TC Roberson at Enka: Roberson comes out with a win in the final week of the year. Despite finishing the year with a 3-8 record, its likely the Rams will get a first round home game for 'winning' their conference championship by winning 1 game against McDowell. Enka has one more game, Roberson has 2. Roberson by 21.

North Buncombe at Reynolds: North Buncombe had a little dose of reality last week with us and it gets even worse this week. Reynolds will win this by as much as they want, North Buncombe wasn't was I thought they would be. Reynolds 63-10.

Erwin at Asheville: This game kind of lost some of its luster from the last couple years when Erwin started off 9-0. This game is still the game of the week (although there isn't much competition) and its senior night at Asheville high. I expect we will try to run it down Erwin's throat, but Sexton will have something up his sleeve. Still shocked at how little we have thrown the ball with our wide receivers. In the next couple weeks a team is going to stop our run and then we are going to go into desperation mode and throw it and it will be terrible because we haven't thrown it all season. Just like what happened against Weddington last year and last year we threw it more. Last week was a perfect opportunity to work on our passing game and resemble some sort of balance on offense. In the first game of the year Brewer makes 2 catches and had 2 touchdowns. The fact he has less than 9 catches since then is absolutely mind boggling to me. We are lucky we didn't get Reggie and Christian hurt worse against North Buncombe as much as we run them between the tackles. Its not a coincidence all 3 of our backs are hurt when we let teams tee off on them.
Isaiah Drummond, McDaniels and Hutchins should be on the field every play on defense this week because if we keep what we have back there right now we will continue to get beat deep and give up big plays like last week and the week before that. Damien Ferguson is more than capable of putting up big numbers, but I am sure he is still having nightmares of Jose Daniels from last year. Obviously everything starts with Austin offensively and if there is a 3rd down, that's where Ferguson is going. Not sure if Erwin will let Isiah Poore touch the ball this game, but he is someone that could do some damage. He needs to come play for us next year. God knows he wouldn't have to worry about getting the ball at Asheville high haha.
Both of these teams are looking for a better seeding in this game. Asheville is looking at a 4-5 with a win. Erwin would get a 7-10 with a win I believe. The 3AA west is shaping up to be one of the hardest brackets I have ever seen if Crest does indeed go big. You could have Reynolds, Asheville, South Iredell and Weddington all in that bracket. Cuthbertson and Erwin wont be easy outs for anybody either and they will be double digits seeds. Guess we will know in 7 days.
Asheville 35-21.

If Crest goes big and Concord also which I believe both will there will be 5 teams reporting 10-0 seasons (ACR, Crest, Weddington, Concord, and South Iredell) in the 3AA west, meaning Asheville with a win this week would be at best a 6 seed with a 9-1 record. That is amazing! Erwin with a loss I think is looking at a 14 or 15 seed.

Yea its crazy to think Asheville could be a 5-7 seed depending on how the teams fall. There are potentially 3-4 number 1 seeds in the same bracket.

If 5 teams report a 10-0 season as listed above two of those teams would meet in the SECOND round as 4 and 5 seeds. Who it would be depends on the 5 way draw for the top seed

ACR 49 NB 10
AHS 28 Erwin 21
TCR 38. Enka 7

ACR hopefully gets to rest some guys for the playoffs.

Not sure how the Asheville-Erwin game will go. If we play like we did against NB , we will be fine. If we come out lethargic and turn the ball over, then Friday may be the last home game of the season. Our safeties scare me going up against the Erwin passing attack. They have been pretty good in run support but very suspect out in coverage the last couple weeks. I'm sure Erwin will consistently put 8 & 9 guys in the box to try to slow down our running game. Will be interested to see how often we go to the air in this one.

ACR 60 - NB 12 This one won't be worth watching.

TCR 35 - Enka 14 I like what TCR is doing right now. Many won't agree, but I think their new coach is turning thing around.

AHS 35 - Erwin 32 Asheville has the playmakers to run this one up, but I don't think it will happen. Too many guys that aren't interested in playing a 100% game. Erwin will hang around and drive our secondary crazy right up to the last few seconds of the game. I could honestly see this one going either way.

Unfortunately this probably won't be the last week in MAC play. In the playoffs they always schedule two MAC opponents in the first round. I hope they don't but it is likely. Would love to see all teams play a different team first round.

That's what scares the hell out of me, not only in this game, but any remaining games we have. That is BY FAR the biggest weakness on our defense. We cant afford to have Isaiah Drummond on the sideline while teams are just busting big plays deep. Hes too good to just rest on the sideline. Its crazy how many turnovers we forced last year compared to this year. Last year at this time we had 10-12 interceptions. This year we might have 4.

North Buncombe/ACR- ACR rolls in this one. Hoping Rico gets the TD Responsibility record for WNC this week. He needs 7 to break it. 56-17 Final.

Enka/TCR- TCR simply out athletes a weak Enka team. TC wins easy 34-13

Erwin/Asheville- Should be a helluva ball game downtown this Friday. Score comparing says that Asheville should roll after Erwin struggled with North Buncombe.. I think the score comparing is right on in this case... Asheville's front dominates the night, Battle& Co. wins at home 34-20.

