Grimsley vs Weddington

I have no beef with Creek. I don't think we have ever played each other. No doubt, with some consistency on offense they could be great. But Honda seems to be a fan of all the 704 teams and needs to park the car until next year.
I'm just having fun, and our Offense has been a challenge for sure.

Now some of you guys mentioned things I’ve said. I’m not a Hough person. I couldn’t care less who wins actually. I’m just getting bored with the playoffs. When the same four teams make the regional semis, it could be a freak of the season if it happens once. Well, it might be something to it if it happens twice. The third time is a trend. This applies to Grimsley’s wins over Hough and for Hough losing these games. Congrats to Grimsley for hanging in there with Hough. They blew a 21-6 lead and hung in there and got the mild upset.
I don’t think Grimsley ‘blew’ a 21-6 lead as much as a determined and talented Hough team battled their way back to tie the game - twice. And chuckles to your ‘mild upset’ when last week you claimed no way in hell Grimsley would win. Hough nearly were blown out in 1st half. Credit to their resilience. 🤪🤪🤪

It was still an upset and yes, they blew a 21-6 lead.

Two very good teams. Last week was the first time seeing Grimsley since last year. I came away impressed.

When it's this tight I will go with the team with the best athlete on the field. In this case I think Grimsley has the two best as the RB is pretty special as well.

24-21 Grimsley

Round 1 2022 Grimsley 28, Weddington 27
Round 2 2023 Weddington 44, Grimsley 27
Round 3 2024 ???

Prediction: Grimsley 31, Weddington 28

The winner of this game will have score 31 or more points. In the previous matchups the teams combined for 55 and 71 total points. I expect a lot of offense.

We have an interesting West Region final. Grimsley will be facing Weddington (again). Weddington will be travelling to Greensboro to meet the Whirlies.

Weddington took care of business last week against East Forsyth gaining a 37-21 win.

Grimsley, which has won 27 consecutive games at home, let an early 21-6 lead slip away, before winning 35-28 against Hough last week.

So, this will be the third straight season that Weddington and Grimsley will meet for the Western final. In 2022, Grimsley held on for a 28-27 victory. Last season, Weddington won 44-27 before wnning the state title.

This year's game should once again be a close one. Grimsley will be a slight favorite, due to them being at home.

Prediction: Grimsley 30 Weddington 29

I have been to 1 rolesville game when they played at Gibbons, easily the best game ive witnessed all year, and they are about to do it again. Rolesville won in OT after getting just a fg on the first
poss of OT. Also saw Weddington but very early at West Forsyth. My gut tells me Weddington if
they play but dang that rolersville team is good. I had no doubt what the east final would be after
witnessing that, and it came to be...

Any chance in your mind that Gibbons will win this time?

Most definitely a chance, the home team got the hold call against them i think it was the second play of their OT possession putting CG in a more pass needy situation and the interception occurred. Rolesville celebrated mightily running back toward their bench waving flags and such. I was sitting on the Rolesville side. Im sure CG has that memory in their minds. I picked Rolesville that night in the Pigskin and it delivered the best game ive seen live all year and I have seen some good ones this year...This game is probably a pickem at CG imo...
About to determine my pick....
I will be heading back to Grimsley this week going back to back there 2 weeks, thank
goodness the temperature will be a little higher this week..It was a cccold 25* degrees in that 4th quarter last week

I may not even wear my long John’s this week. I did not see where the weather affected last weeks game against Huff. Whirlies only passed 9 times but when your RB goes for 302 against the best D in the ate, why throw?

I know. Heck Grimsley would beat Mater Dei, , St John Bosco or Bishop Gorman, wouldn’t they? My gosh Duncanville or North Shore from Texas would have no shot. And Centennial or De Lasalle from California would be easy pickings. Grimsley is the greatest team North Carolina and the southeastern United States has ever seen. Get out of here with that stuff. 302 yards and they were a blown coverage away from overtime. Of course the RB had 302 yds when that’s the only offense they had most of the game. Their defense couldn’t stop them even after a 21-6 lead. Of course there will be those who condemn this comment but that’s fine. I’ve come to expect it. But that’s the problem I and others have with Grimsley. For several years they had nothing until they and other schools started building all-star squads using the transfer portal. Now, lo and behold they have the greatest this and greatest that. Hough has been doing the exact same thing. They just haven’t been as successful at it. And people still complain about the Catholic schools being in the NCHSAA. That’s the pot calling the kettle black. On top of that the challenging game they mention playing is Rolesville and Reagan? Play Archbishop Moeller out of Cincinnati, Prince Avenue Christian or Langston Hughes out of Georgia like Mallard Creek has been doing, Or Nothwestern out of Rock Hill, SC or Dutch Fork, coached by Tommy Knotts and going for their 6th state championship, like Hough has. But Grimsley can’t possibly schedule teams like that. How would they get their undefeated seasons, along with their perennial playoff home games? But with all those “great teams” they’ve had, they’ve managed exactly one state championship. Yes they’re hard to come by but one state title isn’t much when you consider such greatness as Grimsley is it? Come back when you’ve beefed up your schedule and played and won playoff games on the road.

Is this what happens when your 40-27 Hough win turns into a 35-28 Huskie loss? How about a Pepto Bismol and a gummy?

Will this game have tv/radio?
Mister Bow Hunter, the Matthews Weddington at Greensboro Grimsley event will be broadcast on greensborosports at 7:30 from scenic Jamieson Stadium on Grimsley's campus. Word on the street says they're thinking of adding " Mister Honda Field at Jamieson Stadium, " but again, its only a far fetched rumor.
P.S. Sending our mountain brothers and sisters healing vibes and prayers.

It should be only a far fetched rumor. No one has contacted me for approval to use my name. I demand NIL money first.
