Nature Boy vs Dusty Rhodes

I remember taking my daughter to a county fair one time when she was young. They had this wrestling ring set up. Anyway they had wrestling going on all day. Looked like amateurs but it was the funniest thing. We watched that more than doing all the other stuff they had at the fair. One wrestler broke out a chair and starting hitting on the other wrestler. Lol it was entertaining.

Dang, I was at that show too. I remember there were fights all throughout the stadium. That was more entertaining than what was going on in the ring.
😂😂😂…the Nature Boy himself even took a pause during his match to watch the bedlam that was going on in the stands! People were fighting everywhere!

Old Charlotte!…I’ve had some great times in the Queen City!😉

In 1973 I was a freshman at the new 3 yr old West Craven high school. We had our first wrestling team at school that year. I was in the 95 lb weight class. I thought I was going to be a beast. I was hulk-a-mania before there was a hulk! I wrestled this dude from Camp Lejuene or West Carteret. Not sure about the school but all week I was told he was either a state champ or wrestled for one. He came out and was reading from a small new testament as I was warming up. Now I knew that bible wasn't going to help him from what I was fixing to open up and pour all over him. Then all of a sudden this strong looking young black dude pulls his gym shorts up and starts undoing some straps. Then he slides one of his legs back to the visitor bench at West Craven. In fixing to wrestle a dude with one leg?? Nah! Hell no! My Momma always taught me to respect people more unfortunate than me. You don't pick on handicapped kids. I told the coach I couldn't do it. My team mates were laughing at me. It felt as though the whole town was there and laughing at me. It seemed I was the only one in the building that didn't know what was coming. I was told to get down on my knees with him. Coach told me not to worry it wouldn't last long. I actually thought he meant I was going to win. This dude was on me so fast. God please make it end was my prayer! Then I heard the refs hand slap the mat maybe 20 seconds had transpired. It seemed much longer. Then I had to sit on the bench and take the ribbing from the guys. It has never ended. I still get ribbed about it. @FB is my Life were you on this team? Perry has never let me forget it. I wish I knew who this guy was. I'd love to meet him if he is still around.

No. I didn’t wrestle. Post tried to get me too. I want to know who popped Steamboat. I also so remember Mr Spencer going after somebody one time.

Funny story @FB is my Life about Mr. Spencer Dudley. He came to our first match. His grandson Timmy was on the team. Mr Spence was in his 70's or older and he had his farmer coveralls on. He came in and saw the mat on the floor and wanted to know where the ring was. We told him we didn't have a ring we wrestled on a matt. He said he could raise the money for a ring. 🤣🤣🤣 I always thought that was hilarious that he thought his grandson was wrestling in a ring.

He was drunk the night he got in the ring. I don't remember who the wrestler was he was after. Clayton Wright took him home to keep from locking him up.

I can’t remember who Mr Spencer was going after, but he had to be pulled from the ring. One of the wrestlers did their job and really pissed him off. LOL

I remember the first wrasslin’ match that I attended. 😜
Early 70’s…at West Lincoln high school gym! Yep…the Nature Boy was there! Hard to believe!…I guess he was just starting his career.
If memory serves me correctly…the main event was …Johnny Weaver and Paul Jones versus Ric Flair and Blackjack Mulligan.

I’ll never forget the first match on the under card! It was….Klondike Bill vs. Crusher Blackwell!😂😂😂

I could not believe how athletic they were…..even though….they were prolly 800 lbs combined….rolling around in that ring!

Good times!😜

The NWA used to come to the Shelby City park all the time, I scored some front row tickets... I was sitting there and out comes Big Cat Ernie Ladd, I throw my hand out and like a "Punk with a cigarette" when he went to give me five I pulled my hand back...

Big Ernie rared back like he was going to hit me... I was like 10-12 years old... Scared the crap out of me...

The next weekend the show aired, and Tony Schiavone says on TV that Big Cat about punched the chubby kid on the front row....... I never did forgive him for saying that ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....

Years and years later, I walk into to Rocks Country Store in Belwood and I see an older dude sitting on a stool near the register... The dude working behind the counter says "Do you remember him" "Nope Sure dont"

It was Jimmy Valiant.... Sitting in a country store in Belwood looking like he is 100 lbs asking 5 bucks for an autograph...... Still had the beard... The clerk asks if I want an autograph... I had five bucks on me... it was either Copenhagen or Boogie woogie mans autograph... I chose the dip.. with the words "Nah Im good"

And speaking of school "rasslin"

My son was on the middle school team at Burns a few years ago.... He was in mid-match, and all the sudden screams OOOOOWWWWWW MY NUTS.... loud enough it echoed off the rafters in that small gym...

Dude I knew about four rows below me turns around and says "That has to be your son"

YEAH...

Truer words have never been spoken!😜
When I was in middle school my dad and grandpa took me and my brother to Newton Conover high school (on the football field) to watch Paul Jones and Jimmy Valient take on Seargent Slaughter’s privates (yes I know how that sounds). The participants left the ring and rolled around on the field a while and the crowd left their seats and kind of naturally formed a lane for the wrestlers to walk by. As the privates walked by, my grandad punched one in the face and it didn’t even bother him and he kicked the other one in the rear. They both kept going and my dad was so embarrassed. As far as I know my grandad thought it was 100% real until the day he died.

Big Dave called me the other day. I told him he needed to come back out and play around with us some. He has retired now and is loving his beach music.

Speaking of golf rasslin’😂😂😂

We’ve done an annual beach golf event forever…..yep…the annual sh?t show.
Few years back….I was paired with Coach Brown. Coach didn’t like to lose…so I was a little anxious…if you know what I mean.

1st hole….I rolled a gagger in from 30 feet for birdie! In my exuberance…I did the Diamond Dallas Page one legged skip up to the hole and dropped a DDP…yelling…Dee’s nuts!…while straddling the hole to retrieve my ball!😂😂😂

Coach Brown fell out laughing! He loved that crap! We did the DDP all weekend after that….in restaurants, bars, parking lots, golf courses …you name it!
Good times!😉

Thought I’d say….good luck to all you fantasy ballers…made the playoffs and I got’em right where I want ‘em!…he had Tyreek….I had Herbert!

It ain’t over!…stupidest game ever invented!….like Pong!😜

this may be the thread of the year, me and my buddies use to go to a few pay per views in Raleigh, , Charlotte, Winston Salem and Greensboro. Used to absolutely love Wrasslin. My dad took me to a show in Wilmington NC one year when I was little. I cant remember who all fought besides Flair but I remember seeing Wahoo McDaniel try and hide behind a football goal post, everyone in the stadium seen him except Black Jack Mulligan whom he was fighting. lol
