Bishop McGuinness football coach Mark Holcomb heading to Wake Forest, according to sources
He said he's loved being at Bishop the last two seasons but would not say definitely where he is headed
I have a lot of respect for his coaching ability. Don’t know him personally. But I do know he was putting out feelers well before he left Oak Grove. Some coaches just seem to have an itch and can’t stay in one place for very long. Eventually it usually catches up with them.![]()

I never understood why he left N. Davidson for Oak Grove back in the day. Unless he just had a real itch to build a program from the ground up. He had N. Davidson running like a well oiled machine with consistent winning records and decent playoff runs. Also, great attendance at games and community support for the Black Knights. Hard to walk away from that to start up a brand new program.I have a lot of respect for his coaching ability. Don’t know him personally. OG was a good opportunity to take on and build a good program. ND was peaked and getting ready to slide down which they have. He is a great coach and will do well if he continues to coach.I never understood why he left N. Davidson for Oak Grove back in the day. Davidson County set Oak Grove up to be the gold standard of Davidson Co in how they drew the lines. Holcomb is a fantastic coach and will do well wherever he goes. High school coaches will be happy they don't have to coach against him anymore.I never understood why he left N. Davidson for Oak Grove back in the day. Bishop is a difficult football job as so many of the students never played any organized football before the 9th grade. Hard to be competitive when starting with the basics at that age. He did a great job at BM and best wishes to him.
