I’ve seen a lot of football over the past 40 so years, so it got me thinking about top players?

What state-wide player from another school would you have loved to see playing for your school?

I loved watching QB Chris Leak at Independence play. He threw perfect passes and just was so awesome to watch. Of course, we were primarily a running team back then. Lol!

What area player from a neighboring school would you have loved to see playing for your school?

Justin Billips was a Ram for a year before he left to go to Elkin. He was one of the best to do it from our area.

Freedom might well have had the Surratt brothers from East Lincoln. Their mom and dad are both from Morganton and their dad played for Freedom. They would have been there when we had BJ Emmons.
If we could have gotten Landon Dickerson (Hickory and then S. Caldwell) to go with them and what we already had then, we would have been hard to stop.

Johnny Fraiser from the days Coach Minor was at Princeton he ties the state record for TD.s in one season. He had every coach in the country after him but got lazy his Senior year but still ran for over 2000 yards that year! He went to NC STATE but drop out. He would be in the NFL if he just worked on his game!! 9.240 career all-purpose yards 109 TD in three years on varsity!! JR season rush for over 3042

That's kind of scary to think about.

From the state, probably Stephen Gosnell from more recent memory.

From the surrounding area, even though I was a baby at the time and only know the stories I've read about them. The Streeter Brothers.

RIP to the great Steve Streeter. One of the saddest things I can remember is him going off to sign a contract to play for the Redskins and then crashing his car on the way home and being paralyzed.

I go with West Rowan Kevin Parks. Would like to see him played at South Iredell. So many good players over the years I’ve seen played. It hard to pick which ones.

Good topic with this is. What all players would you pick for a dynasty team. I’m sure there be some good answers with this.

Kelvin Bryant with Tarboro, the Fall of 1978. He only played the first half of games…

Toney Baker from Ragsdale was a force to be reckoned with in his day. He was going to get his either way; you just hoped to get more.

I'd mostly forgotten about him until this thread, but I still remember how he scored 15 touchdowns in three games playing for Carolina. I hope he's had a happy life after football, but it's hard to find much about him.

Sara Stevens tried to blame it on the school, according to the front page of the Mount Airy News this week, like MA would turn down the money that all the other schools got. lol, They will not get my vote in the next election.
