... Another matchup with the hated Jackets. No reason to think this won't go the way it has the last 20 years or so, but you never know. Lexington could step up and surprise me.

Defense will get after them and the running game will rip them to shreds. Looking forward to the annual rivalry, I have to check but I think North may have finally overtaken them in the series. Lexington dominated for 20 plus years, and we've dominated the last 20 plus. So it should be close...

While I think ND wins, probably by a lot....I do think it is a game ND could give up a few points (3-10 max). Lexington has too many athletes not to expect them to come out swinging for the fences. I am looking forward to this game against Lexington in addition to the Salisbury and Ledford games. Glad the competition starts ramping back up before playoffs, it can only help the team get better and more focused as November gets here. That plus staying healthy are the most important things. It's hard to do, but can you get better as a team each and every week?

Like another poster....I am curious about the Ledford/Salisbury game. I could see that one going either way and the game has ramifications as one of those two teams likely ends up as the CCC #2 seed for playoff ranking purposes. With 2A/2AA being so loaded this year, the games will get intense a round earlier than usual. Having the best seed possible is going to be important, same for home team/field advantage.

He is good to go.....thank you for asking. Bruised up and really sore the next day, but all of the moving parts were still attached and functional, so that was good. He was able to work out on Sunday and that helped get a lot of soreness out as well. Doing ice baths, heat therapy each day to recover as much as possible in the meantime.

On Sunday afternoon he found out he made the Shrine Bowl so I think that was a nice remedy for what was hurting!

Glad to hear He is okay! And Congrats to Him on the selection, very proud to have Him representing ND, and I know He is excited, as well as The Family. The Kid has an exciting, and bright future for sure! I wish Him the best. Big things happening if they keep working hard and stay focused!

Series record is 29-23 Lexington. They really owned us for a long time lol. We won a title in 66, they won in 67. We tied Shelby in 75, they lost to Shelby in 76. We beat them two years in a row before they won state two years in a row in the 80s. I hate them but I respect their history and tradition. Hope they get back to their winning ways eventually, with the right coach.

Enjoyed the stats and results, but, I can tell you that 1992 was the other way around! Old Man here, lol

So 92 was actually a win for ND? I thought it was crazy seeing that on the carolinapreps records, since Lexington didn't seem to be anything special in 92 and we had a pretty good team again under coach Cline

Unfortunately I was 0-3 against the Jackets. We lost a heartbreaker in 78. In 79 it rained just a little on Friday and they moved game to Monday and we played in constant downpour from beginning to end. My senior year we lost again but Joe McIntosh and I were the players of the game. He rushed for 150 yards and scored 2 TD's and I had 3 sacks and 19 tackles.

19 tackles!?!?! Goodness you must have been tired afterwards!

Since the turn of the century, we have righted the ship against them. I wonder what all the factors are. I suppose Lexington once being a booming town getting the furniture industry assassinated may have small role.

I had a heck of the game but the Lord gets the glory not me. In 78 we went 8-2. Lost to Lexington and T-Ville. Tyrone Delapp scored 6 TD's in the first 2 games but was lost for the season in a practice injury. With him all year this team had State Championship potential.

77, who was the coach then?

i fixed the 1992 score. Carolina Preps had it listed incorrectly. It didn't seem right. I'm an old guy from that era as well. I'll fix the rest of the stuff in the post later his evening.

Those 2002, 2006, and 2010 losses hurt lol.

Cory Holt beat us all by himself in 2002, though I think overall we had the better team. 2006 was embarrassing, my senior year. We were up 3-0 with a minute left and our corner fell for a running back pass. On third down and long...

2010 we were clearly better but overlooked a talented team led by Marquez Greyson (spelling?)

So we never know what is going to happen. Can't rest on our laurels...

I would say between furniture and textiles(to the extent they once were) leaving, and families moving into the county and other areas. wonder what the enrollment at LSHS was back in the early 90's, I know in '91 and '92 they were 3A, so I would imagine their numbers have dropped significantly....

There are a lot of parallels between Thomasville and Lexington, in their economic circumstance and in their school systems. Can't speak to Lexington's numbers, but I know Thomasville dropped from 1000+ students in the 70's and 80's to 500-700 over the past twenty years.
Where these parallel paths diverge is in the size of the districts. Lexington's LEA is actually larger than their city limits, while Thomasville's district is much smaller than the city limits. Most Thomasville students attend county schools. Thomasville's population is 40% larger than Lexington, but I believe Lexington has more students.
There are only two ways for Thomasville's school system to be successful educationally....repeal the 1983 law that froze the school district lines, or merger. Neither can happen politically or financially. Davidson County seems to be proud of our position as dead last of 100 counties in per capital spending on education.
The above affects the two city systems athletically, but far more important are the academic implications.

Sorry, back to the game:)

Defensively Lexington doesnt have an answer for ND offense and as long as ND can stop Lexington's QB then this will be just a typical Friday night for the Black Knights. Just heard there was an article published back in August that has Lexington's head coach saying that no team in this conference will go 9-0. Rule number one when talking to the media is never give your opponents fuel to play on. I can only imagine Coach Flynn and his staff have used this for their advantage and given these boys something to play for on Friday. Lex Coach may regret what he said...

Your hard pressed to find a man who was more dedicated to ND than Steve was. Than man was a legend at North and should have something named after him. Lived and breathed Black Knights. He was a good man to me. Wonder how he’s doing.
