Good luck to Coach David. He is going to need it and then some. At this point, HPC football is an embarrassment and 100% not competitive. Saying this is a monumental rebuilding job is an understatement. Let's hope the community and players buy into what Coach David is selling. They need a coach that will stick this out for a while and not throw in the towel and run off after a year or two.![]()

HPC needs a head coach who can engage with the youth programs and feeder middle schools, ensuring everyone is on the same page. They also need mentorship programs to help keep players focused off the field in order to make a real turnaround. As you mentioned, they’ll need the coach to stay long enough to see those changes through. High Point has always had talent and athletes; now it’s about harnessing that potential. It’s sad, the year before last they didn’t even have summer workouts for years and they can barely field a varsity team.
