That is the top 3 winningest schools in the state bit the bullet. Can't always win but your winning percentage can be higher than most,
Since the weeks MT Airy was playing Starmount and East Wilkes. I felt MT Airy was due for loss and i posted that earlier in the season, but the loss might come at a bad time in the playoffs. And it did. MT Airy has had a lot great football History. Far back as i can remrmber in the early 80s. MT Airy was 3A and made some really deep runs in the playoffs 1980, 1981, 1982 when they had players like James Brimm, George Franklin and 1987 when they were 2A.
Reidsville was another i thought that was due for a loss. Their run defense was really struggling stopping the runs. And when they struggled at times to beat West Stokes earlier in the season. And they lost in the 2nd RD
Hickory is still playing and i feel like their due for a loss. They have issues on defense stopping the runs and relying on offense to outscore their opponents the past 2 games. I believe West Charlotte can end Hickory winning streak. If not it will come in the State Championship game.
As for Tarboro they had their loss in Non Conference match up with Havelock. Sometimes its a blessing in disguise to get a loss. To motivate a program.

This West Charlotte team is loaded with athletes. The passing game and coach for Hickory gives them a chance
MA/ER and others like that will continue to be successful. MA got two straight which is awesome and can never be taken away. As a huge high school football fan I look forward to seeing how things pan out with the new alignment and how state titles work out. I think it will be more competitive for those schools moving up but time will tell.
