Kinston vs. SW Edgecombe

Don't get me wrong, it was fun and exciting. But that night seemed over the top. We had a black out game last year on Halloween and everything went right. There is such a thing as too much hype and it bit us this year.
Let the kids have fun because they will always remember their high school football days win or lose and their teammates.

Thursday night, at the college coaches fair at Ayden-Grifton High School, not only did I get a chance to meet some regional college coaches, but I also met some area high school coaches, A-G, Rose, Southside, North Pitt, and Washington. And I flat out asked Washington's coach: how did you and your team feel about "The Blackout"? He told me that he was informed by our coaches ahead of time what was about to happen, and he basically told his boys to just relax and just let SWE do their thing, it's for the fans and it's not any type of disrespect. I wanted to know if they took any offense to it and he said no, not at all, some guys thought it was cool. When asked if it motivated them to really put it on us, he said buddy, we caught a bunch of breaks and lucky bounces in that game, so much so that we never even used that film. When a coach says something like that, that lets you know that even he feels like it wasn't so much what his team did to win, but rather what we did to lose. I actually feel better about that game now.

Wow. That really shows the respect that we all share for each other in the conference as well. Glad they took it as a "get hype" thing for the fans and not as a diss toward them. I honestly wish that game could have been a close hard fought one and even if we still came out with the L, it would have need a better game to watch than the fumble filled, lopsided loss we had. But IMO, the blowout loss helped us in the long run as a humbling experience.

Regardless, that's all in the past now and we're about 12 hours away from knowing who will be headed to Raleigh next Saturday!

Word of advice...getting there early gets you the best parking, but they still won't open the ticket booth until 50 minutes to an hour before kick-off.

Plan to arrive a little before 7. Don't really mind the parking dilemma as long as there's a spot somewhere. I kinda like being toward the back so your one of the first ones out!

I just had ankle surgery, so getting a close spot is important. But I'm getting there early moreso to get a seat. Lol. 6:30 at the latest. The way I see it, I'm not the only one thinking about there being a lack of seats, so everybody will probably get there early.

Very true. At this point though, standing room only is fine by me! 4th round is worth it but maybe there will be a spot left around 7. Lol. Sorry to hear about the ankle.

Last week, we had about 300-350 fans? There was plenty of room, and of course you had the standing room crowd along the fence, which gives a good view of the field too. But they wouldn't open the gate and the lines were getting long.
