I really believe he may be one of the best High School Football Coaches. Of course time will tell, but if he had stayed at Mt Airy, the 36 straight wins would have increase to 58, 2 state titles to 4 straight, etc.
Not just because him, of course, but the staff he had, plus the talent coming back and up........the system he had adapted to just fit !
Give him some time and Freedom will get there, I am sure.
I think I only saw them play once or twice last season, so I don't know all their kids. But I'm pretty sure they got hit hard by graduation.
Overall i think that he is a better all around athlete than his older brother who is now playing at NC State at WR. He's not as tall yet but id guess he's around 6'2. he can play anywhere on the field but my guess will be WR, Safety, or LB. He served as backup QB and starting JV QB but didn't get much action behind a very talented sibling. i expect him to help Freedom a lot over the next 2 seasons. Go Pats!!!
I think the Patriot boys basketball team could be deep this upcoming season. With the Tillery kid that could add some much needed height.
the staff should reach out and try to talk him into playing. he's a rebounding and shot blocking machine

It was in top 3 worst lol) of all time last year. EB played good and the injury thing hadn’t hit em yet. If they played that game 3 or 4 weeks later EB woulda lost.

All I can say about Freedom and E. Burke last season is that those two teams went in different directions after that game. I expected E. Burke to be more competitive than what happened, and Freedom seemed to turn things around, even if their final record doesn't indicate it. Draughn had a lot of players graduate, but I think coach Powell is still in better shape than coach Whisnant at Patton. He'll do a good job turning that program around if they give him enough time, but they're in a tough spot right now. I'm hopeful about Freedom going forward.
That was the worst luck of a team last year for EB snake bit for sure!! lost all the key people that whole senior class was bang up all year at one time!! That is why we might be better this year they played a lot of young players.
