McDowell @ A.C. Reynolds- Reynolds continues to roll through the back half of the conference schedule. A sluggish first half at Enka was quickly corrected and it was on after that. Look for the Rockets to come out firing quickly on homecoming night. Rico & Co. roll, 49-10.

T.C. Roberson @ Asheville- Asheville is continuing to do what Asheville does, dominate, after dropping the game at ACR. This week is no different. A disheartened TCR team strolls in after giving away the lead in the fourth to Erwin on TV. The Cougars stay hot, give me Asheville, 41-17

North Buncombe @ Erwin- The beginning of the gauntlet for NB having to close the season with Erwin/Asheville/Reynolds. Not really sure about the Warriors though. They look uninterested early and then turn it on when the need arises. Can they continue this pattern against Blake Matthews and Chase Parker, who can put up points with the deep ball? I think so. Erwin wins closer than it should be, 42-31.

Reynolds-63 McDowell-7... Reynolds continues to roll in this easy stretch of their schedule.

Asheville-41 Roberson-14... I really like how our defense has responded after getting embarrassed by Rico Dowdle & co. a few weeks ago. I know we've played Enka and McDowell but our starting defense didn't give up any points to either team. We seem to be hitting harder and playing with more of an edge on that side of the ball. Offensively I hope we continue to use a variety of guys in the running game to keep everyone fresh. 2 and 10 still need more touches but at least we have gone their way a little more the last couple weeks. I think Roberson comes out a little sluggish after a heart breaking loss last week.

Erwin-35 NB-28... I really think NB can win this game but I just can't pick them. I think Erwin is the more talented team but if they play like they have for the past few weeks then they may be in trouble.

Reynolds wins big. They won't lose another game until they meet us in the playoffs. ;)

Asheville wins big. Because TC got exposed last week.

Erwin wins big. Blackhawks will be in the game until the 3rd quarter but can't hang with Erwin for an entire game. Chase Austin has a field day with the NB secondary.

Bama if Reynolds only wins 42-14 ill be shocked. I don't think McDowell had 30 yards of offense against us through 3 quarters. I was really surprised how easily we built a 55-0 lead through 2 and a half quarters on mcdowells homecoming. If y'all play anywhere decent it will be 42-0 at half time.

Before the season started I predicted:
1) ACR will run the spread without needing to throw. TRUE
2) Erwin has the best throwing QB. TRUE
3) NB WR #4 is the best WR. TRUE

Erwin wins, but NB WR #4 will burn those little Erwin DB's. Erwin #7 has the size and will be needed to match NB #4. NB has nothing else to offer offensively.

Erwin should get RB #6 involved RUNNING, he is young but has talent. NB WR's now play defense. Do not throw to #4's side of the field. I would flip Erwin #7 to the other side and dominate the smaller CB. You hear me Bucky?

Asheville wins. They threw 4 times last week, maybe they'll throw it 5 times.
ACR wins.

Lol, I'm sure coach Tarr listens to your advice Billy. Asheville would gladly take #6 from Erwin. He would look good running downhill in our offense alongside Battle, Smith, and Green.

Asheville has thrown the ball less than 14 times in the last 2 games combined! I would be willing to bet you Brewer is averaging close to 30 yards per touch offensively. Having him change positions on defense is really going to help out in the event we play Reynolds or weddington again.

As for number 6 for Erwin, I agree with you completely. They have done a terrible job of getting him touches. You look at the box scores after the games and it will say he had like 4 carries, 2 catches? I have heard rumblings of him possibly wanting to transfer from a pretty reliable source too or at least being unhappy with his lack of touches. Obviously Asheville High would love to have him. He wouldn't have any trouble getting the ball with us and what is the upside to staying at Erwin? So he can stick around and watch Damien Ferguson throw the ball 65 times a game his senior year and work on his pass protection? The kid could be a monster if he is given more carries. He needs to come to Asheville High and be our next great tailback. We may waste our wide receivers, but we damn sure don't waste our runningbacks. That's my sales pitch and I'm sticking to it.

