Maiden's QB Ethan Rhodes commits to NC State

Last I heard he was a PWO. That's where he really wanted to go and he turned down full rides to smaller schools for it.
Yes he would have to be a PWO if he's a senior. States recruiting class was full before the Feb signing date. I hope he is able to earn a Scholly. I get aggravated at the lack of news you get on PWO and other walk ons.
They just had there 4 star freshman QB hit the portal today.
This qb any good? Small school offers and two D1 receivers to throw too.... Hopefully he is going for the education, he'll never touch the field. Some kids just like to be around a bigtime program
He's good. His big question mark is if he is going to have an off game. Sometimes you don't know which version of him you're getting.
He has great mechanics, decent footwork, when he's on he'll kill ya, can run of need be. Decent size. Watching him the past few years I can say that he's grown immensely...still a tad raw with his decision making but has proven that he can be taught and can retain that knowledge.
Good work ethic, good leader. Tough as nails.

Him being a walk-on makes his efforts even more special. I've watched him play and he's obviously pretty smart and shows leadership qualities. He has some size and with hard work his strength and speed will increase. If he keeps that tough Maiden attitude and doesn't get sidetracked they'll find a place for him, probably in a position that most people didn't expect.
I was really impressed with him .... now the only game I saw him play was against Salisbury but he looked the part. I watched him pretty close that game and came away wandering why he wasn’t more recruited. I didn’t see a lot of downside and a ton of upside to build on. Congratulations to him

Great question…is he any good? You gave me something to do while I wait for the sun to come up. I looked at the stats for QB’s that threw for more than 2500 yards in ‘21. There were 18 of them. Rhodes was one of them. There’s some notable names on that list…I’d say all of them are pretty good.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that of the 18 on that list….,Rhodes’ QBR was 2nd highest at 139.3. He was narrowly edged out by Bisson from Mountain Island Charter with a QBR of 139.5.
Rhodes is pretty good…comparatively.

Anybody that dominated the Salisbury defense that was giving up 4 or 5 points a game to that point is good. Defending state champs that returned basically their whole D got made to look bad. That's a good endorsement if I ever heard one.
Rhodes got a good look at ‘em in the spring game…..a real good look….up close and personal look!😂

I’m only asking this because I know the Wolfpack is loaded with talent at that position and if that’s the case then it speaks volumes for this kids heart. I know he turned down some offers from smaller schools such as Valparaiso to try and earn his way in Raleigh.
Kid has heart, there’s no denying that. He’s obviously not scared of the competition. QBU, the Pack is always sending qbs to the league. Glennon, Brisset, Finley, Wilson, just a few.

Any thoughts on Maiden’s football for the up coming season. I feel like they will be really good again.
Returning nearly all our starters. We'll be stronger and faster. Culliver has colleges fighting over him. Hall has a few offers and visits in D1. Gibbs has Harvard beating his door down. Underclassmen moving up have good size. New QB throws the ball on a frozen rope up to 40 yds...needs to work on his deep accuracy a bit but he has the arm strength.
I'm optimistic at a western final appearance at least. We'll see how the season goes once helmets are strapped...

The guy was trash. Not sure how he even did anything in the league. Choked every time in the playoffs. So weird how his throwing motion ever worked. Looked like a handicap throwing or pushing the ball.

Unc football and Mack Brown is more overhyped than any football program in the country. The media wants them so bad to be a national power but they can’t even finish in the top 25 with all the talent they get. They are no different than my Northeastern Eagles. They play in the weak division of the ACC and pretty much have a cake walk to the ACC cship each year but they usually screw that up. The basketball program is top notch but the football program is mediocre at best. How bout that choke job old Mack did In Raleigh this year. That was maybe the biggest in all of college football this year

State is a nothing school, maybe women golf, nothing worth speaking on. The epic failure in Raleigh was on the coaching period. Hence why so many changes happen this off season. We shall see bro. State will always be the step child in this state period....
We were good last year and we're returning all but 3 starters. No reason to believe otherwise. And while I would agree with the first round clowns in recent memory, we're over that hump now. Coach Byrne has really built an amazing culture here we haven't seen since Tom was here.
We could see some classic matchups in the playoffs possibly. Maiden n Reidsville or Maiden n East Surry again. I definitely will be at one of Maiden’s game. Or possibly a few games.
I’m optimistic about this Maiden bunch as well….we gotta get through the CVAC first… that won’t be easy either.
The 2a bracket is tough sledding…well …not for Shelby or Reidsville!😜
