Lincolnton at Randleman

I don't remember them playing music like that during the regular season. Caught me off guard as well.

I think both sides were guilty of shenanigans. Both sides had their share of airhorn blarers. I thought airhorns were supposed to be illegal. I know one thing......I'm going to be hearing that bell in my head for the next month or two.😄
True, on the air horns. Not sure about their legality. I thought they'd been banned, too. South Iredell used to bring what sounded like hundreds. Ours was a total of 2, but they were loud! Tigers had a few more, and they were impressive...

I don't even care about fan noise, it's the stadium speakers that drowned out their band, and their fans, that caught me short.

Quick Q: the Randleman stadium layout is unique. The current visitor side is bigger than the home side, contains the home locker room, and has a press box. Was it once the home side?

(Old man reminiscing: we played Thomasville at Cushwa several years back. They played that bulldog growling and barking thru the whole game. It wasn't particularly loud, nor did it drown out the offense, but it was ever present...as was Gabe______, their RB. Auditory gamesmanship that didn't cover up the game ... )

Why I never…😂😂😂

That growling and barking at Cushwa was to drown out the ringing in our ears from hearing that incessant wolf howl the year before😂.

I'm not sure about "fair", lol. I just assume there's some rule somewhere about piping music during play. Our Northern neighbors did I'd a few years, but they've settled down, thank goodness.

The Orange/blue treated us ok, on balance. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the layout and the ease of parking. The hotdogs were decent. Their team running in and out thru our stands, and our sideline was odd, the roundabouts were interesting, the gate workers deserve a better operation, the spot for the cheerleaders is disappointing, the fans were loud, their RB was a brute, and the weather was perfect. The PA guy was garbled and biased, but a source of unintended humor. The clock guy was obviously wearing orange and blue, he tried hard to run out the clock, but the refs corrected most of it. Coaches were gracious, EMS lethargic, police were on task, the music choices were very, um, interesting and really loud. I especially liked it when they played Hank Jrs "Family Tradition", and the announcer implored us all to sing along with the chorus about getting drunk and smoking weed, lol ...

I do like visiting new stadiums and seeing how they do stuff. We are pretty boring, compared to most. I do wish Richard Petty would have walked thru, tho.

Respect and prayers to Khomani Heath. You were making the difference before your injury. From contact to surgery, you showed strength and fire. Get well.

Yes, that was once the home side. Makes for some awkward situations (as evidenced by last night).

Where'd you sit, Kidd?

Wait. That was Chute comment on the game. I got confused, which is easy for me
Have not been to an away game since baby boy graduated five years back. And definitely wouldn’t go if ER wasn’t playing. Never liked orange/blue place even though beat them there when he was sophomore. Hated when they would run out before game and visitors side would be full of smoke for about a quarter. Happy for your team and especially Mr Lincolnton.

Is Kyle Petty still the quarterback at Randleman? I’ll be pulling for Lincolnton in this one. Randleman is to Far East for me to keep up with. Go get em Wolves !
Firstly no Kyle was even ahead of me in school (as I think you were by 78 in user name) Secondly looks like you pulling for Lincolnton pulled the through TWO DAYS AGO 😂 and lastly I’m still mad about South Point baseball in 1981 😢😢

I was at GWC in 81 so missed a few years there. What happened in 81 ? Did you just get beat, not a ton of ways to cheat in baseball. I know Willis and Lee could flat out pitch.
Got swept in two games. We were like 23-3 going in. Yes they could throw and shut us down. Never forget I was standing on third in top of 7th with two outs and coach for SP subbed out entire team one at a time so they could get a curtain call. 🤬🤬🤬

You ever know a guy named Roger Barker? He played baseball at GWC beginning in 81.

GWC baseball was pitiful when I was there. Way back when, I knew several players of course now names evade me. I had bought a GW baseball cap in the bookstore before classes started. The program was so underfunded I let a guy on my hall have my hat cause he was pitching that afternoon. They wore old, old uniforms and everybody had a red cap but most were not GW.

SPRaiders78 and thekidd12, Let me offer an example of a baseball town: This would have been around 1989, I was leaving Kings Mountain to come home, one day. There was an angry looking cloud over towards Cherryville which is about 9 or 10 miles away. I tuned in WCSL, the radio station there (in Cherryville).
Just as soon as I tuned in, the announcer hesitated for a moment and in the most serious voice told his audience to stand by while he confirmed this and that he would be right back, please stay tuned, they (his listeners) would want to hear this. Then they went to a commercial. I figured it was a national event if not something international. You could tell it was important.
The announcer came back on the air, took a deep breath and said, "Listen to this, undefeated Modern Polymer was upset 5-3 by the Howell Mill, this afternoon, in Little League baseball".
Always heard it said that what we, here, might consider to be of great importance might be of little importance in other places, and vice versa. I had that pictured as maybe being Mongolia, not Cherryville.

We have a few fans who believe cramps only happen in summer, only happen to us, and only happen because we don't drink pickle juice...as of a cramp indicates a character issue.

They forget we have a number, including our cramp victim, who played hard, both ways...
"Why don't they drink more! Get the pickle juice! Back in my day, we didn't cramp!"

Pickle juice is good for getting rid of cramps, if it’s got enough vinegar in it. The vinegar shocks the system and releases the locked muscle. Try it next time, it’ll get your attention.
I fear I steered the convo in a wrong direction. I believe in the merits of pickle juice, mustard, and hydration. I just want to make certain Chute doesn't mix me up with that particular guy! That was far from the only thing he screamed loudly, lol. It may have been the smartest thing he screamed, tho, lol.

Sounds like I may missed a good time.
I think it was the Smoky Mt. crowd that told the story of the guy in overalls, running around screaming and beating a hubcap with a stick. Mountain folks, what ya gonna do with em?
I think highly of SP, and like to visit your stadium. (But Burns can give you a run for the World's slowest National Anthem...It's a celebratory song, btw"

Anyway, is there a chance you are one of those SP fans who sit on the visitors side and cheer for the Home team, lol?