As for this week. Lets start with Erwin and North Buncombe. If I would have told you August 1st that the game of the week in Week 10 of the MAC would be North Buncombe at Erwin, people would have called me crazy. Erwin is the better team, but this could go either way if Erwin doesn't play well. Is it true that the NB "preseason all state WR" has 0 touchdowns?? How can you be all state and not be a top 5 WR in your conference? Anyway... Erwin lost to Mount Paran, Ooltewah, Science Hill and Reynolds...BUT they were a 4th and 12 at midfield away from losing to Franklin with a minute left and won that. They were in an unfathomable scoreless tie with Enka in the 3rd quarter and won that. They were down I believe by double digits in the 4th quarter to McDowell and won that. They were down 28-7 to TC Roberson last week and pulled that one out too. Now either they are playing incredibly sloppy or they are one of the coolest teams under pressure around. It could be a little of both, but it has to be very concerning to know they are a play or two away from being 2-7 this season. This is one of those games where they could win 42-7 and it wouldn't surprise me, but I also could see them losing this. Erwin needs to worry about Blake Matthews primarily and NB needs to worry about Chase Austin. Erwin 34-27.

TC Roberson brings their "Family" jerseys to Asheville high this week. The last time we played Roberson at home 2 years ago we won by 7 and were nothing short of terrible. Luckily this Roberson team isn't as good as that team. We need to continue to work on the passing game, which im sure we wont and wrap up on defense. Like AHSDYNASY said, our last 2 games were against McDowell and Enka, but the score could have literally been 80-0 in both games. I was really surprised with the McDowell game. I thought with their QB breaking every single one of their school records, they would at least give us a little trouble, but I don't think they had 30 yards of offense through 3 quarters. I pray to God we don't throw the ball 5-6 times like we did the past 2 weeks. We cant just throw it a hand full of times in these easier games and then in 5 weeks just think we are going to open it up and throw it 25 times against a good playoff team. But im not a coach so what the hell do I know? Also, that TC linebacker needs to come to Asheville high for his senior year. Nobody wants to finish their career with 400 tackles and 17 wins in 4 years. Asheville 24-7 if Roberson comes to play, Asheville 49-7 if Asheville comes to play.

McDowell at Reynolds: Not really much to say about this one. I was shocked at how easily Asheville dominated the Titans last week. I mean, there was never even a point where McDowell had anything going. Doing score comparisons, this one should be another blowout. Keep Rico upright and its over maybe after the first quarter. Reynolds 45-7

*Obviously my Cougars haven't played everyone in the MAC yet and I fully expect Erwin to give us a game in the final week of the regular season, but as I see it right now, its seems like Asheville and Reynolds are by far the best 2 teams in WNC. If you were making a top 10 list it would be Reynolds 1, Asheville 2 and then there is a big gap from 2-3. Then again there was a big gap between 1 and 2 on October 2.

I won't comment on any other team then Erwin because I just have been able to make it to as many games as I used to.

I have no,idea what to expect from Erwin each week. There is some talent on the field but they aren't consistent. They have more ups and downs than a roller coaster. I think Erwin is better than NB, but they are going to need a full 4 quarter game.

Side note I would love to see Erwin turn some of our o line around and let them play defense when we play Asheville. We have some decent sized kids on the line and if we want to stop the 3 yards and a cloud of dust cougars we need to get some bigger bodies on the defensive line. If not they'll just run it down our throat for 4 quarters.

Oh well I'm headed to the land of sister kissing known as Tuscaloosa this weekend. Best of luck to all teams

That is a funny pic 02. I bet the woman in that pic is actually from Leicester or Sandy Mush.

Safe travels to Title Town 02.

Bama rolls this weekend. UT not ready for the big time just yet.

I think UT will keep it competitive, but honestly I'd be surprised if we win. Tennesse is in much better shape with the jimmy's and joe's than they have been in a while. 2 weeks to prepare and we're getting Bama before they play Lsu. If Tennessee doesn't keep it close this week when will they?

UT does have more good players than in the past but still not enough.

Have a good time. If you get a chance you need to eat at Dreamland. Best ribs I have ever eaten.

I just saw the WNC receiving leaders came out and the top 3 wide receivers in terms of catches all play for Erwin.

I also was shocked at the fact that Isaiah Drummond from Asheville who I believe is the best wide receiver in WNC has so few catches that he didnt even meet the MINUMUM number of catches to be included on the list! The list only includes guys with more than 12 catches and I think he has 10-11. Also makauis brewer is probably just as good or closely second to his teammate Isaiah Drummond in terms of being the best WR WNC has to offer and he has fewer than 10 catches.
It is absuloteyly stunning to me how we can waste and I mean really WASTE such talented players. To have 2 6 foot 2 180 pound wide receivers with good hands who are averaging 20-30 yards per touch such little attention is mind boggling to me. There isn't a wide receiver in WNC I would trade for either of those guys and we use them primarily to run the plays in and out of the huddle.
After the pisgah game we looked terrible in, I said "watching Asheville high this year is like watching a Ferrari go around a race track going 35 mph" and that's still the case. 12 pass attempts the last two games combined? I don't get it.

