Not football. The wrestling forum has been deleted. Newton Conover won two matches tonight to advance to the state championship finals. They will face Dixon High from the east again in the finals.

Ten straight years Newton has been in the final four and this is the sixth finals in that ten years. Titletown keeps adding trophies to the many cases. Finals are Saturday at Newton. Go Red Devils.

Newton-Conover wins 34-25 tonight for their 3rd title in 4 years. 9 straight years with a sports title and 15 in ten years. Congrats to Coach Eddy Clark and the Red Devils. Congrats to Dixon High for getting back to the finals again.

Eddy has built more than "teams" that win championships, he has built a community wrestling "program" and that is paying off in championship caliber teams. And that doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon.

Could get interesting locally in two years when Foard drops to 2A. You'll have N-C, Foard and West Lincoln, three power wrestling programs within a very short distance of each other presumably competing for regional championships annually. Add an improving Maiden to that bunch and wrestling matches may really heat up as a "must see" events.
