The scoreboard is the only thing that matters to the boys. They want to win. You win the small battles first then work your way up. Confidence is key. Who wants to play when your not winning. You have got to get back to a certain level of a winning mentality. You know what cures that... winning. A winning mentality helps a program win in the long run. If you know you can win and get back to that level then you can pick up some better teams but until then you got to win first.

Building confidence beating up on cupcakes early can have a negative effect aswell.....dont really get a good look at your teams weaknesses.....i would prefer playing atleast 2-3 quality teams in non conf play early...get a better look at what you need to work on and how your team competes with a quality opponent.......building confidence by beating up on inferior teams isnt exactly a approach i would go with
I use us for example last season with new coaches they had a certain offensive set in mind.....in our scrimmages against Lakewood and the Jamboree against other small county schools the offense looked ok.......fast forward to the first game against Cape Fear a whooping what 30 total yards later we lose 15-0 and a huge red flag that maybe this wasnt the offense to go with.....if we would have played some scrub team probably wouldnt found that out and the coaches wouldnt made the necessary adjustments
We'll agree to disagree because in my opinion a winning mentality has nothing to do with the score on the scoreboard it's about character and kids pick that up from men/coaches that they believe in. If they truly believe you have their best interest at heart they will give you 100%. Not just on the field but classroom as well. Put things like SAT dates in front of them, take them if need be, teach them about respect by what they wear in public, etc. Most of them have never had it or get it at home because they don't have a roll model to show them. Can't blame a kid for behavior that he only knows and hasn't been shown the right way. Coaching should be a lot more than just 1 1/2 or 2 hrs especially when you're talking about youths lives even if you only reach 1 its a start.

Yes he definitely has his work cut out for him with Seattle having 3 backs on the roster that all played valuable minutes last season and proved they could make plays in the league. It also doesn’t help his situation that the man child from Alabama Bo Scarborough is on the roster as well but we are extremely proud of him and hopefully he can make the 53 man. If not I do think he may be able to sign on a practice team. All he has ever done is play hard and make his own luck.
Man he was a handful for the Bulldogs, I know that. I can still see him doing that little jump stop move he had or whatever you want to call it. lol. You would think he had know where to go then he would stop on a dime and jump 4 or 5 feet to the left or right and he was gone again. Lol. And he was all over the feild on defense too.
Marcelias was definitely special, had to play more defense his Senior year than RB. Javonte and Johnnie are the only other athletes I have seen in high school that compares to him.
Got a good group of athletes coming the next few years, I think the group from middle school that came in will have a few guys that can do something. I hope Clark stays I agree in 3 more years I think we can start thinking about contending in the conference again
I think you're right. I hear the weight program has stepped up and they have kids that actually want to work again. Coach Clark will get it done. The last couple of classes to graduate just didn't have that burn, both boys and girls. It was bad timing for that with the move up to a much tougher conference. They'll be back
There was probably 7-10 kids that actually wanted to play/had any business playing football. That combined with athletes like McCaster and several others not even playing and it’s a small miracle that Clark has been able to put a few wins together. I think the tide is beginning to turn though.
That's about what I've heard as well. Coaches have to have players that want it, and more than 10. Especially in this conference. Was saying the same about basketball earlier. I'm hearing good things about some of the kids coming up, so it will improve in all sports. We caught a few girls basketball games last month, they're looking better. Can't wait to see the football team out there in a few weeks.
I like I said before Clark is a really good guy/coach but around here it's very hard for an outsider ( no disrespect ) to get support when you don't win! He needs a staff to help him! No parent support then no kid support ( facts around Duplin Co )! JK won't get that support with guys like Coach Futch football and Coach Melvin basketball that the community knows has never played the game for example! Their is NO development so the product on court/field can not be better! Some need to stop being just a FAN and really look at what's happening with our programs! I mean would you let someone with no true experience be the director of your fortune 500 company?! Better said do you want just anyone to handle your bank checks/deposit money?! Our community/kids development and not just for sports need to be thought of in the same way! Understand I love my home/community and have only missed a couple of fball/bball games in 16 years so I'm there with my gear on regardless! Just want better for the community/kids!

DarkHorsaes picked up late (a few weeks ago) an endowment game 9/20 against Pamlico County at Clinton. Pamlico County is 1A, going 13-2 last year, their only losses were to Tarboro and to Murphy in the state 1AA championship game. I would they would be a very good opponent at the 1A level.
