Lincolnton at Randleman

Wolves heading to the Roundabouts. Looks like L'town struggled early on but are looking pretty tough right now. Wolves will have to deal with Randleman's potent one-two punch. Could be fun. I'll probably be up here since ER has the week off.
Chute, if my good friend Lincolnton makes the trip, you might want to meet him and lead him in. That Prius might be circling those roundabouts until breakfast. They’ve gotten the better of more eagle eyed men (though not nicer).

What can we expect from Randleman? We are coming off of a heartbreaker so I am interested to see how we respond to that emotionally exhausting game versus West. Looking forward to playing someone new

Thank you, OC, I may need the help. One positive is I won't run out of gas. Speaking of roundabouts, Davidson (the one across Lake Norman, not the county) has lots of them, and I don't know why. Maybe it makes them feel British.

Sometimes, I go over there to buy candy, this store calls them confections, glad they're not disinfections that might make them taste like Lysol. Got to say, though, it's really good candy. Next time I'm over there I'll have them mail some to you and yours. Good luck against the mighty Elks.

About Randleman, I remember them winning titles year after year back in the early 80's. Sure they'll be waiting on us. We've had some rough games, lately. CBH, about the one-two punch, everybody we play hits us with theirs. I think it's the name of our team, the Wolves. Perhaps it's because nearly everything you ever hear or read about wolves is bad, even the Bible cuts us no slack. Out of our ten games, at some point, we were behind in nine of them. I'm convinced the Tigers will be tough. Better not say too much good about them or I might be hearing from Mr. William H. Bonney 12. I was going to tell you all the best to Eastern but they're off until next week.

I don’t know if it’s the multiple roundabouts or the turn lanes in them, but the last time I took our friend Warren King there, I got him home at midnight. Seems like we figured out we were lost somewhere around Biscoe. Warren didn’t mind. He was counting how many restaurants were named after him. You know Burger King, Wing King, etc..

Wolf4Lyfe, here is a clip from WFMY Channel 2, of Randleman playing Providence Grove who is pretty good, on Oct.7th. It shows their quarterback Long hooking up with Goldston who must be one of their top receivers. You can also see their offensive and defensive lines and it's size and movements. along with a kicker who makes what looks like a 25 yard field goal. Randleman is in the white.

Orange/blue did win a couple of titles way back in the 80s mostly thanks to Tony Goss…
Guess which HS they dropped from schedule so they would finish off the last one undefeated?
👍😂😂

Would it have been the little school tucked away from all the rest located closest to the Randolph/Chatham county line ?
A large regret of mine caused by ER falling to 1A is not getting an opportunity to actually meet you in person. I think we could “shoot the breeze” for quite awhile over a Pepsi on various subjects, mostly down a memory lane that many of these whippersnappers have no inkling. Safe travels to you sir if you choose to traverse said roundabouts.
Looks like it won’t be nearly as cold as that night I spent up your way sometime back.

Lincolnton sports one of the earliest "roundabouts" in the State. It's funny that with 50+ years experience at using a daily roundabout, that the modern circles in other locations still intimidate me.

And I'd like an invitation to that meet-up between you guys. Mr. Lincolnton never fails to deliver lotsa wisdom, past and present.

It’s that damp cold coming off the creek. That’s why Lincolnton breaks out the coveralls. Secret weapon.

AlwaysAWolf, thank you my friend. Any wisdom I might have picked up was taught to me by guys like you and your family, along with me screwing things up for so many decades then discovering the right answer much later. I honestly believe this is one of the very few places on earth that would tolerate me. Maybe that's why I feel so indebted to them.

OC, not too many years back a lady I knew and liked who was originally from here, then married someone in another town nearby, and moved away, had come to one of our games to watch her grandson play (for the other team). I saw her come in and go to the other side. After the game I stood by the visitors' gate waiting for her to exit just to say hello and for her to maybe, just maybe, say how good it was to see me. When she came by me I said hello and that it was good to see her. She said "After all these years I had forgotten how cold it gets and how miserable it feels over here after dark". She then kept on walking, didn't say goodbye or nothing else. I ought to put her name on here but she still has family in town so in deference to them I won't...Speaking of coveralls, I still got them. They work ! You're right, the cold and dampness comes through the clothes. It took me fifty years to figure out that layers of clothing will block the cold and not wear a cotton t-shirt. The cold is the biggest complaint we get from visiting fans.

AMD, your getting to aggressive now, you got to make a trip back over to the crashing academy and loose some of that pent-up hostility. Course, at least you're not fussing about Coach Pound being a Lincolnton sort.

BFR, wasn't coach Bazzle at Newton-Conover in 2008 when they soundly beat Tarboro for the state title ?

LOL. I can't envision anyone from Lincolnton driving a Prius. Belmont maybe.

As far as navigating the roundabouts, I would tell Lincolnton this...........as long as your driving AWAY from the Sheetz and Hardees and not TOWARDS the highway, you're doing good.

