Congrats to ledford for their first win in 11 years... Their defense is legit, we had several dropped passes that could have been big but credit ledford for plugging when they had to.

Two missed field goals... Questionable play calling... Whatever. It's a new season now, the playoffs are coming.

All we can do is wait and see on seeding... Probably traveling a lot.
 
Games like tonight show that Flynn isn’t really a great coach. He’s riding talent right now. Minimal in game adjustments.

wow...congrats to Ledford....I was listening to the game on line and of course the link went down.....right when ND caught a pass at the end of the game and had it first and goal at the 3........What the heck happened after that?????

And then put the ball on the right hash for the kicker instead of centering it up on 3rd down. That kid has been money on extra points all year. Put him in the middle of the field and he makes it. There were some really bad decisions in that sequence, and I feel terrible for that kid.

You said it before me. Holcomb was a tough loss. North had way more horses than the rest of the 2A’s last year so not many challengers to face in conference or early playoffs.

Execution has not been on north’s side this year and that is a coaching thing.

Good thing is he’s still young and can grow as a coach for the coming years.
 
Again, Ledford is a really good football team but overall, I think North is slightly better. But in big games where talent is comparable, coaching wins out most of the time and that was the case tonight. Flynn is a decent high school football coach if he has talent, but when you have to play chess against another quality opponent, he will fail miserably.
 
I had already seen Ledford play this year, and I have thought since the time I saw them play that ND would have a very difficult time moving the ball on their defense. I was right, North really did nothing until the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. North's defense did a very good job as usual, it's just tough to see the piss poor decision making at the end of the game to snatch a victory from the Knights. Congrats to Ledford though, they earned that CCC title and their defense is great. When the playoffs start, a team is going to have to have a REALLY strong offense to score on them.

I have nothing else to say other than maybe it'll create the right mindset needed for playoffs...

I'm done talking. I'm done hyping. Everything now is about moving on or playing basketball.

But yes, I truly think we’re getting ready to see the beginning of a decline at North Davidson. They have no quarterback to speak of waiting in the wings. The JV quarterback has never played a single down until this year. The current varsity quarterback is throwing passes at receiver’s ankles. The seniors this year are excellent, but they are going to leave a Serious void in so many positions.

Oak Grove, Thomasville, Ledford and maybe Salisbury are on the rise. It’s conceivable that North could be a 4th or 5th place team in the CCC in a few years.

Holcomb is going to come out smelling like a rose. Perhaps he saw the talent drying up as well?

Haters hate on..... I’ve experienced bad coaching before at ND. None of you have any clue what your talking about. Lose Flynn and watch what would happen to North Davidson.... Fair weathered fans are the most dangerous. Y’all stay tuned. Y’all were AMAZING players in your day.. be a part of the solution, not the problem. Shake my head. You ALL should look in the Mirror and be really really ashamed.

Okay... A few thoughts...

Ledford earned that win. They deserved it. I still think we are a better team overall, but we made mistakes and dropped passes we had no excuses for. A snap over the head for a safety and a great call by the ledford coaches to run right at the spot Stephens vacated because of injury are the difference in the game. It should have never come down to a field goal but hey, football is football.

I would love to be a part of the solution... The whole premise behind why I coach is for the average athlete. I wasn't amazing. And I presume that is sarcasm. I was average. And injured my knee about 15 times in 4 years for the honor of contributing to ND football.

But you know what? That experience prepared me to make average athletes good and good athletes great. My coaching resume speaks for itself in that regard... I always assume everyone I coach is an average athlete. No room for being complacent after that...

Bad coaching... I could write a book on that purely from the 2006 season. For all the wrong reasons. How I learned NOT to coach a team. These coaches do much better, even factoring in the difference of athletes.

Fair weather? I am behind these boys to the end. And maybe, just maybe if we play to our full potential it will be a fun playoff run. I'd love to be part of the solution, but I live in East Bend now. More likely I'll be helping out in Yadkin, Stokes or Forsyth next year.

Be safe tonight, gents. It's just one loss. And ledford proved something tonight. They made history. They beat North for the first time ever when both could say they were good. Credit and kudos to their staff for that.