Hopefully Rico chooses to run with the pack :). I think he will add a few more offers before signing day.

Top of the 4th AHS 21 - TCR 21. TCR is a lot better than I thought they were and we suck worse than I thought. Not looking good for the playoffs.

Yeah, go ahead and lay it on us, but the cougars were just awful tonight, other than the reynolds game that had to be worst game we played all year, we had difficult time pounding the ball against their big DL, and I think we turned it over on downs twice inside the red zone.

Guess them rich boys are learning how to play
let not kid ourselves, you guys are 2-7 and are not very good. If we played you guys 10 times, we would win 10 times. That's about as pathetic of a display over at Asheville High as I have seen in oh....4 weeks. I will give TC some credit, their size is very impressive.
I agree with Fadeca, we were just awful tonight. How can a team with that much potential be that apathetic? Im telling you, without Christian Green, this team would be a 13-14 seed. I have still yet to see this team play with any sort of urgency. We have a couple guys on our secondary that you can see are absolutely petrified of making a tackle and want no part of any contact at all. Still waiting on this team to play well because I haven't seen any improvement from week 1.

ACR 63 McDowell 6

Rico Dowdle rushed 6 times for 105 yards 4 TD. He was 8-10 passing for 140 yards 1 TD.

I feel sorry for McDowell. They just couldn't get anything going at all. They had 56 total yards in the first half.

Twist it all u want. U guys have sat on here all year and dogged a team and made fun of teams that struggled with them then when you play them and struggle oh it's how u just played bad. If that's the case good luck in the playoffs because there won't be very many 2 win teams. I guess it is your coaches fault as well. Lmao. Face it TC is better than any of you thought and just maybe Asheville isn't as good as you all thought.

Roberson is a little better than I thought, but we sucked tonight, especially offensive execution. Game was almost identical to the tc game from 2 years ago. Our o-line drives me crazy. They wallow around after plays with no sense of urgency. The Effort was pathetic until the 4th quarter. We made a couple of changes that has shored up our front 7 defensively, but the secondary is soft and not very reliable. If no improvement is made over the next few weeks I don't even know if this team will get out of the second round.

No they weren't. They are 2-7 now so no they aren't learning to play and they aren't better than anybody thought. We were terrible tonight and it was our fault. Roberson will finish the regular season 3-8 and will only make the playoffs because they only have to beat 1 other 4A team in our conference to get in. I will make one other bet since I was wrong on the first one. Roberson finishes the 2015 season 3-9. Agree?

Lmao yes they will finish 3-8. And the mighty cougars barely beat a 2-7 team. Be proud. Don't give TC any credit.

You know what the worst part is Dynasy? Not only has the offensive line been a complete letdown, but the guy who should be leading that offensive line looks like he's asleep when the defense is on the field instead of firing everybody up. That offensive line is PATHETIC so far and I agree with you on the secondary. I was under the assumption that this team would be like 90 percent of the other Asheville teams the past 10-15 years that slowly builds steam throughout the year. This team is no better in late October than they were in mid August. We may not even get an opportunity to play Weddington or Reynolds again, we may be packing it up after the 1st or 2nd round at this rate.

LOL.... Talk crap about Erwin. That freshman at TC is going to be good. Very bright future for that kid.

Even TCR has the Asheville running game figured out.
Erwin just might be #2 in the MAC this year.

I have seen ACR play and Rico is a special player. But you MAC guys have failed to give Reynolds front seven on defense their respect. ACR has scored a lot of points quickly and put the defense on the field a lot. ACR is not just one player. The offensive line is good as well. The line is one player from being very good.

The only weakness is the secondary. Yet no one has been able to exploit it but Shelby.

No we haven't tarheel man. Just hope we get wins the next 2 weeks and get the 4 seed for the playoffs

Hey AHS bloggers, how does it feel to be fighting it out for second. Shoe is on the other foot now. I know what it feels like and worse. Many years Erwin football sucked. We are much better now and its a totally different world. Still not the very top of the pile but they are working on that. Reynolds is most likely the best overall team in the area with several great players. If they stay healthy the sky is the limit. Good luck next week with N.B.. They are another team you should not have a problem with.(yea) See you in two weeks to decide who is second best in the MAC.

Dynasy. No disrespect to asheville. You guys have been great for years. One of your fans likes to trash other programs that aren't as successful and then can't take it when he gets it back. You guys will be just fine.
