Metzger Out At Montgomery Central

Just saw that coach has retired from coaching. What route does MC go from here?
Life after West & East Montgomery has not produced like maybe they thought. However they did get to the 6 win mark this past year. The best in the young schools time. Gotta believe in time they will be a consistent winner. Not sure if they get to the West Montgomery level of consistency but they very well may.

Had absolutely nothing to do with working with other sports and everything to do with working with the new principal at MC. I’ve coached and been around high school ball in NC and FL for over 20 years and this guy is hands the most clueless principal I’ve ever heard of. What Metzger had to deal with this year (best season since the school opened) was absolutely ridiculous. Let me go through a few examples for you:

-Metzger was sent home from school on a 2 day suspension on a game week and not allowed to communicate with coaches or players during that time for telling a player during a team meeting he needed to be more coachable. And no, there was nothing more to that story, no foul language, no screaming or yelling (I have first hand knowledge of this)

-Principal said a few parents expressed concerns about player injuries and that they believe it’s because they don’t warmup properly. Asked Coach Metzger to reassess warmups due to parent concerns (not a single player missed a game due to muscle strains or pulls)

-Principal Questioned Coach as to why he was having a 6:30am coaching staff meeting when the work day doesn’t start until 7:30. Said that Metzger could not require coaches to come in before school

-Principal Called Coach immediately after a road game win to discuss playing time of a backup because the parent called the principal during the game to complain.

These are just a few that stand out. I would caution anyone who looks into this job to stay FAR FAR AWAY as long as this Principal is there.

Yes I do. And nothing you’re saying is even remotely accurate as it pertains to Montgomery Central. Sorry you’re bitter about Purnsley leaving for Southern Lee nearly a decade ago. Most folks seem to be pretty happy with the job Hewitt has done since taking over as AD at Pinecrest

Purnsley is a good guy and is doing well.. So is Coach Hewitt. Makes you wonder about he gets along with certain principals as well as principles ...

All I know is Metzger is demanding of his coaches and players. He built Pinecrest from the depths of football purgatory. If it didn't go as planned at MC, it's probably a bunch of different reasons why. If administration doesn't have your back nothing will improve for that program. Metzger will be fine. We'll see about MC.

Google Coach Metzger. That's all. He photocopied a doctor's signature. We lived the forfeitured games. He obviously did something egregious or he stepped aside for health reasons and family time. I pray for the latter but history reminds us Patriots of who he really is.

WOW! These examples are awful. What an out of touch clueless Principal. Sounds like he and the Principal at North Davidson would be a great marriage. They could co-author a book and title it, clueless leadership, what not to do or be as an educational administrator.
