I can't help but think that this was a foregone conclusion when the coach left Clinton with all of those players in tow after last season. I hope that a stronger message is sent to those that thought this was legal and would work.

He has said his son is on the staff. Give him a break man, It’s got to be tough seeing your kid get rolled into this mess.
I guess my response to that would be yeah it’s got to be tough on the family but they knew what they were doing and I’m sure it’s greatly affected the players on said teams. The seniors won’t ever get this time back, there’s no redos.

People are saying they let it go in nc….let what go? I remember new bern having to forfeit a season a couple years ago….we’re these players ineligible because of grades, attendance or resistance?

I understand that, but also the parents of those kids who sent them down there are not absolved of responsibility in this either. If they had stayed at Clinton, likely where many had spent all their lives, this wouldn’t be an issue. They wouldn’t be 1-9 or whatever they are now, might still have not made the playoffs but their senior year wouldn’t have been remembered for just NOT making the playoffs but being banned from the playoffs.

It’s a different story 20 years from now sitting around with former friends and players on that team going man I hate we missed the playoffs our senior year after getting so close to a title the year before VS man I hate what happened my senior year when we moved down to SC and got banned from the playoffs cause of some stupid mess.

That’s what I was saying before. IF Clinton last year was truly guilty of anything no way nchsaa doesn’t find it and punish them for it.

Being truly guilty of something and being able to get someone to start looking is 2 different things completely. The New Bern thing for instance would still be going on if not for a teacher seeing certain students on an honor roll list that they knew had an average in the low 40’s . They have a chat group of current and retired teachers and it first started getting mentioned there. It’s how I got wind of it. I posted about it here and got threatened for it. But I had names and figures to back it all up if I needed it. A lawyer too.

Coach and his entire all star staff need to be let go for the fraud they’ve committed.
I agree with you 100%. There is a place and time for everything. You take players from other programs and think that you are the reason for the success but the reality of this is simple. " Can you coach them up?" Majority can't! These young guys want quick success but then when it is all and said they run away from responsibility for what? These coaches need to be held accountable for their actions. Just think, you got to the title game and didn't even win it.

Maybe some of that Prestige and Smithfield foods money turned NCHSAA heads another direction. Just speculation on my part. But we all know how greedy they are.
I don't know the Chinese owners of Smithfield and what their possible motivations might be for trying to influence the NCHSAA with money, but I do know some of the Prestage family (not "Prestige", as many folks with limited knowledge of both the company and family often say and spell it). And while supporting public education which would include extracurriculars such as sports is something they do on the regular, paying off NCHSAA officials or whatever you're implying is not only incorrect, but mostly just a lazy cheapshot at people who have been both succesful and generous.

But those same Seniors can still go to the college that picked them up correct?

Now now I got some stories on this pertaining to a wrestling team or two in Winston Salem
Maybe about 6-7 teams, coach moves to another school and gets them a trophy. One kid I met got a scholarship to Duke. Probably would have got it anyway. One would not play the game and caught the devil for it. He would not move. He still got a scholarship. I always wondered why nothing was said.

This won't happen. But, it will be interesting to see how many coaches stay and what they do after these kids graduate/leave again. Not surprising they were deemed ineligible either. They knew what they did. The kids at New Bern should have been ineligible as well. Just follow the rules.

Taking someone from the low 40s to the honor roll, you get what you deserve. Skipped 3 whole letter grades. That’s crazy.

I know Smithfield is owned by the Chinese I worked for them when the chinese bought it. As far as Prestage goes I know very little about them . I just used those 2 as an example.l as they are 2 of the bigger businesses in the area. Like i said it was just speculation on my part. Was not meant to be a cheapshot but the optics of what went on in Clinton last year was Shady to say the least.

Blessing in disguise I guess you can say as I’ve heard/seen nothing but positive things from the new coaches/admin. Glad to see some of those kids from that team doing well at Florida State, Alabama, ECU, Louisburg etc.