Yea if we are comparing scores to Enka McDowell and North Buncombe then Asheville should dominate and win by as much as they want to, but our defense has 2 glaring weaknesses and that is why I am not as confident as I should be. Even with Erwin not being as good as the past 2-6 years, I am surprised none of their fans have really commented on this game. The last 2-3 years this thread has had 3 pages by now. Id like to see us finish the season strong. I predicted 35-21 but I could see us winning by 35 or losing by 1. Our kicking game is a joke. We have a 50/50 chance on making a pat.

We Erwin fans are holding our breath till late Friday. If the Erwin team we know comes out to play we can win but if the Erwin team that has played the last 4 weeks comes out we are in big trouble. I think we will see a inspired Erwin team this week. If so the game will be down to the wire.

If we play defense like we played the first games of the year(Mt. Paron) then Erwin has a chance. AHS always plays us tough. Coach Wilkins sets his defense to keep our team from having long scoring plays. He uses his ground game to cut the game short.(clock control) On the other hand we have to crash the line of scrimmage and play defense on AHS side of the ball. Erwin needs to keep Asheville's offense guessing where they are coming from. Should be a competitive game. Senior night and honoring 2005 St.Championship team. A loaded up night for high school football. See you there.

Is anybody else a little surprised this game hasn't gotten a little more coverage? Maybe something will come out tomorrow in the paper, but I am surprised we haven't seen even a little write up this entire week. I realize this game doesn't mean much except for seeding, but it is the #2 vs #3 team in the WNC mountains, I figured there would be something about it.

i graduated from the 2012-2013 Erwin team an i don't think how you play other teams matter. its how you feel on that night that season we lost to AC Reynolds an McDowell but asheville beat both of them still when asheville played us we beat them 61-35 if asheville comes out with the big head they will lose Friday

ACR wins 62-7, NB WR #4 scores

Asheville 35-34.
Erwin will throw for over 300 yards as the Wilkins Prevent Offense will allow Erwin a chance to win in the 4th.

Didn't Erwin's juniors & sophomores win middle school championships?

I will say if, and that's a big if, if Erwin finds a way to stop our running game. We are done. We will lose and get a 11 seed and play crest or weddington in the first round at their place and this will go down as the most underachieving team in the last 15 years. But I don't think Erwin can stop our running game. When they are 9-0 they can't stop our running game. At 6-4 they better not be able to stop it either. I have no doubt in my mind Erwin knows absolutely everything we are going to do on offense. Everybody in wnc knows what we are going to do offensively. The plays we are going to run tomorrow are the same plays we ran in 2011, 2008, 2006, 2004, 2002, 2001 etc. The reason we beat teams like Erwin is because our lines are typically bigger and stronger. Even though they are basically in our huddle and know everything we are doing, they just can't stop it. However I will say in the games we have looked terrible in this year, (Reynolds Roberson Franklin conover pisgah) our offensive line has been the definition of heartless and soft. If they decide they want to play and we don't have 3 turnovers we win by a large margin. Gowarrior said he doesn't like to compare scores and I understand that but it was very surprising to see Erwin struggle with teams like McDowell and even Enka! We are so Jekyll and Hyde though this year that we could blow Erwin off the field tomorrow or we could lose and give up 35 points. The back end of our defense has been pathetic the last 2 weeks to be kind. Oh, and get brewer the ball!

2005 state championship team is being honored tomorrow at half, I can assure you some of AHS greats will be in the locker room given ray Lewis type speech, also Leonard little will be home to give AHS a golden football, which the NFL is given to all high schools that players come from that won the super bowl, our boys will be jacked and ready I can assure you that!

Will be embarrassing if we don't come ready to play tomorrow with several former NFL, cougar all-time greats in the house (Leonard Little, Ray Roberts, Johnny White).

I read recently that no school in North Carolina had put more guys in the nfl the last 21 years than Asheville high. EE Smith, independence and Asheville high were all tied. That's pretty incredible.

JV scores from tonight???

ACR - 67
NB - 47
Rockets MAC Champions (co-champs if Asheville won tonight)

Asheville didn't play tonight. They counted the Erwin jv game from earlier in the year as a conference game. So Asheville and Reynolds win the jv conf champ. For whatever that's worth

Didn't Asheville beat Reynolds?
Yes they did, but for conference championship purposes they are considered co-champs. If a playoff seeding were involved then Asheville's win would give them the one seed from our conference, but no playoffs in JV so co-champs. Congrats to ACR and Asheville on good JV seasons.

(2012 erwin asheviile game) a lil motivation for Erwin
. Ahscougar1 I got sick to my stomach watching that video you just posted thank god for mike Sexton

The 2005 game was actually 42-7. 2012 Asheville team had the worst defense in the Wilkins era, even with how bad that team was,
we turned around and had Erwin beat the next week but choked it away.

I graduated from the 2012- 2013 team I play linebacker for 4years i was number 5 ik there was a differents in talent but the 2005 Erwin team come on now? That's be4 sexton era an that's when we sucked but now from 09 up my freshman year when things started to change I played for Asheville youth league so its not like I hate the cougars I was just putting up some motivation they can be beat

Asheville came out in something we didn't practice for we made adjustments at halftime an did Wat needed to be done we had a lot of injury's that year to stopped us short in the playoffs

We can find the 2002, 2003,2004,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010,2011,2013,2014 highlights too if you want. That 2012 team was the worst Asheville team Wilkins ever coached. Erwin wasnt much better as evident by our 18 point lead at one point with no josh irby

I played in the games were Wilkins won. So from 2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010,2011.
Bragging about beating the 2012 Asheville team is like bragging about beating the 2006 Erwin team
