This is rarely done by Lincolnton posters but since this game was for the conference title and pitted the number one offense against the number one defense in the SD7, and given the effort by our team I felt like it deserved a victory thread.

Usually, when we lose, one of our posters makes a thread to give the other team credit for their win over us, if someone from the other team doesn't make one first.

It was a tough game but the Wolves dominated on defense and offense. Not trying to taunt anyone but we were the better team. When Lincolnton scored their third touchdown and went into the half up two scores The game wasn't in doubt any more.

Our defense contained Tucker and did pretty good at holding J. Boyce who did so much damage to East Lincoln.

Tucker made a good effort to cover Surratt but he couldn't get it done. I don't think Dula or Kunkel could match up with Givens. A very big congrats to our running backs, particularly X.McClain and X. Littlejohn, Two very tough guys.

Maybe this is just me and is paradoxical but sometimes a single play can have a serious effect on momentum.Tonight I believe it was the punt that penned The Warriors deep in their territory with the Wolves up seven to six. Fortunately we haven't had to punt so much this season and I can't see out of one eye so well, even with glasses, I couldn't see his number, but whomever our punter is he hung it up there and it took a serious roll in our favor.

Way to go Wolves on a good win, We have Maiden to worry about, now. Best wishes to West Caldwell in the playoffs.

Glad my buddy Cheerduck and his brother made it down. I saw where Hon Dines was coming over, glad to have him here, and I saw where Ms.King had left scores on here, I'm hoping she came down and took in our game, too, and I also saw where NC Preps most esteemed poster, namely, Shelby Lion Gave us a congrats on here. Thanks buddy.

Oh,one other thing, I put a lot of stock in the assessments of the poster CM3 and of course, I'll continue to do that, and I confess to you I wish he was one of ours, if any of you know him. Now, I won't say where his allegiance is but I can tell you that it rhymes with Beeeeast Lincolnnnnnn ,everybody, if you get my drift.

Anyway, I asked him this week on another thread if he thought that minus early turnovers by the Mustangs against West Caldwell, and even if T. Tucker would have completed the game , might The outcome have been different, and he didn't seem to think so. I wonder about that.

Another little side note: What is that unique aftershave lotion some of our fans use, sometimes ? It was out there, last night. Must have been Aqua Velva, LOL.

Lincolnton, I was there tonight with my mother and sister. We sat along the fence in our chairs near the play clocl (fieldhouse side). It was a nice evening for football and I enjoyed the competition of both teams.

Thanks for coming, Deana. You're always welcome, here.

Lincolnton...... Nice post btw.... And so you know #82 Givens is our punter...and its funny how things happen..but the two longest punts of his career have come against West Caldwell....10th grade he hit a 60+ yarder and last night I think was 50+......

The brother and I enjoyed our trip down for the game. Both teams should go deep in the playoffs, but the Wolves were just too strong last night.

Early on the WC line was pushing the Lincolnton line way back, but after the third or fourth possession, good adjustments were made and the running game for WC was stymied the rest of the way. I also believe Surratt was spying Tucker the entire game and that proved very effective.

Good luck to the Wolves going forward and also to the Warriors. WC has many fine underclassmen that should keep momentum going in their direction for the next couple of years.

Lastly, does anyone have an explanation for the kick off being a do over after the Wolves recovered in the third quarter?

I understand that the do over kick was the result of an inadvertent whistle by the refs during the scramble for the recovery. I thought the refs were a little shaky the whole game.

Congrats to the Wolves. We saw a tough, physical defense by the Wolves with the offensive play makers (a couple of Xaviers in the running game and C. Littlejohn, Surratt, Givens in the passing game) making things happen. Xavier Littlejohn - 124 yds rushing, Xavier McClain - 122 yds rushing complemented the passing game well. That balance is what makes the Lincolnton offense so hard to defend.

Well said.....

Those refs need to return their outfits to WalMart. My favorites were an illegal procedure against WC on first down. The ref marked off 6 yards as the penalty making it 1st and 16. Also the first catch that Surratt had in the 1st qtr and defensive pass interference was called. The refs marked off half the distance after the play was spotted. The WC head called time out to discuss with the white hat, who then moved the ball back. I wonder if they gave him his time out back? LOL

Congrats on the win and keep my good bud, JD straight if you can.

Zukerider, thanks for reminding me who our punter is. The Wolves have punted so little that I forgot. As hard as it is for me to see numbers, particularly after working long hours, I was still able to tell that this punt was a spiral. The stadium lights hitting the ball created a shimmering effect making the ball look very wet, and when I saw the way it stayed high, I thought it's going to take a roll for us, and it sure did.
We really needed it at that point. If the punt has been shanked or would have been short they would have been in a position of advantage after holding us fairly deep in our own territory.
I'm kind of old school on this but that's where a kicking game means so much.Great job 82.

Great to see a kicker getting some props, Lincolnton. They usually only get a mention when they shank one, or miss the game winner.

No problem...

Thanks Hibriten97 Good luck to the Panthers. I know you're looking forward to the playoffs. Hope the four games you have to win to get to the ship are all in Lenoir.

Lincolnton has a very good football team. They can hurt you on offense from many different areas. 2 very good WRs 2 very good rbs a very accurate Qb and solid ol. There defense is also very solid. Their ends 52 and 7 played a good ball game. Good luck to the wolves the rest of the way.

I think the one play that changed the game was when Tucker broke threw the middle and was in open field and would have scored but he tripped down. That would have gave west a 13-7 lead

Wow don't think I've ever been considered an esteemed poster ha ha! Thanks my friend

Always been a fan of how Lincolnton plays and their fan base ! Just good hard working folks that love their community and their team ... Good people good football!! Not to mention a fine fine Mr Lincolnton as a fan and ambassador for high school ball!!!!
Good luck rest of the way ( well unless we meet again ha ha )

Yep that was it! The play that changed the game... Yessir, you got it!

I had that kicker dad disease a couple of years ago. Enjoy every swing of the foot. It passes way too quickly!
I try..but its hard when we rarely punt.... If I'm not mistaken I think that was only our 7-8 punt all season...just glad he's made them count when needed.....

Fair enough. Add up the rest of the shouldacouldas and we win 50 to 13. Works for me.

I certainly do, Mr. Lincolnton. When "Red" punted the ball it sounded like a cannon going off and it would go higher than the stadium lights before descending back to earth. I'm sure he only punted 15 times that year in 12 games too!

#82 is so clutch when he has to be, he's a beast in his own right! One last conference game and then we into the nitty gritty of playoffs. Should be home games throughout ... I wish I could express the feeling I get being around them this year, the sense of hunger and striving for greatness, it is such a special year.
