You know it's time for football season once you see this thread. Since the JV board is very dead I figured I'd post this here and keep a running track of the standings. Hopefully since the site re-design it will be a lot more easier this time around to do the standings.


8/20 JV Games:

East Surry at Surry Central
North Surry at Ashe County
East Wilkes at South Stokes
North Iredell at Wilkes Central
West Wilkes at Mitchell
Carver at Dudley
Rockingham at Walkertown


Alleghany, Elkin, Forbush, North Stokes, West Stokes, MA, Starmount, Atkins, Bishop, WS Prep off


I'll be on top of the mountain so it will be a bit for me to report.

End of 1st quarter 0-0 from Dobson with the Cardinals driving
 
12-0 Cardinals JV Wrecking Crew forces a fumble then a Connor Sheets TD pass
 
40 yard TD pass makes it 19-0 JV Cardinals at the half.
 
Quick turnover by the Cardinals punched in by the Eagles makes it 26-14
 
Close to a 60 yard TD run by Mitchell Edwards makes it 32-14 Cardinals
 
Eagles with a kickoff return for a TD makes it 32-20 Big Red
 
Connor Sheets with the QB sneak and the extra point makes it 39-20 East Surry with 7:41 to go in the game
 
39-20 is the final from Dobson. East Surry goes to Boonville to face the Starmount Rams next week. #27Strong
 
East Wilkes @ South Stokes postponed until Monday because of a 20-30 minute down pour right before kick off. Skies been clear every since. Rare to see a game postponed (even in JV) after the visiting team already made the trip without severe weather in the area. South's field looks the worse I have ever seen it this time of the year but apparently they spent a lot of money to make it look a little less like crap. You would think with the 12 foot high crown they have in the middle of the field the water from the down pour would have drained pretty quickly.

That sucks Hammer it really does for everyone. I hate it for East because they have that long haul and I hate it for South because of their field.

Good opener for us tonight, seems our JV's hasn't missed a lick since November 6th when we last played. We got some things to fix in regards to sillyness with the ball but we were tested in all regards tonight and came out well so I was impressed. A lot of new faces on both sides but they played like they need to in crunch time.

We got the ball first but we foolishy turned it over and they scored. Afterwards the boys got some sand in their grits and got going. We scored fast and we had momentum for a while. They played us at their best in 3rd quarter but at the start of the 4th we shut them down all over and that was it. IMO we played better than last year's opener in a lot of ways, and Ashe's JV's were better than they were last year. We got to hit it on Monday and get after it again for another week.

But nothing's better than a good JV night. Football in it's purest form.

If I was East I would be ticked. Don't think there was any thunder in the area. The rain passed by in about 30 minutes with nothing left on the radar after it. But in South's defense a lot of schools will not let the JV's mess the field up, but they will let the varsity.

East should have made them bring their JV's to Ronda today and started at 4 or made them forfeit.

North Surry 27, Elkin 0

Much better outing tonight for us overall. I was rather intrigued about this one because I heard little to nothing about Elkin's JV's and what I did hear was that they sounded rather impressive. So overall I literally had no idea about anything.

But then the game started. We got going early on both sides and we never lost the edge. They had a rough time on O,made it to our 40 once in the 3rd quarter but we shut em down. Offensively we got going and scored enough to focus on D. We put the youngin's in in the 4th and they performed well. Props to Elkin though they never quit one bit and they had a lot of tenacity. This was our first shut-out on Elkin since we started playing them on JV in 2009.

We needed a performance like this because the next two weeks will be needed tests for us. I'm excited for those games as well as the rest.

East Wilkes-SC, Atkins-NF, and Walkertown-WF were endowment games supposedly. Whoops.
 
Walkertown vs. West Forsyth was not an endowment game, Not 100% sure but think it was 48-0 WF. Heard WF had more fans at than Wlakertown had for the home game.

Hope they enjoy the paycheck tonight, because it won't be pretty tonight either.

WS Prep did not play Mt. Tabor, not sure why. It was not an endowment game.

Thanks, I couldn't get anything out of Max Preps so I figured it was. Wowzers. Walkertown's JV's have had 2 blowouts in a row vs Rockingham and WF.

MA and Elkin ended up a blow out like I figured.

bishop beat alleghany on a game winning touchdown pass on the last play of game, dont know what score was
 
East Wilkes got two victories this week to move to 3 - 0.

Monday night they shut out West Davidson 46 - 0 in Lexington and last night they spanked Forbush 52 - 6 in East Bend.

Offense is averaging 48 points per game and the D is giving up 6 a game. Forbush scored, however it should not have counted. The ball was knocked out of the receivers hand in the end zone. He never had possession, but the ref said he did and it is his opinion that counts.
 
South Stokes JVs beat Allegheny 27-0 Monday night and Bishop last night but did not get the score.
 
The numbers r low on varsity due to injuries etc...if u are any good at all you should be pulled up. alleghanys jvs beat grayson county, lost on a hail mary pass to bishop mcguiness so they should have started 2 and 0, and our star running back who rushed for 250yrds and 3 touchdowns vs bishops jvs was pulled up to varisity last week and therefore didnt play vs south stokes jv team. He rushed for a touchdown 2 2 pt conversions and 133yrds on varsity so id say they missed him on jv. Maybe south stokes jvs r for real?
 
alleghany has 7 sophmores on varsity including the starting quarterback and running back. and the majority of the 25player jv team r freshman. alleghany will be good next yr and the yr after, but we r paying for being young this yr
