Mallard Creek football schedule

Dont think Coach Brand and Coach Littlejohn get enough credit for that time period at MC. Brand was super aggressive offensively and had that MC offense rolling. Without him they defaulted to the mauler type power run game. While effective, teams can catch on to it, and with no threat of a passing attack it makes them easier to defend when playing great teams or the 2nd matchup between teams. IE Hough, Chambers.

Also MC is in the most naturally talented areas in the state. They get players yearly. Not sure their talent pool gets discussed much, but its incredible.
Always thought the 2010- 17 group really took the weight room development to a new level in Charlotte. They looked very much like grown men when they walked on the field. LJ played a huge role in that as did others.
Biggest issue remains QB. They really haven't developed one in a decade. Chauncey, Kelly , Dirt all one year transfers. It's the biggest head scratcher with all the talent.

Agree 100% on that. MC did well with homegrown QBS. Once they became a one year QB transfer destination they fell off. Many times they had a JV guy moving up or a backup on varsity that had been in the program.

Also the pod system really hurt MC IMHO. After the 15 ship MC was eliminated in the playoffs by a regular season opponent or ship rematch every time. Its hard beating a really good team especially a conference rival 2x n one year. Had these been regional finals it gives them time to fully prepare, and the revenge factor goes down some or they could lose. The Pod system was really unfair to MC

16. Butler rematch 2nd round
17. Wake Forest SHip rematch from prior years
18. Hough after dominating Hough regular season 2nd round after playing two weeks prior
19. Chambers 2nd round
21 Lost to Hough 2x
22. Hough 2nd round rematch

Looking back at 2018. We should've stuck with Jayden Washington who got us to the State Champion game the previous year. Casey Kelly was a TE, attempting to play QB. Which he has been throughout his collegiate career.

Hindsight, When he came in from NY it was QB all the way. Kelly was not playing TE at MC.

Always thought the bye in the first round really hurt in several of those metch ups.

I didn’t anticipate that conference being that good. In 2010 Mallard Creek was clearly the best team while everyone else was average. Hough was trying to get things rolling and Chambers was an average football program at the time. Five or six years later that conference was loaded with really good teams with really good talent which is difficult to beat twice. Traditionally that portion of Charlotte/Mecklenburg wasn’t good in football but great in basketball.

Yo, so, how many Championship shiny trophies has been gotten by this conference since 2010?

PAC doesn't normally play anyone like this. They apparently had trouble finding teams this year. Mallard Creek's speed could be a problem. Swainsboro gave them some trouble last year with Demello Jones. They do have an offensive line though for a little school. Grayson is a different animal.
PAC may be getting bored after the way they dominated 1-A the past few years. There was one year where they won the first playoff game by forfeit because the other team was afraid for their players’ safety on the field! Scheduling harder nonregion games gives them something else to work for. The alternative would have been petitioning to move to a higher classification, but that would impact all sports and they may not be as dominant in other sports.

Several for sure but I think maybe you missed my point, i wasn’t knocking the conference.

This conference was traditionally not a great conference for football. Around 2010 most people saw Mallard Creek as the clear favorite and the only team that would probably stop them from winning another title would be Butler or Richmond beating them in the playoffs as they roll through their conference for years to come. I didn’t see Hough and Chambers becoming the dominant teams they became the second half of the decade and being the reason why MC didn’t have a couple more titles. Having to beat them twice is difficult.

Looking back on it might be the greatest conference run NC high school football has ever seen. The SW4A from 00-09 might be a second place but I don’t think it was as deep.

Unstoppable Conference. They need to embrace every little accomplishment and be proud of how far they have come. Not only that but they need to continue shining, striving, winning!

Here is the schedule for Mallard Creek. I just seen 9 games. So if anyone knows who the 10th one is I will edit in.
I find couple interesting non conference games. Anyone know what kind of season Mallard Creek could have.

8/24 vs Prince Avenue Christian Sat game. TBD… A team from Athens, GA who went 14-1 last year
8/30 vs Cardinal Gibbons
9/6 vs Grayson high- From Loganville, GA
9/20 at West Charlotte
9/27 vs Hopewell
10/6 North Meck
10/10 vs Harding
10/18 at Hough
10/25 vs West Meck
11/1 vs Chambers
Lord!!!!

Toughest conference in the state of NC. I’m a Vance/Chambers man for life but I’d love to see West Charlotte win 3A and Hough or Creek win 4 if my Cougars don’t. Will be saying the same about basketball soon. North Meck just won their 2nd state championship in 4 years and Chambers will have one of the best junior classes on the east coast. Best conference hands down.

Also WC won a ship and lost a ship in 4A within past 5 years. Conference is an absolute beast

I don’t have a clue on who they are returning. Mallard Creek will always be really good defensively the offense is usually the concern. I see them like Butler, 2-4 losses in the regular season but making a deep playoff run.
Butler should perform well or at least a lot better than last year.

Better than last year means a title in my opinion. They beat a top 25 team in the nation (at the time) Hughes, Weddington (eventual champs) and Independence during the regular season. They won conference and was a game away from the west finals. They definitely have a tough schedule and I am curious how they will look with the coaching change.
