Central Davidson at Oak Grove
Ledford at North Davidson
Montgomery Central at Asheboro

For the first time this year all the games are actually interesting. OG will be trying to win the conference outright. Central will be attempting to force a tie. Ledford will be looking to get at least a chance at tying for first depending on what happens. North will be giving their best shot at making the playoffs. And of course Aboro and MC will be playing to stay out of the cellar.

OG should beat Central but Central gives themselves a punchers chance with that offense. Given the playing style of both teams running the ball this game could go quickly.

Ledford looks like the better team this year but in a rivalry game who knows? North had their lousiest game of the year execution-wise against Central. It's Senior Knight and I'm sure the kids will be more focused.

MC has hope for the future as their JV has looked good with only two losses, one to unbeaten OG JV. Aboro on the other hand... yikes...

Central has a great shot. Any team that can hold ND’s running back to less than 50 yards rushing is going to be tough to score on.

I thought there might be a three way tie for first this year but Central surprised me and has made it a legit four team league.

Playing them is like playing Virginia in basketball. If they get a two possession lead on you then it's really tough to come back

And conversely, if they get behind, they don't know how to go fast. They were down 2 scores with 3 minutes or so left against Ledford, and were still huddling and running plays in from the sidelines.

I do think they have a real chance against OG. They're D obviously played real well against North, and their offense just grinds you down. I hope OG wins, not just because I'm an OG fan, but because I don't want any more coaches to be encouraged to run that offense. Watching paint dry and grass grow and all that.

You don't have to worry about that. The Doublewing is a cult offense that most coaches hate and some love. There is no in between. It's the perfect system for Central and their kind of athletes. West should take some pointers but they won't.

Personally I love it. But I love rugby and that's the closest you get to it. I love five wides and option and everything in between. In the end it's about doing what makes your kids successful and I'm all for that.

Their is no arguing that it works for them and that huge line that they always seem to have, and I know it's been around for a million years. I just like to see teams spread out and sling it around.

OG
Ledford
MC

OG Vs Central- became more interesting with the fact that Central shut down North's running game. If their offense had more of a pass threat i'd say that they could make some noise- Breedlove is a game changer. Should know by the first quarter how this game will go- with the double wing either you stop it or its a long night. Not much in between. I think the battle with the 4A squads early will pay off now for OG.

Ledford's offense will be the difference- they are the most balanced offense in the conference. #2 is a player and hes got a few weapons around him. I'm not expecting it to be too close- but with rivalry games anything can happen.

MC- seems to be trending in the right direction.

Not sure which one to go to... may end up switching at halftime depending on what's happening lol

It helps if your upback is allowed to get a half step head start blocking. Been getting away with it for years, and it’s rarely called. Combine that with the pushing/pulling the ball carrier, and it’s hard to stop.

JV scores

OG 42 CD 6
ND 20 Ledford 8
MC 41 Aboro 0

OG finishes 10-0 dominating everyone other than West Forsyth.

MC looking good potentially for the future.
