TC Roberson at Enka: Roberson comes out with a win in the final week of the year. Despite finishing the year with a 3-8 record, its likely the Rams will get a first round home game for 'winning' their conference championship by winning 1 game against McDowell. Enka has one more game, Roberson has 2. Roberson by 21.
North Buncombe at Reynolds: North Buncombe had a little dose of reality last week with us and it gets even worse this week. Reynolds will win this by as much as they want, North Buncombe wasn't was I thought they would be. Reynolds 63-10.
Erwin at Asheville: This game kind of lost some of its luster from the last couple years when Erwin started off 9-0. This game is still the game of the week (although there isn't much competition) and its senior night at Asheville high. I expect we will try to run it down Erwin's throat, but Sexton will have something up his sleeve. Still shocked at how little we have thrown the ball with our wide receivers. In the next couple weeks a team is going to stop our run and then we are going to go into desperation mode and throw it and it will be terrible because we haven't thrown it all season. Just like what happened against Weddington last year and last year we threw it more. Last week was a perfect opportunity to work on our passing game and resemble some sort of balance on offense. In the first game of the year Brewer makes 2 catches and had 2 touchdowns. The fact he has less than 9 catches since then is absolutely mind boggling to me. We are lucky we didn't get Reggie and Christian hurt worse against North Buncombe as much as we run them between the tackles. Its not a coincidence all 3 of our backs are hurt when we let teams tee off on them.
Isaiah Drummond, McDaniels and Hutchins should be on the field every play on defense this week because if we keep what we have back there right now we will continue to get beat deep and give up big plays like last week and the week before that. Damien Ferguson is more than capable of putting up big numbers, but I am sure he is still having nightmares of Jose Daniels from last year. Obviously everything starts with Austin offensively and if there is a 3rd down, that's where Ferguson is going. Not sure if Erwin will let Isiah Poore touch the ball this game, but he is someone that could do some damage. He needs to come play for us next year. God knows he wouldn't have to worry about getting the ball at Asheville high haha.
Both of these teams are looking for a better seeding in this game. Asheville is looking at a 4-5 with a win. Erwin would get a 7-10 with a win I believe. The 3AA west is shaping up to be one of the hardest brackets I have ever seen if Crest does indeed go big. You could have Reynolds, Asheville, South Iredell and Weddington all in that bracket. Cuthbertson and Erwin wont be easy outs for anybody either and they will be double digits seeds. Guess we will know in 7 days.
Asheville 35-21.
