NCHSAA girls basketball playoffs 2025

I said Tuesday afternoon that I thought LN would either pull it together and blow North Meck out OR N Meck would blow out LN.
In my humble opinion I saw things in the warm up that impressed the daylights out of me from and about N Meck.

And early in the game N Meck was able to hang in with LN step for step. BUT then LN coaches made small adjustments to their traping defense, and the ladies figured out who was fast, who could handle the ball and where they liked to pass the ball, and LN just made a step at the time to go past them.

But make no mistake, this was not an easy game for LN and that was a good thing for them.

And I believe the game with Bishop helped prepare LN for N Meck. You could see in both of these games LN is truly 9 deep if not 10 and if their is a better player in the State than Junior and Navy commit Kelsey Rhyne I really want to see that player.
I'd put Oshauna Holland of Stuart Cramer up against anyone.

Junior
28.4 PPG
8.9 Reb/G
6.4 Ass/G
5.6 Steals/G
84% FT
44% 3PT

Porter Ridge Sophomore Ashanti Taylor has impressive numbers:
31.1 ppg
10.9 rpg
5.5 steals
15 double doubles this season.
But Kate Sears elevates her team. So does Braelyn Stilwell, but I think she's just below Sears. Making everyone else on the court better is something you can't measure, but it matters.

It’s hard to pick who the top player is the state. Rhyne is definitely a top player but you also have quite a few players like Sears, Holland, Caitlyn Jones, Jernigan and if you’re including private schools, there’s quite a few ACC recruits.

I absolutely agree with the above post. And LN has a couple of players that might be consider in that group. One thing that I really watch for is what does the player do when playing the "best" completion? Game in, game out Kelsey just elevates when she faces the toughest teams as does the transferred in Junior that comes off the bench for Lake Norman, Rayana Minard.

This young lady, due to circumstance out of her control, came to The Lake and has just fit in like a hand in a warm glove. OMG does give a lift every time she hits the floor. She not just fast but also quick as lighting and knows how to use the backboard. She may have the most steals of any one the team over the last 10 to 15 games.

Pettus at Bessemer City isnt a slouch either. She just completed a season in which she held the highest PPG/season until the last game. Finshed at 38 or 39 ppg.

Just wanted to say I'm proud for the Lady Jackets from Forest Hills. 26-3 and in the final 8. Amazing because they are a young team. 1 senior, 4 Juniors, 4 sophmores & 5 freshmen. Love to see them win a title like boys did just a few years ago. If not they might be tough the next couple of years.
