Unfortunately I will be out of town when the State Championship games are going on. Or I would definitely go. But I will try and keep up as much as possible when games are being played. Of all things this would have been a good opportunity to physically see a State Championship game for 1st time but I want be able to go. I will be pulling for all the West to win. Best of luck this week. Hope anyone going will have safe travels. It’s going to be a fun week of ballgames going on.

In 1A Uwharrie came back and tied 1-1 against Northside-Pinetown in the 7th inning. Then scored 1 it in the 8th to win 2-1. They lead the series 1-0.

Per Salisbury Post. With East Rowan win yesterday gave them 33 wins, a State record. Only 2 losses. They used a sophomore lefty who is 10-0. In the bottom of the 3rd inning East was up 2-0
SC came back in the top of the 4th to tie 2-2, but the sophomore pitcher used a hidden ball trick to end the inning to save what could have been a disastrous inning. Also the sophomore (Ailshie) went 3-0 at bat. Then was walked at final bat to bring in the winning run.

Yes, that Ailshie kid was a major thorn in Tuscola’s side during their series. They probably would have won game 1 if he stayed in at Pitcher, then hit a grand slam that was the crippler at Tuscola at game 2, and then in game 3 hit a 2-run hr and I believe a 2-run single. Kid’s a gamer for sure .
Burns down 6-1 in the top of the sixth here in Burlington, but lead off the inning with a triple. Bulldog chance to rally?
Burns gets three in the top of the seventh, but the rally is ended on a nice play by the Greene Central centerfielder. Rams win 8-5 and are the 2024 NCHSAA 2A champs.
Roberson puts up three in the top of the first. Ashley coming up to bat.
East Rowan beat South Central 11-3 to win the 3A state championship.

Congratulations to East Rowan for 3A State Championship win. Making Rowan Co proud. Two years ago South Rowan won the 3A State Championship game. Last year East Rowan made it to the regionals. This year it was East Rowan winning all.

Roberson reliever comes in and gets out of a no out, bases loaded jam. Gives up one. 6-1 Rams after two.
Headed to the seventh, 8-1 Roberson (trying to conserve phone battery).
Roberson wins 8-1. Repeats as 4A champions.

The 34 wins by East Rowan was a state record for wins in a year.

Who are the teams to watch out for next year in each class? Any of the teams that were in the championships this year have a legit shot to get back? Not sure what everyone has coming back or what they coming in for the next year.
Burns won the title last year as a team full of sophomores. They made it back this year as all juniors. They will have a chance to get back. East Rutherford won't lose a lot either. I wouldn't be shocked to see them meet in the western finals again.
East Rowan could have another good season. They will return a good pitcher. From what I’m hearing West Rown could be the team to beat in that conference.
I want to say a few words of praise for Burlington Athletic Stadium as a state championship venue. There was adequate parking and it was easy enough to find using GPS. The seating was really good, with only some problems as people tried to squeeze past each other before the game as they tried to find seats. The views were good and the facility seemed to be maintained at a high level. Both restrooms and concessions were good and it’s in a central location for schools to travel to. I give the association grief from time to time, but they did a great job finding this venue for the state championships.
I believe Ashley was mostly juniors although they did lose 2 seniors. They have some good pieces coming back.
TC Roberson was mostly Juniors as well...TC Roberson only lost 3 seniors. They have the chance to 3 peat for sure.
They better enjoy it….re alignment not gonna be favorable to them. Sure it’s easy for charter schools to get kids but it’s really easy for them to get kids and win in 1a…..higher classifications not so much imo
Think their ADM is actually higher than ER now…
