Hope the Burns, Crest, KM, Cramer, Ashbrook, Huss, NOGA and Forestview conference sticks. Tired of split conferences.
I can't imagine South Point and East Gaston wanting to go to Rutherford County.

As I've said before:
Chase, ER, RS, EB, Patton, Draughn

Shelby, SP, EG, Lincolnton, EL, WL, NL, LNC
Foard, NC, Maiden, Bandys, BH, Hibriten, WI
 
Gaston County folks fighting to keep them in one conference regardless of split. Problem with that is it burdens several other counties but I can see that not mattering much to those pushing for this.
 
Looks like SP and EG lose if things stay the way they are proposed.

Terrible football conference especially for travel. But good baseball and wrestling conference. 6 non conference football games is just stupid.

This draft is just a starting point. There will be MANY changes before a final combination is determined.
 
Crest and Kings Mountain will be the only decent football teams in that conference. Travel wise this conference for all sports is perfect except for Burns.
 
The 3A conference is just as it should be. The 2A conference sucks all the way around except for Shelby and South Point - football gate, rivalry. The Rutherford County teams will never get a good playoff seed short of both SP and Shelby forfeiting all their games.

CC02 is right that the GC AD is going to push for that split conference. I wish he would stop trying to push the "In GC we love our cousins" agenda. Aside from Trashbrook and Forestview there is no competition in football. While the proposed 3A conference is not spectacular, it is workable. Instead, the GC AD should be focusing on creating a decent 2A conference with the Lincoln County teams, LNC, and Shelby (if we can get them) as burnstweeter suggests and more achieveable.

Not sure why this wouldn't work for these schools...
Con 1-chase, east Rutherford, Rs central, draughn, east Burke, Patton

Con 2-bunker hill, foard, hibriten, Newton, west Iredell, bandys, maiden, lake Norman charter

Con 3-Shelby, south point, east gaston, east Lincoln, Lincolnton, north Lincoln, west Lincoln

Chance for some non con games amongst this group too.

I agree with your conferences Smashmouth, but East Burke does not want to be in a conference with the Rutherford County schools and I am not sure about Draughn or Patton. I think it would be more competitive for all those teams but The reason East Burke does not want to be in it is the gate the Rutherford County schools bring, and plus having to travel to Chase. I have also heard rumors that Hibriten wants to be in a league with Wilkes County. What do u do with Lake Norman Charter???

Y'all must don't remember the old Southwestern 3A conference. This is the same conference except EG did not exist and Lincolnton & KM was in the conference. I might be the only one on here, but I like the sound of this conference. Much better than the split, all Gaston Co conference those homer idiots keep pushing on us.

I'm loving the idea of a reunion of the former NW4A from the 1980's-2000's...but now in the form of a split league.

Having McDowell (4A) re-join the core members Freedom (3A), South Caldwell (4A), Hickory (3A), Watauga (3A) and Alexander Central (3A)...then add on West Caldwell (3A) and St. Stephens (3A)

I remember Chase, RS Central and Rutherford County being in the conference but then they were at least decent competition. Not so much these days. However, I am with you about the split. Would love to kick the GC AD in the rear to dislodge his brain. :rolleyes:

Catholic's conference is great I think. Several of those teams have been very good the last few years with a couple others on the rise.
Also the gates will be much improved because several of those teams already have rivalries with Catholic and some are old school rivalries like Monroe. Union County schools will travel much better than some of the schools Catholic currently plays in the So Meck
 
Not understanding the thought process behind moving Burlington Williams and Southern Alamance to 3A Conference H. Williams and Western Alamance is a huge county rivalry. To me it makes more sense to put Northern Guilford and NE Guilford in H and Williams and SA in I.

I agree with this mostly....and would love to see an old SWC conference.....but the members aren't the same so the conf. won't be the same. Only Shelby is close to what they used to be, and they aren't as good as they used to be in anything either (yes Shelby football fans....sorry but true: competition used to be 4 x stronger than what you play every week nowadays).

So, what I wish would happen would be for SP and EG to be granted 3a status and play in GACO based conference as it is now, and push out Crest and Burns.
The alternative to that, and what I was hoping for if we had to stay in 2a was to be in the Lincoln County conference.. if worried about expense/travel. That makes a lot of sense too.

It could be worse (way worse). Try 4 years in Charlotte, we have done that several times.

Those were four hard years for you guys. I personally always found it odd that you guys were playing in a conference with Charlotte schools.
Wasn't fair to yall for gates too, most of the teams in that old MEGA conference don't travel very well.

Given that they were the only 4A in Gaston County during that time, they didn't have a choice.
 
If the Gaston County schools have to be in a split conference, how about this one?.

3A - Crest, Burns, Kings Mountain, Ashbrook, Forestview, Hunter Huss, North Gaston, Stuart Cramer
2A - Shelby, East Gaston, South Point

A full 10-game schedule with only 1 non-conference game to worry about.

In the first draft there are no 3A/2A split conferences. All the splits are all 2A/1A and 4A/3A. looks like the state is trying to eliminate the 3A/2A splits.

I realize that but since the Gaston AD is so all fired up on having a split with all the Gaston schools together, at least ask for one worth having. ;)
 
If it stay this way Pisgah and the other teams in their conference would have to find six non conference teams to play for 11 games.
 
Play ACR we will need 3 games and it would be nice if they were WNC teams and not teams from Winston Salem. I'm sure Asheville, and Erwin would love that also.
