OG qb scrambles out of bounds at the Ledford 19. 3rd and 5 with 55 secs left. Ledford stuffs it. 4th and 3 at 17 with. 47 secs left.
Wow. What a classic. Huge props to both teams, they played their guts out.
Listened to the last few minutes of regulation on the radio and watched the overtime on tv. Great game that either team could have won. Congratulations Oak Grove!
Ledford came out with more emotion and played a more physical game, but OG showed tremendous poise at the end. The 2 4th down conversions on the final drive were crazy. You gotta give Ledford credit, and Lackey was off the charts good.
Lackey almost beat OG all by himself. Ledford had more big plays, OG drove the ball more consistently but had trouble finishing at times.

I can’t remember the last time I was at an overtime game. I have to say that both teams played hard and both played clean. The officiating crew was pretty solid too, which I kind of anticipated that they’d with this kind of game.
You are absolutely correct about the Thomasville game. This game is prime for one of those “let down weeks”. (Ask Davie County after losing tonight).

Never thought I’d say this but Chris Adams had his kids more prepared for this game than Holcomb, and had a great defensive scheme much of the night. Shoecow is a grown man out there. Overall, OG has a good, solid football team but very weak in the grand scheme of things when you look at their record vs the reality of their talent level. This is a team that could lose in the first few rounds of the playoffs as a top tier seed (if they can beat Tville).

Thomasville will have to play their best to stay in this one. But the Cushwa dogs will be great regardless.
If they go 2AA East they might see Ledford again. And eastern teams might give them problems with speed, but overall I expect 2AA East to be weak again.
bingo! I told my buddy tonight that when/if OG plays big boy speed, they would get their tails whipped. Luckily they haven’t played anybody with what I would call great team speed.
Currituck beat Hertford County tonight. I was thinking Hertford might give OG some problems but who knows?
Salisbury has good speed in spots but not like some of the great/elite teams we see in 2A usually.
Didn’t see the Thomasville vs. Salisbury game. But my perception is that they have more speed than the ‘Dogs.
I haven’t seen the dogs in person this year but I’d imagine at worst, Tville has equal speed to Salisbury. OG just not impressive tonight against a spirited Ledford team

This was the best boring game I have ever watched. Both teams offense is a struggle. And this was not a defensive battle, it was just really bad offenses. Leford has Lackey, that’s it. Watching him trying to throw the ball is painful. Ledford became very predictable. If they got behind the chains, they had no bounce back. Oak Grove Offense has no it-factor. Shewcow runs hard, but it’s no other threat. I thought OG had the best offense coming in. Ledford Offense might be better. That’s not saying much. Lackey just had the big play ability. OG Special teams is very bad. But congrats to OG for winning At least a share of the CCC championship in only year 2!!!

Great game tonight by Shewcow also. His effort is consistently so good that I think it gets taken for granted at times that he is going to get his yards. He works his butt off on every carry but never seems to get tired. What a competitor.
I have noticed that OG seems to struggle against the blitz. They don't make teams pay very often for bringing pressure, and Salisbury and Ledford both exploited that. I would expect Tville to dial it up next week.

I have to disagree to some extent. The defenses were good, especially Ledford's.
The Oak Grove offense is pretty one dimensional, but it's not bad. They came in averaging 48 points a game.
I agree that Ledford's offense literally has only one dimension, but what a show he put on.

I don’t think they have a problem with speed. I think may be the opposite. Lackey’s quickness causes everybody problems. Lackey was walked down by OG defenders on 3 long runs. Great game. They have been played Salisbury and Lackey with speed It seems everybody keeps coming up with reasons why OG will lose. Give them their due. 8-0. When you are down 14-7 facing adversity for the first time all season, and you proceed to drive and score the tying touchdown converting two 4 th downs, it is something special. Thomasville is on a roll. They have beaten a ND team that lost their QB and isn’t anywhere near as good without him. I guess they have beaten everybody’s murderer’s row, South Rowan, East Davidson, and West Davidson the last 3 weeks. This may not be as close as everybody thinks. Thomasville has athletes though, and a good coach. Athletes always have a chance.
