Looks like if Andrews can win the SMC that would be huge homefield advantage; otherwise it looks like MA would sneak into the #2 seed.
I know, still a lot of football left to play.
Funny that maxpreps has Andrews 81st and Robbinsville 80th in state but in 1a they have Andrews 3rd and Robbinsville 4th.
They do that for a few teams in 2A too...idk how it happens
I’m not sure if Bear Grass will get seeded as a conference Champion. They are in an independent league. They will get seeded as an at large
Maybe so...not sure about the rules in their case. I assumed they'll be seeded a CC if their record is above .500
Based on this and it will likely change there are a few teams that "may" not be challenged at all until the 4th round.
So will Eastern Randolph be in the west or east this year? Seems like they alternate yearly
West. There is no alternating under the current realignment. Teams are already divided east/west.

Bear Grass should not get seeded as a conference champion. The top 3 conference finish and/or .500 rule applies to split conferences with at least 2 teams from a respective class. Bear grass is only team in conference that plays 11 man Columbia if they still have a team is playing 8 man and should not be listed in rpi
I agree on not being designated champion; however, they could get in the playoffs if their RPI is in the top 32.

I so believe I'll need to drop Bessemer City from CC. That conf won't have a 1A champion
Agree….unless Cherryville finishes at .500.
….and that’s a maybe….cause I’m not sure now.
So there will probably be 5 or so teams that get into the playoffs and not have a single win. SMH

You know if there is such a need for money why not have an upper and lower bracket? Put the top 16 teams on each side in the upper to play for the state championship and then the bottom teams on the lower in a consolation bracket? You avoid the 1-10 going to the 11-0 slaughters. And the teams 17-32 have a fighting chance to get a little taste of success while getting some extra football in.
At least in 1A. I mean come on why are we in 2022 and still sending 0 and 1 win teams to the slaughterhouse in the playoffs.
Columbia is ranked #67 in MaxPreps 11 man 1A football and #29 in RPI 1A East 11 man football. If you filer 6/8/9 man football on MaxPreps there's only 12 teams in NC.
They are listed as Atlantic 5 1A conference with only Bear Grass & Columbia listed playing football. The odd thing is on MaxPreps they're not scheduled to play each other.
But if even if Bear Grass was the only school playing 11 man football in an all 1A conference under the rule...
1-5 teams = 1 Berth (Conference Champion)