I'm not getting on our staff. They do a great job and put long long hours in. But I just disagreed with the play calling at the goal line, that's it.

Buckle up, buckaroos... Playoffs, here we come...

Why did Holcomb leave ND? He had an established successful program there with what seemed like a steady pipe line of talent always coming up to replenish losses to graduation. The ND football fan base is loyal and dedicated and there are pretty good facilities. Did he want the challenge of building a program from scratch?

Absolutely not. Everybody knew that Ledford was going to be a tough game to win and the Ledford folks knew the same thing about beating ND. What was just unbelievable was what happened after ND had the ball 1st and goal at the 3 yard line with a minute and a half left and pretty much victory right there for the taking. Especially when you have a 235 pound linebacker/fullback that gets to carry the mail a lot inside the 5 yard line. The young man is pretty much unstoppable in that situation. I'm almost certain I know what the staff was wanting to do there, but it totally backfired on them.

Chill. Its 1 loss. Stop getting defensive when people are just speaking their opinion, learn to accept and deal with criticism. Every week isn't going to be peaches and cream. I think ND have very good coaches. I do think they tend to struggle against good to great coaching. That's why I respect Shelby program much over the years. Win lose or draw, nobody's getting upset with criticism. Just get it right next time. ND will be fine in the playoffs. They'll make another run. This game was a wake up call

I find it Humorous that an account was made just last night just to call others all by name and try to impress that they may know who we were. Regardless, my name was spelled wrong so you don’t know me quite that well, lol !! What’s your name?

But I have nothing to hide, I’m a Christian and I believe Christians should have nothing to hide. Was I any good, not really!

Also I feel just fine looking in the mirror. I learned a long time ago, if you put yourself in the public light , be ready for public criticism. I accepted that 2 edged sword a long time ago.

It’s just football, I stand by my comments.

No bashing or hating here, and everything is okay, there were mistakes made all over the field and sideline, I am very confident they will learn from them and correct them! Two weeks to rest up some and prepare for the playoffs, I would not be surprised at a very focused, and determined run at the state title....these Seniors, and the coaching staff want it badly!!!

And DCmayor, I don't really understand your tone here with that, it will help nothing, if you read the posts of the ones you called out, you will see they are very supportive of ND football. I for one don't get on here bashing players or coaches, do I always agree with their play or decisions, of course not. But I will support them as I have since leaving North some 25 years ago. I think any and all that want to come cheer and watch should! Everyone is welcomed!!! It is a loss and yes it is hard to accept, but, its a whole new season now and time to correct the mistakes and get better from them.

Tarheel, looking like we possibly will be making the trip up there this year! If all works out, will try to come see you, I know where you will be roaming. I'm guessing ND will be looking at a 5-8 seed depending on all these crazy rankings, and with games to be played next week....

I’m not at all proficient in the seeding process, so I could be wrong, but wouldn’t we be looking at more of a 9 - 11 seed? Don’t all the conference champs get seeded before they start placing the second place teams?

I’ll say this and I’ve learned to this over the years... you wanna criticize the adults no problem. Just don’t insult the kids. It’s fine to say they didn’t play good but they are just high schoolers, not pros. But adults are fair game.

You may be right, I was just looking at the latest high school ot projections, they had ND as a 3 seed and Ledford as a 5, was just switching the two,due to last nights game, but I didn't figure in with North having 2 losses, it may push them down to a 9 or 11, will have to wait and see. I was talking about in the playoffs, looks as if I may have mixed Tarheel up with another poster from South Granville, my apologies...

Yes, the conference champs get seeded first, then the second place squads. I know I could be wrong, but I think North will end up with something like the 6 seed. Just my opinion.

The 2aa east will be very strong in the playoffs. Possible that West Stokes is in the east again. Want be much travel if they face North Davidson.

He's made comments before. Likes to chastise people for talking simple football, even if it's not all yay and happy. Even had the sack to say, "but I'm just a former davidson county mayor. What do I know?"

I dunno. What do politics have to do with football? Nothing. Based on Obama, I'm inclined to believe most politicians are fools when it comes to sports... Not everyone can be Bill Bradley. And politics have definitely done only a bit of good for sports while causing a bunch of idiocy that wouldn't have occurred otherwise...
