East Duplin fan here. I am going to be in Topton on 11/24 and will be missing my first ED playoff game in years. (assuming we take care of business Friday) Can you guys tell me of some possible games to take in close to the area I will be in? TIA

That's deep in the moutains, looks like pure 1A games for you, if anyone out there is playing(like Murphy or Robbinsville).

Might as well run down to Georgia(its not too far from there) and catch a game.

Topton is between Andrews and Bryson City on 74. It's kinda in Macon, Graham, and Cherokee Counties and really close to Swain County. It's the middle of flippin nowhere.

The only likely close game is Cherokee vs. the winner of TJA and Elkin.

Franklin is a long shot to get a home game, they would have to beat Pisgah (likely) and Hibriten would have to lose to Patton (highly unlikely).

Murphy would only have a home game if East Surry beat East Wilkes, and Swain would only have a home game if Polk beats Mount Airy.

Robbinsville would get a home game if they beat MICS and CSD beats Mitchell.

I will say Topton is beautiful. I've worked all around that area (mostly in Nantahala, some in Robbinsville) and there is some dramatic scenary. All up and down 74 is nice and you may see the steam train on the other side of the river, but if you've got some time to kill then drive up Wayah Road towards Nantahala Lake. I would live in Nantahala if it didn't take an hour to get anywhere with cell phone service or a gas station that takes credit cards.

Wow missing a possible Randleman and East Duplin match up is tough. I’ve seen both and that will be a great one if Randleman gets by Nash Central.

I really hate to miss the game. Just have to do the family thing. What is worse is that I can’t get cell reception to even know what is going on! Ughh!

Looks like you have a choice between Murphy at home vs. East Surry in the 1aa or Cherokee at home vs. TJA in 1a. I'd probably go see the Cherokee game because it's more likely to be a closer score, but Murphy and their wing-t & sptead combo are always fun to watch. If you go to Murphy, though, you have to listen to that PA guy that never shuts up.

Heck with the family thing, I would start complaining about tummy trouble a day early and miss that trip for the family with the sqires. There's always a first time for everything. I'm not even a panther fan but become one when my old school is knocked out. I'll not miss it if my Lord let's me live.
