Does anyone else have questions about their rankings besides me ? For instance, we beat a team twice, had pretty much same schedule and record and beat more higher ranked teams but they were ranked above our team. Also you have PLP, Lincoln Charter etc with great records every year with only 3 to 5 losses ranked very high but go out with big losses in the first round because they come from very weak conference and play a very weak non conference schedule ?? These teams get rewarded with high seeds and home court advantages only to get put out In first rounds. I just have my doubts about the NCHSAA using Maxpreps rankings for seeding purposes. Am I the only one

Click here on the NCHSAA and then click on any of the schools in the playoffs and see where it takes you. I know they use them for the scores so could also use them for the rankings.

Or here and click on one of the schools scheduled to play Satorday the 25th.
http://www.nchsaa.org/ ...<<< The scores will be posted here from Maxprep as they come in after the games Saturday night or Sunday as the next game will be Tuesday the 28th Final 4 in the West & East. Coaches are supposed to post team sports scores on MaxPrep ASAP after all games and it goes to The NCHSAA. Someone correct me if I am wrong or varify it.

You can't go by Maxpreps rankings in my opinion. The rankings are just created based on other teams records. There is no one actually out there watching all these teams.

I am not really concerned with them. They are used to break potential ties in the standings. The first seeding priority is conference championship, followed by overall record. I feel the rankings are skewed but really no concern as they have so little to do with the brackets. Remember, maxpreps has nothing to do with the seeding of weak teams. Their seeds are determine by their records and they received high seeds long before maxpreps was introduced.

Maxpreps plays a part, but I just don't know how much. Maybe Sportsnut17 or Deana has the answer.

When Murphy has a 25 - 2 record and they won the conference tournament and a very good strength of schedule then has to travel in the second round something isn't right.

I am not sure what you are talking about. Are you talking men or women? Lincoln Charter women's team were seeded middle of the pack. Lincoln Charter's men were properly seeded for this year. They played a difficult nonconference schedule by playing in the Phenom Hoops Joe Miller Invitational which is were they lost their games and last year they came within a buzz beater of representing the west in the championship game.

But it is not due to maxpreps. It is due to the state requirement that all first place regular season champions are seeded first. Then they seed tournament champs like Murphy. Maxpreps factors very little in the seeding.
