MVAC/NW/WPAC JV Thread

This Thursday Night should have a pretty intense JV game in Wilkes County! East Wilkes Vs. Wilkes Central ... I hear both teams are undefeated! Anyone have any thoughts or predictions on this one?

EW 16 - 14. Looks like a final. Sounds like a great game. These schools will be battling for the next few years. I think East and Central are playing for the middle school championship on Saturday too.

East and Central report:

Hard fought game by two undefeated teams.

East turned the ball over on their own 25 in the first half and the D held strong. First quarter ended in a tie. Central's D was strong all night long. They did a great job clogging the middle and containing the speed of East. Any time they saw the sweep motion they ran to the sweep side with a purpose.

East led at halftime 8-0. In the 3rd East threw an interception inside their own 30. Central put a drive together to tie the game.

I believe East scored the winning touchdown with about 7 minutes left. East only had two real drives all game. The punter did a great job, especially for a kid who has not had to punt much this year.

Central had a great drive against the Cardinal D and scored a touchdown with about 55 seconds left. They missed the 2 point conversion.

Both teams played hard. I will add this. Both teams deserved better officials than what was on the field tonight. Both teams.

Like I said in the 2A thread South played really hard; hats off to them. They don't have the #'s but fought. Their defense isn't bad. We scored the most on them since they played East Wilkes in the opener.

They led on us early but it made the kids focused and we took over by the end of the first and dominated in the second quarter putting it away. Second half we just ran the clock off and stopped them on D besides one TD they got late in the third. They were getting crampy and de-hydrated by then. Offensively we didn't play as well in my opinion as we did against Central across the board but we ran it well and dominated. We got a field goal we haven't done that in ages on JV.

The rain all week really hampered the JV kids but they played the best they could with the circumstances.

Next week we play at Forbush; hope for a nice finale.

I think Mount Airy is 8 - 1 & E.Surry is 8 - 0 going into Thursdays JV but East his put up 63 more points and MA has had 44 points less scored on them . East is like 345 for and 91 against where MA is 282 for and 47 against Bears have had 5 shut outs and East has had 2 shut outs .Mount Airy's loss came by WS Prep where East Surry beat WP Prep .Should be a good game.

Jsc beat me to the punch ;)

We came out on a mission and played really well, probably the best all around game all season on JV. Offensively we played perfect and defensively we got after it and shut their run down. We scored early and never let back. Led 33-0 at halftime and scored one more time before putting the youngin's in. They scored in the late 3rd/4th on a pass and that was that.

Proud of the JV team overall. Little unsure of their potential early but once they got settled in and focused they turned out as I expected. They all matured and became a team after playing West Stokes so well. Last 3 weeks were flat out fun. Hope they all get dedicated and hit the weightroom hard in the off-season.

Score updates:

-Last report: Elkin 14, Ashe 7 5 min left in the 4th. This was 3 hrs ago so who knows if it's changed.

-Seen on Twitter that Bishop and Walkertown's JV game has been cancelled, something to do with state rules.

East Surry finished another 10-0 year and another conference championship. That now makes it Back to Back to Back conference champions. The future looks bright for East Surry Football.

East Wilkes capped off the season as conference champs with a hard fought victory last night. East had not trailed all year in a game until the Blackhawks took the opening drive down for a touchdown. West made the 2 point conversion for an 8 - 0 lead. East answered right back as wingback Jolly broke a long touchdown run to make the score 8 - 6. That was the score at the half.

In the second half East took the opening drive down to make it 12 - 8 on another Jolly touchdown. At the end of the 3rd East was ahead 20- 8 and in the fourth they added two more touchdowns.

West put up a good fight, I think they just wore out in the second half. East attempts to keep their lineman fresh by not playing them both ways and it really shows in the second half of games.

Great job Cards

Actually in Middle School its Alleghany vs West Wilkes for the Championship tomorrow. Middle School was a very balanced league this season with any team capable of beating the other on any given night.

East has a good run going and it will continue, even with the 6th-8th grades not up to par with the current 9-12 grade players. Then the 5th grade is very deep with talent.

How were Elkin, Ashe, and Forbush?

Good to see you back on here! :)

Where have you been !

Elkin was 3-7 I think, beating Surry Central, Starmount, and Ashe. With such low numbers Elkin to my knowledge has never had a good JV team record wise.

They lost by less than a TD to Wilkes Central and played pretty good in others. I only got to see bits and pieces of two or three games due to other commitments.

I rarely get on here anymore, basically Friday nites to follow the scores if I'm not at a game.

And btw, its pretty well known in these areas that East is the emerging power at least for the next 3-4 years at a minimum. Don't be surprised if they repeat 11-0 again next season.