Thanks CBH, those are easy directions, away from Sheetz, Hardees and the highway. I'd thought some about it and came to the conclusion to stay in the inside lane until I'm sure which exit to take. AlwaysAWolf mentioned the one we have here, the court square, staying in the inside lane until you decide which exit would work, but going away from the landmarks you told me about helps even more.
By the way, there are a few Prius' here in Lincolnton, but I doubt if there are any in West Lincoln. They all drive big trucks, and they drive angry, too. I'm not sure they know what a Prius is. They believe it's the preacher at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church. All I know is they hate gas saving cars. I COULDN'T AFFORD NOTHING ELSE.

Now sir if you stay in inside lane too long it’s probable you may need to be driving one of those gas/electric/hydrogen/battery powered things. Place will be lit up anyway. Ain’t nowhere else to go up there unless you’re heading to the Walmart.

Here in Randolph we have our fair share of big ole trucks. I myself might own quite a few. However none of mine are jacked up like you might see in that roundabout. What the heck is the Carolina Crawl? Sounds like a line dance…

Lol I keep looking back to see if I even posted on this thread 🤣🤣

thekidd12, thank you my friend for the Info on the roundabouts. Also, I’m good with the big trucks. The reason the get after me is because I drive very slow. I realize it’s aggravating to fellow motorists; It’s just that when I exceed 35 MPH it feels like I’m flying an airplane.

AMD, I kinda got turned around. It was over on the CVAC thread where you were heaping praises on Coach Bazzle...I never knew him. He was from East Lincoln. I knew his sister. She was a really nice person. I know him when I see him.

thekidd12, About the Carolina Crawl, if you were asking me, I don't know what that is. We have the Art Crawl and Christmas Cruise-in/Crawl. Maybe the Carolina Crawl is a reference to me going to the Doughnut for morning coffee. That's when the big trucks get after me about my driving.

SWITCH THE TURN SIGNAL OFF!!!

Ok I have to admit I’ve caught myself driving for miles a couple of times lately before I noticed that click click sound…

Carolina Crawl is when they jack the front of a truck way up in air. Don’t know how they drive looking at clouds???

I seem to remember reading that the legislature, while masterminding the takeover of high school sports, also managed to render the Carolina Crawl illegal. Of course, they probably thought it was something of prurient interest taught in public schools. And I understand that, in Randolph County, laws are viewed merely as suggestions.
Carry on.

dogs86mvp, it's awfully good to hear from you. I know you must be excited about the playoffs. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Bulldogs make a bunch of noise, this year. On their side of the bracket is Draughn, out of Valdese along with Andrews. I know you and OC and all the T'ville faithful will be cheering them on. Who knows, it might be time for another title.

thekid12, and OC, you must have a spycam on me. Nearly every day I leave the turn signal on. If it clicks I'm not able to hear it. I drive around town with it on. People pull along side of me and I can see their mouths moving. I try not to read their lips or imagine what they're saying. I just give this wide forced grin and nod my head yeah a few times, almost always they go on. Last week, a woman got after me pretty bad. She happened to be going to the grocery store, too. When I parked she did, too. This time she came over into the row I was parked in to get onto me. Usually the nodding takes care of it but she meant to walk me in the store, so I told her, "damnit, I don't want to hear it, get on". Surprisingly enough, she did. I'd thought about doing my chest pain routine or my coughing fit if that didn't work, but it did.🤠

thekidd12, if you’re watching the World Series, Jeremy Peña for the Houston Astros who just got a hit, holds his bat like one of the Eastern Randolph legion players that I saw in Cherryville in 1981. I’d mentioned it to you once before, in case you noticed the unusual way Peña holds his bat.
Oh I’ve noticed. Can’t remember who hit that way but I would say he was imitating George Brett. And let’s just say I’m “halfway “ watching Worlf Series. Fall asleep between fifth and seventh inning every game. Have to look up who won next morning. 😂

My son is the inside LB #11.

Been doing a little reading on 2A board some. Specifically on some people’s perception of last Friday’s ER/orange/blue game. While final score made it seem like a fairly close game in fact it really wasn’t. Orange/blue had one decent drive all night. It ended in a fumble while they were around the ER 10 yard line. ER couldn’t move ball and punted using backup due to starter getting hurt in first half from near end zone. Best athlete for orange/blue returned for TD about 35 yards to make it 21-7. ER scored after long drive that took most of 4th quarter to go up 28-7. On kickoff same athlete returned to ER 40. Wish and a prayer throw from orange/blue resulted in another TD with around 3 minutes left in game. My point in this soliloquy is final scores can be deceiving.

However I will try to do my whammy thing for you Mr Lincolnton 😂

Randleman has two main guys to look out for. The first is running back Amarion Moton. Moton is a 260 lb wrecking ball. He's also deceptively agile for his size. Tigers will look to establish him early and often.

The second is wide receiver Tyshaun Goldston. He's a gamer. 6-3, fast, and has great hands. Just a sophomore. He could give the Wolves some problems. Oh....probably not a good idea to kick it to him either.

Tigers also have two other guys to focus on. Chesney Welch is their WR/TE. He has good size and good hands. The QB, Christian Long, is not flashy but he's tough and plays well within their system.

Randleman has fairly decent size in the trenches. IMO, the biggest question mark for them this game will be their defense. The Lincolnton QB looks pretty mobile and also looks like he can sling it. Tigers had problems with that type of QB when they played North Stanly.
