Watching high school basketball and all these coaches running ball screen offenses for kids that can’t shoot or drive is pretty awful. I’m not pointing out the mountaineers here. They’re on a pretty good run of late. It’s amazing how many teams ball screen and shoot only threes. That’ll work for steph curry but non of these kids are steph curry. Kids going 1-9 from three and still chucking it up. Then on defense everyone packed in like uva. It makes for a slow going boring game. If high school teams can’t combine for over 50 points in a half then why in the world would the casual fan want to watch.

I don’t know that I blame anybody for running pack line against a team that loves to shoot it but can’t.

You in favor of high school shot clock?

I am until the last 4 minutes. I don’t blame them but if you watch other than Virginia that one year pack line teams under preform in the tournament. I watched Virginia play FSU that year they won it all. That had to be the most boring game I’ve ever seen. But more importantly to run packline you’ve at least got to pressure the ball and front the post, but most of these teams don’t do either they just foul a lot.

The NBA didnt tell Steph to shoot 3's so other would follow. Like surfing, Skateboarding, Racing, Horseback riding - Kids will try what the pros are doing. Does it make sense to do it if you're 1/9 - absolutely not. The blame is not on the NBA whatsoever. The blame is on the high school coach for continuing to allow it.

Agree with this, but will add AAU/travel ball to an extent. Fundamentals have disappeared for most kids. While AAU/travel ball can and does help to an extent, kids no longer work on the basics. Just game after game after game. Losing doesn’t matter when the next game is in 2 hours regardless. Years ago more kids would spend summer trying to work on their game and improve, now they don’t have time for that. As soon as school ball is over it is on the road. Alot of kids get so burned out they don’t even care by the time their Jr. and Sr. Years roll around.

However, summer ball unfortunately is when a lot of kids get “seen” for the next level. Just a vicious cycle. As Mhsneer said watch any game now at any level. Just chuck it up from anywhere. The quality of the game is not where it was 10, 15, 20 years ago. A lot of times the athletes are better just not as good fundamentals.

Been seeing some higher scoring SMC scores and wondering if it is better teams or less defense. Hopefully it is good teams.

Anyway and either way....man I miss going in person and......

GO MOUNTAINEERS

Since we are talking about the nba ruining stuff, will the league allow
Mark Cuban to not play the national anthem at home games like he has announced.

The NBA, surprisingly, stepped in and said the national anthem will be played by all teams. It's hard to believe that a US citizen would be against the playing of the anthem, but we live in a world that is turned upside down right now. I agree, Mhsneer, it is a disgrace and a spit in the face to all who have and continue to serve this country.
