(10)Asheville at (7) Erwin for the second time in 7 days. I said before this game is for bragging rights for Erwin, a chance to save face after last night for Asheville and the opportunity to get either of our asses beat the following week against Crest. As for us, I don't know how as a coach, you can get this team back after that debacle last night. What a bunch of cry babys we have on our roster. Like I said, the big guy who got hurt didn't say a single word to a teammate last night in the second half. He was asleep on the sideline, not cheering for his guys and completely uninterested. That's sad. Then the heart and soul of the team goes off the deep end, for a reason we still don't know. I just don't know how the result in 6 days could be any better than the one last night. Maybe I will be wrong. Also, can someone please explain to me why we continue for the last 15 years to play backups on our special teams? We were gonna get the ball back with 5 mins left down 8 nearly at midfield and one of our guys who ONLY plays special teams lets the ball touch him and that was basically the game right there.
Offensively, Erwin doesn't have the horses they have had in years past, but their offensive scheme is phenomenal. The plays they run are creative, fun to watch and effective. Bucky Tarr and Mike Sexton have such a grasp on that offense that even without D1 talent, they keep you so off guard its hard to stop. But as I said last night, we held them basically to 14 points and we still lost, so that tells you how our offense is firing. Asheville last night had 4 turnovers (3 picks and a muffed punt) and 100+ yards in penalties. I think we only punted twice. I say at this point we should just go 4-5 wide. That's the only way we can get their 7-9 guys out of the box. We will see... We have to change something up because last night was a disgrace to Asheville high football. 6 points SMH.
(14) Piedmont at (3) AC Reynolds: Reynolds earned the right to play a cupcake in the first round. They advance easily, but I believe they play either Weddington who beat our ass the last 2 years and beat Reynolds ass last year in round 2. Or Cuthberston with their quarterback who has committed to Oklahoma. Either way it will certainly be a game in round 2. Reynolds easily wins this week though.
(11) Seventy First at (6) TC Roberson: A 9-2 team from Fayetteville is coming 275 miles up the mountain to play a team that is 3-8. There is something very wrong with that. Seventy first wins big I think.
