Thursday night, at the college coaches fair at Ayden-Grifton High School, not only did I get a chance to meet some regional college coaches, but I also met some area high school coaches, A-G, Rose, Southside, North Pitt, and Washington. And I flat out asked Washington's coach: how did you and your team feel about "The Blackout"? He told me that he was informed by our coaches ahead of time what was about to happen, and he basically told his boys to just relax and just let SWE do their thing, it's for the fans and it's not any type of disrespect. I wanted to know if they took any offense to it and he said no, not at all, some guys thought it was cool. When asked if it motivated them to really put it on us, he said buddy, we caught a bunch of breaks and lucky bounces in that game, so much so that we never even used that film. When a coach says something like that, that lets you know that even he feels like it wasn't so much what his team did to win, but rather what we did to lose. I actually feel better about that game now.
