They were near the 4a line then but the free lunches and Wachovia points is why some smaller schools moved up to 4a and bigger schools went 3a. If it was numbers alone, they may have been in 4a. ACR and Asheville were 2 of the the schools that got moved up from 3a to 4a because of the points and less free lunches.W Charlotte had around 1600 students during the last realignment.
rightThe last realignment wasn’t just based off of ADM, but also student economic data and Wells Fargo standings (which I disagree). W Charlotte serves a lower income area and really only does well in football and m b-ball, therefore, their ADM was much higher than most 3A schools.
So you don’t know that the last realignment used free lunch and Wachovia cup points along with adm’s ? Because they didYall need to stop with the free reduced lunch stuff. WC had around 1200 to 1400 students for most of the recent realignment periods. It had nothing to do with free/reduced lunch or Wachovia simply admin numbers. WC has been high low income since 1999 and they were 4A. They also had a new school built and their enrollment was capped for a few years. Since the opening of the new school their enrollment has grown tremendously the last 3 years. They also got 3 middle schools feeding them now. With the addition of another southern school it added students to WC to relieve crowding at the suburban schools.
-No one had any sympathy for WC when they played 4A with low 3A numbers for years. Besides football all the other sports have suffered being in 3A.
