@Lincolnton … You don’t recognize me by this (poster name), but I forgot my login from my old account. I decided I would travel up to the neighboring county and watch the ER vs. Chase game. After all the talk and projections, I just knew I’d see Lincolnton Fans (Coaches) or diehard folks like you lurking. WELL I WAS partially right saw several black hats with the “L” on it. But i looked and looked for you and never saw you. I wanted to stand around like ole times in Cherryville, watching that big left hander throw for Post 100. He brings the same intensity and demeanor to the football program as he did when he pitched against Post 82. I hope we get to come to Lincolnton next week instead of going to Surry County.

What I really like is the confidence shown by some of the Lincolnton posters in here. Already saying “Reidsville here we come.” I’m suspecting those folks didn’t see the game last night ?.. I so hope we get to come and play the “Black and Gold”… I’ll not make any predictions about next week till I see our opponent. But I’d be lying if I didn’t admit already looking for a good place to eat in Reidsville Round 2.

I read a lot, don’t post much, I use to enjoy the banter but the East program is just now taking hold. Some of the ole baseball mentality rubbed off onto that big lug (coach) . I’m just watching the culture grow, still makes me as proud as I ever was when he pitched or played for that little school in Lawndale (which is pretty good) too. I was once the infamous “honest bulldog”, but moved on matured and now just “Ole Pop”. I’ll be loud and proud wherever we travel next week, but Lincolnton is a lot closer, and you know I like to ruffle the ones that already look past that small town Rutherford County team.

I’ll be in my overalls, with a big dip in, screaming run the ball. Stop the run, Come on Coach, open up that offense. Rutherford folks are just getting use to me. They use to look at me sideways, then they figured out who I was and now just ignore me… Take Care my Friend and maybe just maybe we might see each other next week….

BigRedCav, it’s awfully good to hear from you, my friend, and thank you so much for contacting me. I have to confess something to you, I’d forgot that PR is the Cavs HC, and now I know why they’re doing so well. Had I remembered I would have been to see them play and to find you.

I watched them play on HSFN and frankly, they’re scary good. They do it all, run, throw, block and tackle. North Lincoln who thumped us badly was taken to the wire by ER, who had a good chance of beating them.

A friend just texted me that Lincolnton will more than likely have Maiden but if East Rutherford has North Surry, and if you have to travel, it’s an easy trip up I-77, and a nice place to take in a game, and people there seem very cordial, in spite of the poster amaidendevil AMD, telling them us Lincolnton people have bedbugs.

A big congratulations to you, my favorite left handed pitcher and since you opened my eyes, one of my favorite coaches. All the very best to the Cavaliers and I’ll be pulling for them except if they play the wolves. ;)

My friend, if there is a model of how a good father supports his son, it would be you. Hope God takes care of you and your family. Thanks again for reaching out.

Never known the Lincolnton folks to be arrogant. One of several reasons they’re my second favorite team.
Second favorite team!?!???
You have hurt me my friend. Over here on 2A forum making goo goo eyes at Mr Lincolnton…
Thought we had a good thing in 1A, with our high schools being fairly close to each other and all…
Guess you never really know huh???

Good one, Kidd! And here I thought I was safe philandering around over here on the 2A boards.

Mr. Lincolnton does have a special place in my heart, whether it’s due to the custom made hat during my long sleep a few years ago, or helping to make possible my daughter’s wedding at Wiseman’s View. Or the fact that, after subjecting the ‘Dogs to that infernal howling in 2011, he was graceful about the rematch the next year in Cushwa. But mostly, it’s our mutual distaste for a certain Lincoln County country club set. Oh wait, you and I have a similar relationship with the roundabouts!

Besides, if you’ve seen my posts on the 1A threads lately, why are you assuming that you know who’s in first?😂

So what I’m getting is you’re just a Dog huh? Side pieces in every forum? Well at least I know where I stand…
Heard that howling once during baby boy’s junior season. Coldest place on earth on top of that too.
@Lincolnton is a fine person, one of the kindest posters on these forums. I can see why you have formed a bond…
Guess we will have to agree to go our separate ways then…
It’s ok it’s me not you…😂😂😂

But we’ll always have the roundabouts.

Bless you friends and thank you. I’m humbled by the words of two of our greatest posters. Please remember it takes men like you to tolerate guys like me.

OC, I am grateful for the opportunity to be of assistance to you, anytime. And that would go for my friend over in Randolph County, too. As always, I’ll be pulling for you in the playoffs.:)

And. Now I want a Cushwa Dog.

AlwaysAWolf, you and most high school football enthusiast know this, but Cushwa Stadium in Thomasville is named for one of their coaches George Cushwa. This brief link is a mere glimpse into who and what he actually was. One of his players was none other than our friend, OC Davis, and he wasn't the one that originally told me this. OC's brother played on one of his championship teams in 1964. Strange how one person can achieve so much, and touch so many lives in a positive way. Please see link. 👇

Thank you for that. Coach Cushwa was an exceptional man and coach. Tough as nails, but compassionate to a fault. He led Thomasville athletics through integration in the sixties with very few issues. He treated every player as if they were his own kids with tough love and principled leadership. The name on that stadium is a testament to his contributions to Thomasville.
He passed away way too early at age 60.

I was one of several privileged to play for Coach Cushwa as a head coach and Allen Brown as a position coach. There were a short few years of overlap before Coach Brown took over. What an honor to play for two Hall of Fame coaches and two stellar men.
