This is about a 4A team. Would post it there, but the 3A and 4A boards dont have much participation (anybody else noticed that?).
Anyway, Holly Springs, 10-1, just self reported an ineligible player that played in 2 games. So normally, they'd have to just forfeit those games. No big deal. But because the brackets were already set before the forfeitures, their record change would affect their seeding and those of others too. So because it's too late to change everything, they just get kicked out without a replacement.
They had a bye to the 2nd round. Now, the team that wins the first round game that was supposed to play Holly Springs next, goes from the 1st round straight to the 3rd round.
I get it all. But how fair is that for the 3rd round opponent of the team that gets the now 2nd round bye? It's not. But then again, what can you do?
